How about copy and pasting models inside the editor?

Did you try to select and then multiply the model? Is that not the same thing?

How about copying groups of models inside one file and retaining the copied layout?

I am not sure what you mean by this. If you multiply the group, each group maintains the layout of the group. If you save a project file, all of its properties are kept including layout of models.

I think I've posted a bit carelessly about these two things.

Yes, multiply works to copy items, I was not thinking straight. I really wanted to post about the keyboard shortcut, not the function itself. Not sure why I changed the subject there...

So, sure, the "m" key (together with the  "ctrl" or "command" key) is logically selected for the multiply function, but I find it not really ergonomic if I want to use the function in rapid succession.  I would like to suggest changing the combination or adding another shortcut for it positioned near the left hand area.

I am also an idiot for not noticing the group function, thanks for pointing that out.

    the keyboard shortcut

    Ahhh, gotcha... 🙂

Edit: Just thought of this...have you tried the right click menu? Everything can be accessed with the mouse.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
