@Daid: I unfortunately already found that out the hard way (during a print, not with this ). I have a nice big horizontal slit in the nozzle that plastic is sticking to. I've asked for a quote regarding some spare parts (including a nozzle) more than a week ago but so far no reply yet.

I must admit that for longer prints I am still struggling with S3D as well. I've come to an overnight print twice already finding the filament retracted so far back it was almost pushed out the feeder. The problem with an empty nozzle (unprimed) is also something I've experienced a couple times). Pretty sure it is indeed related to that multiplier. As a matter of precaution I tend to use the "move material" function before a print to make sure the nozzle is full. Like I stated before, it has a learning curve and you need to do some experimenting to get things working. Even though I like the program a lot I still haven't come to the point where I'm comfortable firing of a print being sure it will end well
  3. Hmm let's say an hour and a half... I can do that and still be there by 17h. I'll just take the printer with me to work then Do we have to bring stuff besides the printer? Tools or so?

I was thinking more along the lines of the dimensions and so on
  5. Anyone tried https://github.com/michthom/MIDI-to-CNC/ yet on the Ultimaker2? I know its not printing per se, but I wanted to hear how wel my UM2 makes music (I would have a big music box!) Wasn't sure if the pre-programmed settings for the UM1 apply for version 2 and didn't want to risk damaging it. Anyone who can convert the settings to v2?
  6. If I can make it, I'll see if i can bring my camera and mix something together. Unless someone else was already planning on doing that?
  7. Hmm, Utrecht, I'm from Belgium. Any idea what the traffic is like between Antwerp and Utrecht between 15 and 17h? I like the idea of coming

The support is definitely a lot better. Easier to remove and less "present" (as in bulky). Also, there is a full manual support mode, in case you think the app adds too much or if you can do better As for the quality, sure, it's right up there with Cura imo. I've only had my printer a couple of weeks, so not really entitled to a "professional opinion" yet, but there it is You should take a look here: http://www.3duniverse.org/2014/04/03/review-of-simplify3d-v2-0-1/ There might not be a trial, but their videos give a very good impression of what S3D can mean for you. I know it did for me.
  9. It would be nice if there were some entries on how the post-processing was done as well. I'm getting the hang of the printing, but the cleaning up and other helpful techniques still elude me. It's pretty hard to find a decent source for those.

I've bought it and I think it's pretty awesome. Unfortunately it comes with kind of a steep learning curve before you get decent prints out of it. That being said: You can control pretty much everything and if you're really into 3d printing it's worth it imho.
  11. I've uploaded a new model consisting out of 2 documents. No regular pictures yet. As a preview image it picks the document I uploaded last (while this is just a clip). How can I make it pick the first document as the default image?
  12. @Takei: Most important for me is the only once part. I guess that I'll add the commands again to the first part I print after an update to be sure. I asked because the first print I did with the MK8 mounted had retraction issues. It left strings all over the place. But then I reset the firmware back to factory settings (couldn't find the default E-steps value) and remounted the original gear and it still had the issue. So was related to other things
  13. @Takei: So is this the only thing we need to change then? One time in a print? Or is the retraction update etc still needed? There are so much different things going on in here it's hard to follow
  14. I don't think its a bug, it's just that it requires so much processing power that there's nothing left for the program's GUI... It's the same for example when I have to resize those models. During redrawing you can hardly input values. All of a sudden you have an object that is 5000% instead of 50 or so Like I said, it's a nice feature but having some control over when it actually recalculates would be very nice. It's a waste of CPU power if it is constantly redoing everything every time I add a 0 in an edit field you know
  15. Having the render time updating automatically on a change is very handy for small, simple models, but for more complex ones it's pretty cumbersome. If I'm editing some plugins the program becomes unresponsive until it has finished updating the projections. Is there a way (or if not, please consider this a feature request), to stop it recalculating on its own and do it manually?
  16. 3Poro: considering the bowden tube I'm sure it won't for all the points you mentioned. But the subject was the wear & tear on the bottom of the feeder plastic. I'm pretty convinced it will help there, the bowden does a pretty good job of keeping the filament in check imo.
  17. @Nicolinux: I don't think I've had any problems following the fact that the printer is directly on the table. It's the first I hear about cushioning. Has this been tested/proven? I'm all about getting better prints, as everyone is probably
  18. I've printed myself https://www.youmagine.com/designs/ultimaker-2-power-cable-filament-guide pretty much the first day: I think it really helps as the plastic is going in almost straight up.
  19. Seeing how it broke that did occur to me as well... I'm going to try to print the arm again with simplify3d, there I can determine at which angle the infill is printed. I'm thinking their default setting of -45º and 45º would be a good idea as it is as far from perpendicular to the forces as can be
  20. I don't know what happened either. It was printed at 100% infill. It just broke completely as I was trying to undo the latch. I pushed the arm a bit closer to the body - as to not have to pull too hard on the latch - and it just snapped. The arm wasn't even touching the body yet so it's not that I was pushing extremely hard.
  21. Right... So that happened. I'm back to the original feeder for now. At least it worked fine for a full 3 days
  22. Redid the print with IRobertI's feeder, first I thought it actually worsened (left) but then I realised I didn't raise the temp to 230º. So i tried again and the result is on the right:
  23. I sure would hope so, it's the whole reason I bought it already... Hoping to have accumulated enough experience with the one by the time the kit would come out It is what they claim on the site after all.
  24. I bought it http://www.ebay.com/itm/191149412325, seemed the easiest (also bought a piece of bowden tube in the same store, since I was ordering anyway )
