Material Station Profile Compatibility List

Is there a list somewhere that documents the third party materials that have profiles in Cura Marketplace that are compatible with the Material Station?

We recently got a material station for our S5, and the materials that we enjoyed using without it (MatterHackers NylonX, for instance) now show as non-compatible with the material station.

This issue primarily revolves around the material unloading process, which needs to be fine tuned for each material to ensure that the resultant tip on the end of the filament is the correct shape.

I realize that I can run these materials as "generic" materials, and fine tune the profiles, but one of the things I like about the Ultimaker is the availability of these manufacturer-supplied material profiles. Anyone who has spent hours fine tuning a profile for a novel material on a consumer-level printer knows what I mean.

Anyway, it would be nice if there were a list somewhere of all current Material Station compatible materials, as that would heavily influence my material purchases in the future.

This is the error I am referring to:

Thanks,

-Matt

Such a search/filter should be added later, but the initial thought is that as a user you have a need for a certain material properties, so it would be pretty quickly discovered if that material is compatible with a material station or not. In contrary of using a filter to find all materials compatible with a material station, and select one of those material available. Supply should not dictate the need.

But we do realize it would probably still be easy, so I believe that is in the works.

While we're at it, it is also good to mention that the amount of profiles available for the material station is and will be growing in the upcoming (relative) short period of time. So a material not compatible now, may be in the near future.

I understand that the materials properties drive the material choice, but there are often several materials that have similar properties that would all work equally well for the same part.

For instance, if I needed carbon fiber reinforced nylon, the Ultimaker Marketplace has many options:

    • 3D Universe Nylon Carbon Fiber
    • 3DXTECH CarbonX™ CF-Nylon Gen 3
    • Lehvoss LUVOCOM 3F PAHT CF 9742 BK
    • Fiber Force Nylforce Carbon Fiber
    • Matterhackers NylonX
    • Polymaker PolyMide™ PA6-CF
    • eSUN ePA-CF

Assuming these all have similar materials properties, I would choose based on which has a profile that is compatible with the material station.

Is there a way to tell whether a profile is compatible with the material station or not, without loading it on to the machine and trying to select it?

i guess, the site is still a "work in progress" and not all compatible materials are up-to-date yet,

but it seems there is a plan to add a flag called "Optimized for Material Station".

    See:

Having that flag would be a big step in the right direction, thanks for pointing that out!
