  3. Sorry Daid,

but you said it yourself: "But they pretty much stopped supporting and developing for Ultimaker when their own printer came to market"

If you buy a software you should be able to use it. They had time since October 2012 to fix the Mac connection problem. I send them log-file and crash report file and what happens... nothing. And sorry it is not good idea to say to a custmer, that it is a problem of the customer, that a software is not working, because he spend less money for the product.

You see my post before. I think netfab is good alternave to Cura. Both programs have their own advantages and disadvantages, but i think if there is a Cura problem YOU will help. Of cause sometimes people in a company have less time, because other things are more priorised. I think mostly you can talk to the customer and they will understand. But it is not a good idea to show the customer that he is only a cash cow and a complite idiot to buy a produkt and that happens to me with netfab.

Printing with my Ultimaker is only a hobby for me. So it is not important to get help directly. But when i spend money for something i will recogniced as an adult customer.

btw: I have got an update of my two ticket: They have them closed without commend. Nice company with good support.

  4. After one year with my ultimaker i can say the idea to have more than one software is still a good one. But the support of netfab is very horroble. I think i am a quiet person but they makes me crasy.

I called the support direcly (i come from germany), because there was no reaction of an support ticket since 2 weeks. I got the answer that this is still normal and they ask me what i expect i have bought only the Ultimaker engine licence. For a faster reaction time i have to pay more money. My support Ticket is still open with no reaction since 16.09.2013.

Printing with a mac still not working (only save gcode and print than with UltiController)

Dual extrusion not working (perhaps a firmeware problem)

  6. @Othar:

First i want to say, that the huntress is a very nice model. Everyone i showed the model are very suprised about the quality that is possible. I have seen your pricture and i loved them.

As i wrote before 3d printing is an hobby and i will make no money with the results.

in general, people who have problems with my models are those who try to print too fast, change model scale or layer height or whose printers are poorly calibrated and i can do anything against that.

You are right i have skaled the model. I skaled it down to an high of 12 cm. Layer 0,06 1 perimeter. The result was in my eyes perfect, but not so perfect you will get in professional.

Your model are very good, very good described and documented. I love your concept of donation and when i print another modell from you i will donate! For me it is as sayed before importend to print first and than i will pay.

  7. My first print with my new Dual extrusion KIT work. But the result is not as good i expected.

    1. the not aktive hot end loses less material. so i get a shadow print

    2. sometimes one hot end scratch over printed structures

I think i have an calibration problem. I tryed to make it like described, but i am not shure because i had some problems to adjust the printhead. The long screws with the black spacer are strong to move.

    3. What is a good idea to handle the second filament? I use mostly 2 KG PLA

  8. 3D printing is my hobby. I have no business to do with. I enjoy the result of my printings and show them other. For me i think there is a market buying 3d models. But i think the problem is, that if there is no busines you do not want to spend a lot of money for buying models you are not shure the print quality is good enough.

Example: I have printed the huntress. It is realy nice. The best print i have made. But if you give someone the printed huntress and ask him what he wants to pay for it, you wil l not get your money back you have to pay for the filament. There are some problems with the modell (End of the bow, arrows, typical overhangs) you will not be able to solve.

    Conclusion:

    1. I will only pay for a modell i am shure i get it printed with my "hobby" Ultimaker printer and my skills to adjust the printer are good enough.

    2. the cost are very low (about 1 Euro) or i am able to deside after printing (donate)

    3. a good printing description is helpful

  10. The netfab engine download link (Mac version) from Ultimaker is very old. Write an email to netfab and you will get a new one. The new one works fine except that i am was not able to print via USB with the MAc version. My first try was fine. Printing with MAC via USB was sucessfully. But after my first firmware update with CURA it was not possible to print anymore. But for me it is not problem, because i use the UltiController. With the PC version printing work fine via USB.

  12. @Ronald: In the past i had the same problem with bad filament you described. But that was not my problem in this case. With the help of Sander from Ultimaker support i found my problem. After the long print the Teflon Insulator was a little bit deformed and this was the reason why the filament was not able to go through the teflon insulator without touching it.

After exchanging the teflon insulator my problem was solved. I was very supprised because it was very less touching the filament.

When my filament diameter becomes above 3.05 mm it does not fit through the owden tube anymore.

When the diameter rises above 3.20mm it is diffcult to get the filament out of the bowden tube.

It looks like a blockage in the hot end, but after taking it appart several times I never had a blockage with the V2 Hotend.

Some where in the Ultimaker description you will find that the filament should not have a diameter bigger than 3.1 mm. If the filament is bigger than 3.1 mm you will first get trouble with the brass pipe and than with the bowden tube.

  13. The diameter of my fillament i used in Cura is 2.82 mm. I measure 1m fillament. The real diameter of my fillament varies from 2.83 to 2.90 mm.

Could it be, that there is something destroyed after printing a lot of hours (perhaps 5 hours) in the air...

I have tryed to print a smal calibration pyramid. Same behavior...a small area the print is good and than a smaler area is bad.
