  1. Well, no one asked what components are you printing. As a designer I think the part design is of foremost importance. Sometimes you can design something to be printed in a weaker material, but with such a structure that makes it stronger than the original item printed with a stronger material.
  2. Thanks guys for all the input. I know that it is possible to take pictures and take notes of all the parameters used in the making of a code. The fact is that it is absolutely obvious that, no matter how difficult it may be, the idea to be able to open a file that the software has produced is absolutely natural and the way to go.
  3. I've been printing a lot of products and to do so I have produced a lot of .gcode files. Sometimes I do not remember what product they refer to, and I noticed that Cura can not open them again. Why the software that produces the code cannot open them later? For sure I am missing something. This is extremely desirable specially because I could eventually decide to change some printing settings and even going back to the STL I could miss the settings I had used before.
  4. I discovered the hard way that the promised printing size of 223x223x205 not always applies. Check how much I had to shrink my models depending on their geometry.
  5. Thanks Labern. There should be a big warning stating "Model scaled to fit the printing are", or something like that. In my case, sometimes CURA scaled the big files, sometimes not, making me think that I was crazy. I also think that this feature should be off by default. If we want to increase or reduce the model size this should be done voluntarily.
  6. I just think that I have lost days of printing, a lot of material and a lot work time after I discovered that CURA, without any warning reduces the file size of a model when it is larger than 223x223x205mm that is the available print size of my Ultimaker 2+. The awful part is that sometimes it shows the real part size with gray stripes, making sure that the size is not correct. Some other times, and do not ask me why, the part shows colored yellow and fits the plate. To make sure that I am not crazy, I drew a square solid prism that measures 243x243 x150mm and dropped inside CURA. It immediately accepted the solid showing the part colored yellow and stating its new size: 184.5x113.9x184.5. A reduction of 24,07%!!! Why? Without any warning? I don't know what you think, but for me this is a really serious flaw and a bad behavior, because we cannot trust the information delivered by the software. The worst part is that sometimes CURA shows the real size of the part with its image grayed out in stripes. Has anyone experimente something like this? Am I doing something wrong? thanks Celso

I printed this model in my room, and it took almost two complete days. I was amazed that the support was not so difficult to take from the model, unlike my expectations for such a large printing.
  8. I forgot how to reach the Gallery page ???
  9. Hi guys I just upgraded my Ultimaker 2 using the upgrade kit, but my machine is still very noisy. It looks like my sliding blocks are damaged and I need to replace them. My problem is that I didn't see this item available for purchase in this website and neither a detailed photographic step by step instruction on how to replace these parts. Any suggestions? regards Celso
  10. Thanks Meduza! I just got to the answer together with you. You see, I made the not so simple hardware upgrade, but the instructions were extremely precise and useful. I followed a video and a pdf file showing step by step what to do. When everything was ready, instructions about the upgrade had nothing to do with what I saw. Anyway, thanks for the prompt help. This forum always rocks!! Celso
  11. The instructions say: 1. Connect the Ultimaker to your computer with the USB cable. 2. Connect the power supply and turn on the Ultimaker. 3. Start Cura and select the Ultimaker 2+ or Ultimaker 2 Extended+ in the “Machine” menu (depending on which Ultimaker you have). 4. Go to “Machine” > “Install default firmware” Cura will now automatically upload the correct firmware to your Ultimaker. I went till item 3. Then I didn't see any "Machine - Install Firmware" My Cura currently is 2.3.0 thanks Celso
  12. Hi guys I just bought the Ultimaker 2+ upgrade kit and as able to install it in my Ultimaker 2 machine. Apparently things seemed tp work OK, the lights turning on, the printhead moving as usual. The problem ocurred when I tried to insert the filament in the new feeder. It seems that it's working backwards. In spite of pushing the filament up into the bowden tube it was expelling the filament. Besides this detail, I observed that you provided no explanation about this new feeder, how it is supposed to work, how to use it correctly and how to solve possible glitches. Any ideas of how to solve my problem? regards Celso
  13. At last, I could solve it by installing Cura v. 2.1.2 rgds Celso
  14. Just tried. Didn't work, but at least the icon displayed at the bottom of my screen shows the correct Cura image unlike the last time when I saw pencils and a sheet of paper. /Users/celso/Desktop/Screen Shot 2016-11-16 at 19.19.12.png
  15. For some time I cannot use my machine because two of the axis rusted badly. I am still trying to buy an extrusion upgrade kit that seems to be the right answer to my problems and still will upgrade my machine. The problem I am having is that I am trying to install the new Cura in my machine ( a brand new Macbook Pro running El Capitan) and it does not open. I install the software and then when I try to open, it says "Cura quit unexpectedly. Click reopen to open the application again." I tried this many times without success. Pls. help me. I need to print some parts in the machine of the university and need Cura for that. thanks Celso
  16. My machine is in excellent condition and is brand new (I have for a little more than 1 year). Maybe the problem really is in the bearings. I shut off the fans but noite remained the same. Now I feel the noise is becoming worse.
  17. I just solved it by closing Cura and opening it again. Celso

  20. Your suggestion didn't work for me. This is a very annoying problem and some time it take ages to make this change. Any other possible fix?
