UM2 stopped working - display off :-(

Hi,

during a print the display of my UM2 suddenly looked fuzzy and the print stopped in the middle.

I decided to turn off the printer...waited a bit and turned it on again.

The display now stays off....nothing...no reaction...yes, I can hear a click sound when I press the click-wheel...but that's all...

Something is broken :-(

Right in time before I was able to finish the Xmas prints :-(

Any ideas...any easy way to fix it?

Already sent a request to UM's support...but so far no reply...

:( looks like a big problem.

You might want to check the connections to the electronic board (it's underneath the printer).

You can have a look at the build manual for assistance:

    https://github.com/Ultimaker/Ultimaker2/blob/master/um2%20assembly%20manual%20V1.1%20_english.pdf

    Check for loose connections

If it's not the connections you probably need a new display.

As a backup to get your prints done you could try switching the Gcode flavour to RepRap and then print via USB using Pronterface.

How long does it normally take for UM's Support to answer? 36h without no reply and the weekend right in front of us...

    36 hours ? post-42-1201873916.gifpost-42-1201873916.gifpost-42-1201873916.gif

    ... sorry, I don't want to be unkind ... it's just a joke ;)

You know, I see answer to ticket also ... after one week and more ... unfortunately ... :(

Do a tour of the forum and you'll see ...

Well...you mean once they have our money that don't need to support us anymore...well

BTW...just picked up the phone and called them. Worked through all the steps and it looks like it's the panel board. So I'll hopefully get a replacement soon.

So....phone is definitely faster than email

BTW...Support and warranty was one of the main reasons to decide going for a ready-build device...

For one thing - they are overworked last few days as they changed their ticketing system and/or ordering system and it's a temporary disaster. For another thing even though they just hired a few more people they have been a few weeks behind. So, um, 2 weeks is typical.

And YES, the phone works MUCH better. But you probably have to speak english or dutch. Their english is excellent.

Having said all that they *are* working to improve this. Like I said they just hired more people in support and also they are improving their ticketing system.

I'm waiting for about 3 months to get an answer to my ticket, updated it multiple times, canceled an order that got messed up and am waiting for one week to get my money back via Paypal. Called because of the tickets and the money multiple times, only promises so far.

So I hope you will have more success.

      • UltiMaker Cura 5.3 stable released
In this stable release, Cura 5.3 achieves yet another huge leap forward in 3D printing thanks to material interlocking! As well as introducing an expanded recommended print settings menu and lots of print quality improvements. Not to mention, a whole bunch of new printer profiles for non-UltiMaker printers!

      • Here it is. The new UltiMaker S7
The UltiMaker S7 is built on the success of the UltiMaker S5 and its design decisions were heavily based on feedback from customers.

        So what’s new?
The obvious change is the S7’s height. It now includes an integrated Air Manager. This filters the exhaust air of every print and also improves build temperature stability. To further enclose the build chamber the S7 only has one magnetically latched door.

The build stack has also been completely redesigned. A PEI-coated flexible steel build plate makes a big difference to productivity. Not only do you not need tools to pop a printed part off. But we also don’t recommend using or adhesion structures for UltiMaker materials (except PC, because...it’s PC). Along with that, 4 pins and 25 magnets make it easy to replace the flex plate perfectly – even with one hand.

The re-engineered print head has an inductive sensor which reduces noise when probing the build plate. This effectively makes it much harder to not achieve a perfect first layer, improving overall print success. We also reversed the front fan direction (fewer plastic hairs, less maintenance), made the print core door magnets stronger, and add a sensor that helps avoid flooding.

The UltiMaker S7 also includes quality of life improvements:
Reliable bed tilt compensation (no more thumbscrews) 2.4 and 5 GHz Wi-Fi A 1080p camera (mounted higher for a better view) Compatibility with 280+ Marketplace materials Compatibility with S5 project files (no reslicing needed) And a whole lot more
Curious to see the S7 in action?
We’re hosting a free tech demo on February 7.
It will be live and you can ask any questions to our CTO, Miguel Calvo.

      • UltiMaker Cura Alpha 🎄 Tree Support Spotlight 🎄
Are you a fan of tree support, but dislike the removal process and the amount of filament it uses? Then we would like to invite you to try this special release of UltiMaker Cura. Brought to you by our special community contributor @thomasrahm

We generated a special version of Cura 5.2 called 5.3.0 Alpha + Xmas. The only changes we introduced compared to UltiMaker Cura 5.2.1 are those which are needed for the new supports. So keep in mind, this is not a sneak peek for Cura 5.3 (there are some really cool new features coming up) but a spotlight release highlighting this new version of tree supports.
