  1. Hey guys! So today I woke up and went to look at how the print was going. I arrived to, pretty much, few lines on the bed (2-3 lines of the brim) and then... Nothing. The printer head was moving around way higher (like 5 hours worth of print higher) but nothing was coming out of the nozzle, it was just moving around just like it would have been when printing. So obviously I canceled the print. Now what could it be, is my nozzle clogged? can it be cause by a totally different reason? I saw some post about an ''atomic'' metod but I'm a bit worried about trying it out. First because I'm french so name of certains pieced can very quickly become confusing and I wouldn't want to make a mistake, second because Oh well, I'm pretty much worthless when it come to opening and fixing stuff manually, I always feel like it will never work again. I would have been very happy if anyone took some picture or even a video of the process? Would really make the process feel much more secure for me, I wouldn't want to break something on my brand new UM2, after such a long wait... Here's a picture I took of the nozzle from how I found it this morning (sorry bad quality)
  2. JUst an update, issue doesn't seems to happen in 14.05 Had some issue with too many polygones I think tho. This version seems to be a little bit less stable, I had to enter my printing parameter before importing my object because it would become so slow and unstable once the object is imported that it would constantly hang/crash.
  3. This is my latest attempt at printing my Jinx model, Had a lot of trouble with printing the model one shot because of the hair mostly, both in the back and the hair in the front. Decided to split it in two (some bad decision on my side tho there, decided to split it pretty much halfway throught her ''necklace'') I did brake one of her front chunk of hair because I decided to remove the support with a little bit not enough care, I'm going to try and glue it back. What kind of glue works well with PLA by the way? There is some clean up to do, especially on parts like her chin, tho It seems a bit hard to sand. I saw some of you guys were using a filler primer, seems like it's working great but I haven't found one that really works well so far, where did you guys buy that thing. Oh by the way, I'll print the rest of the braid, Just decided to print that part by itself, had couple of fails on that one (while printing with the other parts) wich make me loose couple of prints (where the rest was printing fine) Cheers!
  4. Braddock : If you ever want to share your Spool thinghy, I would love that. Not really good at making those kind of stuff myself! Codeczombie I don't think it's actually the spool holder doing the noise, seems like it's coming from that little guy (that will be his name in the lack of a proper term) Heres some pict of my latest print Overall it turned out better than my previous attempt. I had to stop it cause some of my handmade support for the chin broke, It was going to become a tangly mess again. I feel like the surface is a bit less smooth that on Jinx, both were printed at 0.06mm, any idea why? Otherwise, Dunno if you guys have some good tips when it come to printing those arm, Both elbow have a very hard time printing. One is still standing but the surface is very messy and ugly, the other one, the support pretty much let go and it's just a mesh. Not too sure how I should tackle the challenge.
  5. Hey guys! Here's a little video showing up the squeaking noise, If I just help it a bit by pulling on the filament to loose the reel, it fix the issue for a lil while. But then as soon as it get tight again, the squeaking is back again and It's really annoying on long prints. http://instagram.com/p/oV5UrpOfJ7/ I realised something too yesterday. I was always having no problem with prints sticking to the build plate at first and the only part that had trouble (except some light under extrusion) was a hanging surface issue. So then I added support, throught mexmixer at first. Then all of a sudden I start having trouble with print failing often in the first few layer, scrapped couple, I realise that when doing support with mexmixer, it's like the support base are ''under'' the first layer of the model you are printing. So with those, it would start by making couple of layer of the support, and only after it would start doing the base of the actual model. By doing that after it was way too far from the build plate, filament didn't stick, came up with a messy junk of filament couple of time. Dunno if anyone encountered the issue? I did test last night and did my own support in zbrush. It sure takes longer but with those, the base of the model and the support where at the same level, Both started printing their first layer at the same time, no issue!
  6. Hey, sorry to ask so much question, Seems like my extruder is doing a very screeching, squeaking noise, I'm pretty sure it wasn't doing that sound before. WHat could be causing this, is there something I can do? Should I stop the print I am doing?
  7. Ok i'll try it later with the same mesh, Today I tried reverting to the version 14.01 since someone suggested it to me and it's actually processing my mesh without any issue.
  8. HI there guys! I'm sorry if it's a silly/noob question or if it was ask before or anything. I couldn't find the answer to my question, I don't know much about cura yet since I just started using it, but so far had a lot of trouble being able to acfually process my meshes. When I first tried putting all my parameters in the full settings mode, I had a problem where the little loading part under the save button would just stop progressing. And then no matter how long I wait I wasn't able to export my gcode, It was just stuck there, So then at the time it seems like it was an issue with a number I put in shell thickness. So I put it back to .8 and everything was good, was able to save my gcode etc. Tho yersterday I've been trying with a mesh for a very long time, I can't find a way to make it work. Changed some parameter around and it's not resolving the issue. If I look at the log, it always stop after the '' Generated up/down skin in 39.874s'' then.... Nothing. When I switch to quick print tho, it seems to prepare my file without any issue, Help? What am I doing wrong?
  9. Heloooooo So I did take on a pretty big challenge (I knew this was going to fail haha) with an attempt to print Jinx. Wanted to see how it turned out to try and fix my mistakes. I had some problem with Cura, you know the little saving icon under where you usually see the progress, it was always stopping very close to the end, and would never finish, Seemed like it was a problem with my shell thickness (manage to finish once I changed it) What exactly does that mean and what is a good setting for it? So this was printed at 20mm/s, .06 layer height no support (duh... what do you guys use for support, meshmixer?) Obviously the braid failed and other part too because they would have needed support (wich I was aware of) So what is the best solution when it comes to support? Otherwise, There is a lot of ''dangly'' bits hanging out between surfaces, what is the reason for those and is there a way to avoid them? Otherwise still happy with the attempt, there is some very smooth surfaces and great result (on the bra and hair, very nice). On the bag there is huge dangly parts, like wings, I suppose it was because of the lack of support on the hair (I remove the bottom part of the hair on the picture, but they exist )
  10. Just got mine today after 12 weeks! It got shipped 2 days before my 10th week of waiting, but got a lot of trouble with DHL at the customs here in Canada. So glad to finally start printing!
  11. Hey guys! Nah I actually waited that the print bed was completly cold before removing it, I didn't try to remove it before the cooling period was over. Dunno why it sticked so much tho!
  12. Yay for my first print!! The little robot is stuck on the glass bed... Now what? *edit* Neverming, got it off, will definitly need a metal spatula or something, that thing didnt't want to move!
  13. This is getting pretty frustrating, shipment left on the 6, arrived in Canada on the 8th and it's been stuck there since. (6days and counting) They called me on the 8th had to fill up a ''power of attorney'' form and had to let them handle the custom clearance for me (so had to pay some fees, of course) No news so on monday I called them back, the form got lost, send it to them again right away. called back today, told me the package would get release today (been saying that to me since last friday) I'm starting to get really mad, plus I saw there will be 465$ fees of taxes-handling etc. This is a nightmare, wondering if I'll have my printer by the end of the year...!
  14. My package has been in ''clearance event'' for the past 6 days, Sent all the request paper to them (twice cause they lost them the first time) and I'm still waiting. :/
  15. Anyone else had trouble with the customs? Mine arrived at the custom last thursday and it's been stucked there since :/. Keep telling me it's gonna get release everyday but still waiting, what a pain.
  16. On my side I had the same problem when using my credit card, but it was my credit card company blocking the transation cause they were seeing it as a possible fraud attempt (they called me shortly after to ask me if my card got stolen and if I tried to process this transaction). I did tho was able to pay via paypal but I think they might not be the best option for currency exchange, but it worked on the first attempt without any issue.
  17. Finally received the shipping notification today for my february 27 order, thanks to sander
  18. Received the shipping notification today for my february 27 order, finally Erwin you aldready got your tracking code, wow, that was fast!
  19. It will be 10 weeks for me too this thursday, Tho I saw some people on the forum that ordered after us and got theirs after 6-7 weeks.
  20. Still waiting for my order from february 27... I contacted Sander again to know whatsup...
  21. What? really ? ordered my UM2 on the 27 of february and haven't received yet and I'm getting weird trouble since I changed my shipping address, Now my order status said the payment failed and the shipment is pending and it was paid fully in february and it was saying paid and ready last weeks :/
  22. Ordered on feb 27, it's been 7.5 weeks now, I'm crossing my fingers to have good news by the end of the week! Anyone from Canada? How did that went with the customs? seems like some people from US had a bit of trouble.
  23. Hahaha noooo Wish I knew, the waiting is so long!
  24. Thanks! I'll make sure to check this out before my machine arrives!!
  25. Thanks for the input Gr5! Yah I'm aware that I will need to add support and do some processing before actually printing. I already thicken some part on my Ellie model because some where way to thin. I'm not sure how you guys verify efficiently if some part are at least .4mm? So far I only printed on a stratasys and it's basically a ''plug and play'' printer so never had to do any extra step except adding some thickness to different part. When it comes to jinx Yah this is just my zbrush model I will use to do a game resolution model so nothing has been done to make her ''printable'' I am going to remove the small flothing hair and make sure to pose her hand on something cause those finger ain't gonna do it hehe. Thanks for all the help, I think it's gonna be a pretty big learning curve but i'm sure it's gonna be fun. Still have a very long time before getting my new baby anyway
