  1. That looks pretty nice. How big is it?
  2. Another utility print! I'm happy to see this one work better with the UM2 then with my previous Shapeways print
  3. Alright I soldered the wire connection and its all good now. It was the yellow wire in my case.I printed a spiral and cover in Flex PLA and its all clean Thanks everyone. You all made this a lot simpler
  4. Yeah thats pretty much it. Just smell worst than usual
  5. Thats a pretty high temp for bed! I didnt even thought it could go that high. I print nylon taulman bridge at 240° and bed at 50° with glue.
  6. Hello, Since a few days there is a strong smell coming from my printer when I get back home from a while away. Smell pretty similar to pot actually. I have been using my printer a lot lately but its the first time it smell that strong. I print only PLA coming from Ultimaker at the moment... Anyone else got a similar situation? Any tricks? Lol PM
  7. Looks nice. Kids would love those Is it as rigid as regular PLA? What brand did you get?
  8. awesome! I'll get into that whenever I can... and probably look at sorting the file list by name
  9. actually even down to 1.6% is very good (5Mb obj file) very impressive reduction
  10. Meshlab worked like a charm!! It took a minute to load the file and about the same to do the reduction. I had to reduce to 12.5% (half 3 times) or around 1.2M polys to get it to load in Cura. File is 50Mb now when every other things like normals and vertex colors are out of the way too. @Daid Cant wait to see that new Cura working
  11. Hello, I have obj files I want to load in Cura but some files are huge (worst file is 1Gb) and that is not even merged as one file yet. I'll reduce the poly count as much as I can but this is coming from ZBrush and some mesh are around 10M polys. Is there any way to load files that big to prepare gcode files for print? I know that the UI support less than the engine but I dont know if that could handle it + I would need to be able to validate the slicing before doing a 20 hours print... Thanks PM
  12. Guys your posts are great references for me. It is the same problem. I'll fix the wire connection this week-end. @NickWu the photos are very helpfull!
  13. Well the wifi doesn't get activated by the UM2. I don't know if its because of the way it read the card or if its because its missing something but it doesn't work for now. Is the firmware opensource? I know Cura is but I would like to peak at the code (depending of the language).
  14. It really seems located at the connection of the main wire line and the print head so if the molex connector is at that place it could be the cause. I'll look into it more tonight. I noticed the faulty connection this morning just before leaving for work.
  15. Actually the fans in the video start spinning because I turned the wire a bit. otherwise they just don't start. So yes depending on the wire position they could stop spinning mid print or just not start at all.
  16. Hello, I found a connection issue that affect the cooling fans power on a UM2 I got last week. The issue seems to be located at the head of the printer where the main wire line goes in. If I turn the wire around the Bowden the connection is restored. The wires that connect directly to the cooling fans are ok and the rear fan is always working. I'm pretty sure this is the cause of so many issues I'm having with warping and overhangs. Has you can see the new print in progress is much cleaner when I make sure the fans work. I know the fans are getting on after 0.5mm height but are they supposed to always stay on at 100% during the print (based on cura settings)? What is the normal behavior of the cooling fan? How should I go and takle use in order to fix the connection issue? Thanks PM
  17. cool. Do you intend to share that model eventually? Got a 6 years old that would really like that
  18. @PeggyB holy s*** wow! These are pretty nice. @AaronAlai looking good. Cant wait to get a second extruder on that UM2 eventually... I'll keep you posted for 3d hubs. I have a few friends with 3D needs at the very least, figurines, sculpting, start wars models and such. This is what it does to be in the game industry haha
  19. Well they don't actually have a solution. It just work with their Sailfish firmware. I've set all the other parameters already. Also found this which contain good information http://www.extrud3d.com/flashair Reading more this could be a case of being too far from my router. I'll have to try this later since the printer is in another room and that the card seems to support close range only. stay tuned
  20. Alright got the FlashAir 16Gb sd card. The good news: - The card is recognised by the UM2 (storage wise that is) - The Wifi works on my camera - You can upload stuff to it from your pc - You can browse data from any device that can connect to a wifi The bad news: The UM2 doesn't seems to keep the card active at all or at least not in a way that could activate the wifi. Even while printing the wifi doesn't activate. I've been reading other printers have used that card too https://groups.google.com/d/topic/flashforge/YKDwPndCoks/discussion
  21. Yeah I noticed they are listed based on last item added to the card. Even folders aren't put in first.
  22. Well its been a busy Fathers Day weekend and I spent most of it printing stuff and having my little girl checking it out almost as much as me hahaha!! So... first actual "usefull" prints to prove this is not just an expensive man toy Printed some snaps to clip my plexiglass over the air conditionner. I dont know for you but here most of the stuff they provide dont really support horizontal sliding windows. Its not the best looking thing but it still the best air conditionning setup I ever made Also finished my tweaks on my 1 pound spool holder version. You can check it out here https://www.youmagine.com/designs/um2-1-pound-spool-holder#!design-information And prepared my Hub for 3dHubs.com ...clearly not as stylish as the prints some of you are making. This community is crazy good!!! Cheers PM
  23. @LeoDDC Wow thats a really nice model. I like your support too That must have taken a while to print.
  24. Wow that made a great difference. Now with no support and printed standing. I still had some bad overhand but when changing layer height from 0.06 to 0.1 it removed almost every issue. I guess thinner layers is not always what you want Thanks illuminarti. This have been very helpfull and educative information!! PM
