Design Challenge! UM3 Spool Holder Extension (Adapter)

Got my UM3E -- discovered that a good amount of my filament spools will not fit when making use of dual extrusion.

Looking for some motivated designers to create an adapter between the filament guide and the reel holder to lengthen said item.

Looking for Ultimaker to share their ideas here and maybe some files/design specs to speed up the design process~

I'm not fast at all when designing (I take the methodical, incremental approach) so hoping for assistance here if no one else steps up~

Note:

While a longer reel holder could be another option, I'm looking for a cleaner option; like an adapter.

Reason for this is that this adapter can be further iterated upon to accommodate smaller spools like taulman nylon.

Who do I need to talk to in order to get access to the design files of the revised reel holder in the UM3?

I'm hoping to put together a sketch of what I'm attempting to accomplish here within a week or so (as life permits).

I would be interested in this as well as I think a lot of my rolls won't fit. I don't know for sure until my unit comes Friday.

All the design files of the UM3 will be released in a few months. I don't think they'll give the files out earlier than that.

I've been wanting to re-design the spool holder since the first time I saw it. I have a few ideas. Question is if I'll be motivated enough to finally sit down and make something. Motivation for stuff like that has been lacking for me lately which sucks :( This post did spark a couple of ideas though...

I think when redesigning it there are 2 things to do;

1) have an adapter to raise the spool about 5 cm. the standard um3 has dropped the spool holder by about 5 cm which is enough to prevent the large spools to fit.. so that is no 1.

2)have an extension to have both the large spools as well as the small spools.

that being said;

i found this a real issue.. but now after a couple of months i don't see this as an issue anymore..

i just use the extended um3 that has the spool holder high enough for the larger spools i use. i have no interest to use a large spool together with a smaller spool... this would either mean a super hugo dual color print, as in 20+ days.. or it would be with PVA and the only real PLA i've found to be working perfectly with the PLA is ultimaker PLA which does not come in high spools..

so I don't think I'll actually be using the larger spool holder...
