  1. Hey, Thanks for the link, that one works in China. Daid, do you know if that link will work if I select the generic heated bed?
  2. Honestly sounds like you cross threaded it. When I was assembling I noted that it went a bit 'tight on first screwing, so I reversed and re tightened. It went with ease on all corners eventually.
  3. Daid you the man! But....holy mackerel, i'm way over my head here! How do I compile all of that into a .hex file I can upload to the UMO with the config I need?
  4. Hey guys, So despite breaking my frame while assembling, i;ve temporarily put it together while i wait for a replacement to turn up so that i can learn some things about printing. I'm also waiting for my ulticontroller to arrive, so mean time ive bought a cheap graphic controller from taobao (chinese aliexpress). I just moved to china, and the internet is crazy limited here. I need to compile custom firmware for an Ultimaker origional with dual extruders, official ultimaker heated bed kit upgrade, and need the following line uncommented apparently: "// #define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER" should become: "#define REPRAP_DISCOUNT_FULL_GRAPHIC_SMART_CONTROLLER" The issue is, I cant get onto github in china! I also dont know where to find the configuration.h file in Cura. So would someone be able to compile the firmware for me and email it to me? If you can help please PM, dont want to put my email here. Thanks for any help you can offer!
  5. Thanks for the reply guys. Ultimaker has indeed been in touch (thanks Sander and Chris), and they are very kindly helping me out.
  6. I just get by. Apps for taxi which show in chinese. I;ve only been here one month too, need to learn a bit of the language. But I dont know where to go to get this kind of thing done. If Ultimaker would entertain it, it would be much easier for me to buy another wooden parts kit
  7. Hmmm, its hard here, I live in Shanghai China and cant speak any chinese so have no idea how/where. I'm prepared to buy another wood parts kit, but just not sure if it can be sold to me. The irony is I had some damaged wood parts in the kit too, so already inquired as to whether I can get/buy another kit but as yet heard nothing back. This situation just makes the new kit mandatory!
  8. To say i'm gutted would be an understatement....I followed the painting guidance on the wiki and really wish I hadn't. When assembling it took a little more force than I would have liked due to the panels having swollen a little. Then this happened: I don't know what to do. Will ultimaker sell me a wooden parts kit, can they? So disappointed, I've waited 4 months for this moment. Advice welcome
  9. Sorry to spam the forum guys, but I've sent a couple of PMs and they don't seem to be being read so not sure if there is a problem with the msg system. Sander if you can, please can you see my PM and let me know whats happening? Thanks,
  10. Whoa, that looks great. Is that a home brewed case and knob? Care to share the stl file? So in terms of firmware, there isn't really that much to it. Is there a way of updating firmware through cura (I need to do it this way as I have UMO and HBK), then taking that file and modifying it? Where is the firmware file located? Sorry for the super basic question, but i'm not up and running yet, still building. How did you get the UM symbol?
  11. Did you manage to get this to work in the end?
  12. Hey OP/Kitwashere, Can you provide more information on the firmware adjustments that were required in order to get this to perform as well as the UM controller? Many Thanks
  13. Its also surprising that this got missed during the ultimata R&D for this kit. So do we all need to go out and buy more fans for the electronics cooling, or is this an isolated case? Not sure how many users have this upgrade, are the other guys getting on ok?
  14. Think there is a common problem with the connector to the HB. Can re-solder if you have a big enough iron (heat soak it huge). If not, I think a few guys made a warranty claim. Better to fix yourself if can though (especially with having to post back from singapore. Think there are a few posts on it.
  15. Even if you did get a mega power supply which can power it all, i'm not certain the UMO electronics and HBK step down are rated for it are they?
  16. That's a pretty major problem. Ultimaker team need to bring out a solution for this, HBK kit is supposed to work out of the box.
  17. Hi Guys, I've ordered the above, and its arriving tomorrow. I've just been reading through the heated bed kit instructions, and there is a part which tells you to loop the power from HBK pcb into the UMO power input with a loop cable. From what I have read, the HBK is 24v, and UMO 19v. So i'm guessing the HBK psu is 24v, and the HBK pcb steps down to 19v to feed the UMO. So, with dual extruders, I believe the power requirement will be too great to install it this way. So for this setup, do you just leave the loop cable unused, and keep the original PSU for the UMO, and plug the new PSU into the HBK? Keeping the power for each effectively seperated? Hope that makes sense.
  18. LePaul, did you install your kit in the end? If so how are you getting on with it?
  19. So, if I had a second pt-100, and a second 24v heater, would that be the only thing I'd need to change in the dual kit? I.e would the rest of it fit and plug in with these parts? Power supply is defo an issue though, does the hbk run off 19v too?
  20. Regarding the PT100, does the UMO+ now use a different temp sensor on the head? So no more thermocouple?
  21. Hmmm, i'm not sure what to do now! I was leaning toward the UMO+ as it has all the upgraded electronics. When you say its not supported, I understand that UM haven't incorporated it into the UMO+ design. But, is there a hack? Would the above work? Apart from the heated bed kit, have the electronics changed on the UMO+? Or is it identical apart from this? Thanks,
  22. Hi guys, I ordered an UMO, but in the light of the new product announcement, have made some enquiries with UM to change the order to a UM+. I originally ordered the dual extruder kit, this being the main driver to get a UMO. So the question is, will the dual kit fit the UMO+? As I understand, a separate power supply would be needed, as the inbuilt one can't drive two heated heads and the bed. So, the options I guess are to either disconnect the heated bed, install a relay and give it a second power supply....OR, and this is preferable if possible....Can I run a second power supply in parallel, at the same voltage to increase the current available to the UMO+? Can the board handle heating two heads and the bed if it has sufficient power? If i had to go with option 1, would i have to make custom firmware, or would the heated bed option in cura still work? Would the wiring be the same as wiring an after market heated bed in terms of the relay? As it happens, I have already bought an after market HBK, so have the relay and PSU to hand. Thanks for any advice.
  23. I think most people with these types of bed use a piece of glass over the top a la UM2, and smear a bit of glue onto it before printing.
  24. Hmmm, I like the open hackabiilty of the um original over the um2. Also, It was me who delayed the shipping date until 20th of September of so when I ordered as I'm out of the country until then. It's a tough one, but as long as um continue to support the umo, I guess it's not all bad. Would be disappointed as said though if they either supplied an upgraded model for the same price, or reduced the price just after mine ships. Wish there was more transparency over this kind of thing.
