As far as I know it is not possible yet to use 802.1x with the printer.
But maybe with the new manual setup via config file, it will come in the future.

On the other hand, it could be possible. Not tested, just checked the parameters of the config file.
Checkout the general description here:
https://support.ultimaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018123920
And then the manual of the parameters which are possible:
https://manpages.debian.org/testing/connman/connman-service.config.5.en.html
So when you try it with
Security=ieee8021x
EAP=tls | ttls | peap (whatever you need)
Identity=username
Passphrase=password
But checkout also the other parameters in the documentation, because you need more parameters in the file.

Oh, that's outstanding. I thought the config file feature in the new firmware would be helpful, but the template didn't have the right fields. I didn't follow the deeper link explaining the full capabilities of Debian.
I'll give it a shot and report back. Thanks so much!
Edited by prof_westAnd they actually have an example file for eduroam, which is perfect given my university setting. Outstanding.
Great, please report back when you have tested it!

Yep, so I did manage to get it working! This was my config file:
[service_wifi]
Type = wifi
Name = *SSID name*
Passphrase = *my password*
EAP = peap
Phase2 = MSCHAPV2
Identity = *my username*
Thanks for the feedback and I am glad I could help.
Happy printing 🙂
