  1. and is there any option for the ultimaker 3 to print carbon material without the nozzle wasting away. Ian
  2. hi guys. Ill try and find the STL files for my Extruder and add it to thingiverse. But it only works with the old ultimaker 2. Ian
  3. cool prints when you say scafolding material... is that normal PVA Support material or something else ? Thank you. Ian
  4. Thanks Paul for the 2 cool Videos ! Very nice Review. Can I ask, when he mentiones in the second Video.. wear resistant nozzle.. does that mean that printing carbon filled material will wear out a normal ultimaker 3 nozzle ? Does ultimaker sell a stronger nozzle that can print a lot of carbon filled material ? or some one else ? Thank you. Ian
  5. wow... cool ! So ultimaker 3... tasty tasty... hehe
  6. thanks guys for all the helpful Information. One Little question. Cura I think was playing with the idea.. correct me if Im wrong, about letting the printing head of an ultimaker not only print on flat layers like normal but also go up and down. So a kinda 3d dynamic print path. If the print head could print more dynamically in all 3 dimensions, then the connection between carbon reinforced material could be improved.. less seperation between layers. Ian
  7. Thanks guys for the info ! I guess they will be Tuning the cura Software a lot the next weeks and months to get the best out of the new ultimaker. But im so excited and delighted that they have now a working with a dual head printer with working support material. That for me was the number one wish... One last question... have ultimaker finally produced a printer with a really good feeder ? I had the original old feeder on my ultimaker 2 Extended and it wasnt the best Thing in the world if you know what I mean. Id love to think that they have got a really reliable clean Feeder that does not destroy 35 hour prints... Thanks. Ian
  8. Hi Sander. Thanks for the fast reply ! Im very good thanks. I just started with a new large medical production company in germany. Of course like always I like to have at least one nice ultimaker extended some where in my working enviroment... other wise I get a little shaky... Other than that.. life is good thank God. And yourself ? Ian
  9. Can any one answer this question from the user Ronan please: Is printing with PVA support suppose to make a 2 hour long print over 13 hours? I would be very interested in the answer ? Does printing of an object with Support material increase the printing time SOOOO much ? Thank you. Ian Spring.
  10. Hi guys. May I ask how many months the ultimaker 3 has been sold / shipped out ? Its normal for most companies like this to have a few little errors at the begining of production ( production quality and control). Iv learned it really does help to wait maybe 2 or 3 months until the production people have worked out the little kinks... But it Looks really great and the prints are very beautiful ! Congrats and have lots of fun. Ian Spring
  11. Hi guys. I had a little question. Does anyone have any experience with 3d printing filament with carbon fibres or carbon nano tubes ? I could imagine that the carbon fibres or carbon nanotubes would of course add strenght to the print material BUT would the connection between the layers be the weak spot ? Is there a perfect TEMP for printing carbon filled material so the layer bond is really good.. almost as good as the material itself ? Has anyone tested this ? Last question. If a object was printed with a PLA based carbon fibre Filament, would the PLA swell with air moisture over time ? Would it be OK for a short period of time and then... slowly swell up ? Would love to see if anyone of your guys have any experience in this direction ? Any info or help would be super. Thank You. Ian Spring.
  12. Hello. I find your idea very simple and clever. Can this design only hold one type of camera ? I would love to see a typical photo taken in your system.. could you show us something ? How the camera lenese focuse on two points and not show the blue outter edge. That would be cool. Thank you. Ian
  13. Morning guys. Thank you for the nice words Its good to be back and say hello to old friends Its very nice to hear that with the development and big improvements in quality in the ultimaker products that the simple questions are dieing down.. also down to the better customer FAQ and things like that... so for ultimaker BRAVO !! and to the Moderators also... BRAVO Im also quietly using an ultimaker 2 extended the last months with my client at the moment. Printing electric motor boat parts for testing... About getting to the Neatherlands... when and what is happening this year ? Best wishes. Ian
  14. hi guys. because iv been gone so long.. the user forum has changed a lot. So from what I can see the Coffee chat Tread is now pushed down to a normal tread and not pinned... little pity as it was a nice reminder to people to take a minute and say hi One question.. is the forum is a little more quiet now as what I rememeber before.. or is it just so .... clean white that you dont really find the activity anymore... ? Ian
  15. Hi guys. Whats the Gregs Wade modification ? About my NinjaFlex. When I spotted that the flow was breaking up.. I increased the nozzle temp to 235.. that should be enough but maybe it needs even more. I just swapped back to normal PLA and its printing perfect.. so its not a problem with the nozzle. Im still using my simple flex extruder upgrade.. stupid simple but printing great with no failed prints yet. About examples.. they arent so exciting.. mostly special rubbel holders that close up spaces in motor boat housings when they are spray painted for production. Simple washer prototypes for new seals for motor boat controllers.. Ill see what things I can show and what I cant from my company. Ian
  16. I have been printing with this material for the last 2 months with no problem with my ultimaker 2 extended. BUT. I came back from 2 weeks holidays and the weather has become a lot warmer... increase of 15 degrees. Now the material has flow problems... im just curious... has the material maybe expanded with the room temp increase or absorbed air moisture ? do I need to buy new material ? Thank you. Ian
  17. morning guys. I need to print some of this for a project in my boat company. I had no luck with the normal ultimaker feeder on the back.. so I did a super simple new feeder housing, using all normal standard ultimaker parts... the critical design aspect is... to only give enought controled space for the material to flow into the feeder.. pushed with the stepper motor and out... no space for play. I cooked up a dumb simple 2 part print... made it and iv used it about 15 times now with no failed prints. The only problem is.. you have to change the feeder housing when you want to print soft materials. Of course the best would be a feeder that can handle boht... but for the moment im keeping to simple. Ian
  18. vielen vielen dank ! Schone Grüsse aus München Ian
  19. Vielen Dank Marcus für die gutes TIP ! Schonen Tag ! Ian
  20. Guten morgen ! Kurze frage, wo finde ich 2.8mm PLA in Deutschland zu bestellen ? Oder.... was ist die beste firme in Deutschland für 3mm PLA ? Danke. Ian aus München
  21. one more photo to show. some design ideas: the flow pattern of material is curved to reduce resistance the wall openings coming close to the centre are closer to help flexable material flow. the inside wall of the filament passage has do 50% surface contact reduction design. Ian
  22. Servus ! I had a little time today in the office and im working on something different Goint to give this a print tomorrow and see how it works... main objective to print normal and BIG PLUS... handle flexable filament... ! Here is my teaser photo for now... Ian
  23. ps... love the pirate boat print ! what printer was used ? Ian
  24. hi guys. im sure I can show off some nice stuff but I have to be careful that I dont show off any new upcoming products. At the moment im printing a 1 to 1 model of a battery pack lid that we are developing. Im going to print the base, lid and inside battery as seperate parts and then print in different material the screws and washers... Ian
  25. Thanks guys. I work for a company designing new electric motors for boats... big and small. There are not too many in Europe so I guess some of you know what company I am talking about. I think Ill be printing out some existing models for customers soon and those I can show here but the new stuff is under raps for the moment. Great to be back guys ! Ian
