Hi Guys
I did a 5 hour print of the octopus to compare it with sanjays print in his thread, i think it come out slightly better than his but i made the mistake of not putting the fan on and went to bed, so you can see where it started to over heat on top of the head.
0.15 layers
220 degrees
50 degrees bed
3mm retraction
25 retraction speed.
3 shells
20% infill

My latest print, I got some airbrush's and a compressor for my b-day so i am now going to try and paint some of my prints.... so this is my first test subject....
-
Increase that to 2-2.1mm by turning the metal coupler clockwise..... you can use the holes in it to do so.
I believe their should only be a 1mm gap 1.2mm sound ok but i would not increase this to 2.5-3mm

I printed the whole feeder 100% infill, might be overkill but want to avoid any such breakages

Hi Dim3nsioneer
Yes i have tested it with a UM2 all be it with a tiny amount of flex material This is only able to be done using IRoberti Feeder design for the UM2, I had no luck at all trying it with the stock feeder on a um2...
Iroberti print above was also done on a UM2 using his feeder design.

Hi Iroberti
That is a very good print, what do you mean by fluffy ? on my limited trials with the little bit i had i was unable to get a smooth finish it felt like a rough texture and this was at 220 with layer heights of 1.5 and retraction 3mm with a speed of 20
I have just had an email from DHL to say my ninja from Daniel will arrive today so i can get on with some testing tonight...

These guys in the UK are about to launch a kickstarter campaign this month, not to much info about it, there site says you can extrude at 1.75 and 3mm so i contacted them and asked if they will be doing a 2.85mm at launch and they said they will be doing all three sizes...

Hi Guys
Been wanting to test some Nylon and heard its really tricky to use, I have just take delivery of some Taulman Bridge material.
It prints really easy at 220 degrees with a bed temp of 70 and a touch of glue and brim and i got no warping from the bed.
I have printed a fan shroud the current one i have is ABS and is fine with the heat, does anyone know if the Bridge martial is better than ABS in regards to heat resistance or worse ?

When i used spiralize many many months ago i had trouble getting a water tight base using 0.8 i had to settle for 0.6 but i have seen you should just about be able to push 1mm with it but i could not achieve this...
But now i have a lot more experience with the machine i should try again to see what i can get....

for me in the UK
4 coils (3520g) of white from faberdashey plus shipping £108
4 spools (3000g) of white colorfabbs free shipping € 145
-
Faberdashery works out more expensive if you buy it by the meter if you buy a whole 100m of one color then it is very reasonable priced...

My son wanted a glow in the dark dragon

I use this under my printer i made the spool holder and the spool is on https://www.youmagine.com/designs/adjustable-heavy-duty-filament-spool
Woofysplace took some of my design and put one together and placed it on youmagine

illuminarti uses a lazy Susan i believe

Hi Fingerpuk
I use both but i have more of faberdashery i prefer it over colorfabbs...

Nothing impressive but thought i would post it anyway..
Ultimaker robot printed in ninja flex using iroberti feeder system on UM2

Hi Iroberi
Just to confirm that you feeder can print Ninja Flex material using your snap on guide which should please some people..
-
Thank you,
printed and it fits on ok will run my bit of ninja through it latter on to see what happens....
-
Hi iroberti
I am now able to give you some feedback on your feeder after geting the extrusion issues fixed, And i am happy to report that your feeder works for me with your modified files you posted...
I tested it with illuminarti tougher extrusion test and i was able to complete it 15mm 3/s and i had no back skipping on the feeder at all, so i would say your feeder works for me
Now could i ask you to modify the snap on guide for me so i can test it with the little 2m length of ninja flex i have ?
Tougher extrusion test
-
Ok i could not be satisfied with my test above, so i loaded my machine up with some faberdashery PLA and set the temp to 245 degrees and let her rip, as you can see i completed the test fully and still had no back skip of the feeder so i could most probably go some more
-
Hi Guys
You either love these tests or you hate them, i love them when they work and hate them when they don't...
A little bit of history:
when i got my machine i could print the 3 - 10 extrusion test then when my machine hit about 3 months old, i then had massive under extrusion and could only complete 5mm 3/s I obtained a new Teflon and was back in business, I could complete all the way up to 10mm 3/s
Over the last couple of weeks (another 3 months on) i was suffering massive under extrusion again and could only complete up to 5 -6mm 3/s, Today i received some more new Teflons and have fitted one and below is my results...
3 - 10mm 3/s using colorfabbs PLA at 230 degrees half a spool on back of the machine.
8 - 15mm 3/s using colorfabbs PLA at 240 degrees half a spool on back of the machine.
As you can see i started to get some under extrusion at 15mm 3/s my feeder was not skipping backwards though, i am more than happy with the results.. Later i will try again using Faberdashery PLA lose and upping the temp to 250 just like illuminarti to see if i can complete the 15mm 3/s perfectly as i was not getting any back skip on the feeder...

Hi Guys
Carried out some more testing on the ninja flex..
Iphone 5 bumper case turned out ok..
Print time 2 hours
Layer 0.1
temp 225
bed 50
retraction 4.5 speed 25
2 shells
I tried to print the dragon all was fine but it did not like the overhang on the belly i tried a couple of times different temps but each time the belly layers wanted to curl up and did not get nice layers.
Generally looked ok
Belly you can see not so good
I then tried the ninja turtle yes ninja flex ninja turtle, This was going good but the higher it got the more unstable it got the turtle was wobbling to much on its legs so be time it got to the head there was just to much wobble, so something to bear in mind..
