  1. Interesting thread I was running Cura 15.04.2 for these prints and the newer Cura, with Coasting, might help.
  2. Fabrc8 has refurbished Ultimaker 2's with 1 year warranties for $1299 I've seen a few UM2's for sale since the UM3 came out @enveetee if you aren't afraid of doing an upgrade and are familiar with working with hardware, the Extruder Upgrade install isn't terribly hard. If you can get the Ultimaker 2 for a reasonable price, purchase the upgrade and install it. Whatever nozzle problems that seller is mentioning won't matter since you are installing a brand new print head, rods and extruder. @jmakers3d how many hours are on that machine? How much printing has it done.
  3. I was reading the fine print and really disappointed to read about that too. Having met the CEO, he was excited to show off the ease of use their system has. Being able to work on so many platforms sounded fantastic.
  4. Well this has me puzzled I think I have ruled out ... The extruder (inspected/clean...no debris found) Fans same settings on each Filament - Used Ultimaker Silver @225C and ColorFabb Orange @ 210C Retraction set to 4.8mm at 45 mm/sec Nozzle is clean (atomics show a good, clean nozzle) Note the same areas with defects. Looks like underextrusion near bottom...then left eye of the robot has some blobs. What could it be!
  5. I keep running into this today. The forum just keeps getting slower and slower. :(
  6. I try out your suggestions on a 6 hour print and see how that goes I'll stick to 230C since I do not have an enclosure yet to go higher
  7. The reason i ask is the default values are way different from what you went from and to
  8. @yellowshark , I am working on putting these settings into Cura 2.3.1 minimum travel distance from 1.5 to 1.0 minimum extrusion from 0.02 to 0 ..but I can not seem to find them!
  9. We've gone a bit off topic on this thread Again, adhesion seems alright and the brim has helped keep it down. @gr5 I can send you this large part I'm making so you can troubleshoot it with me. The orientation and large amount of support needed was part of the problem. Heck I'd love to see this printed on an Ultimaker 3 with PVA
  10. Doesn't seem like it is. I just tried manually checking for an update via the update checker and it says that no new version is available. Just checked, no prompt to upgrade here either
  11. Well the raft is working. I'm looking to refine the printer settings for nGen and eliminate the hairs. Minus a cover, @yellowshark gave some good tips with the retraction and travel speeds. I'll have to test it out on a small piece and see how that goes
  12. Any update on a fix for this? @sandervg ? It's annoying to keep Importing it over each time I power on the printer. Thanks!
  13. I have 2.3.0 and I know from seeing the Notification in the forum, a new version is available. Yet when I open 2.3.0, it does not alert me to that. I have checked the settings and see that "Check for updates on start is checked I'll upgrade but wondered if you have fixed this for 2.3.1
  14. Removed the glass, washed with dish soap, let dry for three hours. Cleaned again with Windex Also isn't counter clockwise further away? This failure was changing the temp mid print
  15. So that's your secret identity! I read that post, good info. I have yet to need a clear print but nice to know it can be done
  16. Ohh I may have cursed myself. I upped the temp 4C and walked away. Well there went the adhesion and found a nuclear spaghetti bomb waiting for me this morning. The basement is also getting a bit cool this time of year. (65F) I like the idea of the enclosure and other tips you gave
  17. Yeah printer not covered so I don't think I'll crank up the temp (print underway now)
  18. Hi @gr5 I've adjusted the part to be as vertical as possible, eliminating addition support and saving on some print time. The last three prints have gone OK. Some "hair" and minor stringing, but that is from the nGen settings I need to tweak. The z-hop has helped a lot Of course with so much support is the hassle of removal. (Dear Santa, Paul needs an Ultimaker 3. @sandervg knows I've been good this year) :-) The raft is working very well and I certainly didn't expect that to be the fix to this problem. These prints take 15.5 hours each, and I need 21 more! That said, I am tempted to stick (see what I did there?) with what seems to work for now.
  19. Just for comparison and testing....what travel speed are you using and not getting stringing/hairs?
  20. What's going on in the extruder? Is the knobbed-piece clean? Can you manually crank that and eject filament? I've had some filament that slipped in my extruder once....dirty knobbed bit.
  21. Yes. I used some PLA while the nozzle was warm to clean it up I read on a few places cooler might help, so I tried 225C It was a little better, but still have those "hairs" present. The operating range on this filament is 220-240 so I have some room to go lower. I was just curious how others were dealing with it. I really don't want to mess with flow settings, since the prints are coming out so well otherwise.
  22. @gr5 is grid stronger? When I searched here for information on which support type is stronger...or any benefits between them, I found no information.
  23. Well perhaps the online documentation should be updated to reflect it doesn't work as designed. And save others some frustration https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/20982-custom-materials-ultimaker2-plus
