Hello,

I am interested in a tool that imports gcode and saves the rendered visualization as a stl file. Is this possible? If it is not, what is the data structure behind the current gcode viewer plug in? Thanks!

Wow.  That's going to be hard to do and even if you got it to work it would be pretty ugly.  You would lose a lot of the resolution of the original part.

There are lots of much simpler gcode viewers than cura.  For example there is http://gcode.ws website which is written completely in javascript I think.  You could start with that.  cura is much more complicated.

The current-gcode viewer is rendered in a shader that uses vertex displacement, this makes it damn annoying to get that data and save it as STL.

Even if you would create a model out of the lines specified in the gcode, it would not be a very "nice" model to work with.

At one time, AutoDesk had a tool that would let you load a gcode file and then "remesh" it into an stl, but it has been "retired".

Some of its functionality is now part of MeshMixer, but loading gcode files is not.
