Posted · Missing layers on my design after slicing

Hi, I'm new to 3D printing and I've been trying to print scale model cars but for some reason the windows wont show up when slicing and many of the layers will simply disappear. I'm attaching the file so anyone can see it. Thanks in advance for your help.

I haven't checked your file but in 99% of the cases the wall thickness is too thin. You can try to enable the Cura option "print thin walls".

I took a look at the file. It is really messed up. 3DS MAX would not even import it:

I usually use MAX to check files as it is robust and has an STL checking system.

I did get it to load in 3DCoat. But it was still messed up.

Then I opened it into Cura 4.8 and it came in tiny (A). It also produced this error message about it not being manifold (B).

Scaling the model up in Cura I got this really weird shading. I have never seen this before.

I really do not think this car can be salvaged as it is.

I think you are right. This is a really messed up model.

The developers of the 3D Builder app in Windows seem to have done a fine job.

This is the OBJ file opened in Cura and shown in X-Ray view.  As Nallath and Kmanstudios indicate, it's a real mess.

I loaded the OBJ in MS 3D Builder and it spent a while repairing the file.  I saved it as a 3mf file and opened that in Cura.  There are three separate pieces that make up the car.  Whether I left them Grouped, or Un-Grouped them, it sliced and I think it looked pretty good (considering what a mess it was).

I generally hold Microsoft in low esteem but somebody did some good work on 3D Builder.

The attached 3mf file is an export from Cura with the parts Un-Grouped.

EDIT:  Two of the three models that make up the assembly are the mufflers.

Jeez.  It took me way to long to figure that one out.  I believe that qualified as a senior moment for me.
