Extrusion/adhesion issues on S5 with PLA

Hi all,

I am experiencing the issue pictured below. What I find odd is it prints the brim perfectly every time but when it then moves on to printing inside it the walls don't meet and the adhesion seems to get non-existent.

Any suggestions?

Hello, are your brim speed and initial layer speed of the same speed?

Hi, my brim speed is 20mm/s and so is my initial layer speed.

So after some research and changing the layer height to work with the magic number, this happened.

I've checked the feeder tension and all seems good.

I really don't know what else to try...

Okay so new development - after changing the print to a single extrusion rather than dual (for supports) everything seems to be working fine (see picture below).

What I can't understand is why the first layer on my previous post was fine for over half and then ran into issues.

    Any ideas?

That is indeed strange. Let me check in with some product experts what they think of it.

@aine_me, could you share your project file from Cura and the log files from your Ultimaker so we can have a look at those records and know exactly what your configuration is? Thanks! If you don't wish for them to be public, you can also send them to me in a DM.

Hi @SandervG, yes I can, how do I do that?

The project file you can save from Cura and the log files are under preferences; maintenance; save logs to USB. (or something down those lines)

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
