As someone from Ultimaker was filming, I did not make a video myself. But for those who can't wait or are interested in what things looked like (and a "working" version of the chocolate printing): Check my album below. Youmagine link of the models is included in the pictures.

I think I saw 282 mentioned somewhere. Anyhow: I set the 365 that was calculated higher up for that MK8 gear. Unfortunately I have to put the flow rate on 1.05 to not get any underextrusion. So is my hardware different somehow or was that e-step value wrongly calculated?

@Travis for a full 5 minutes yes I oiled it up a bit internally when assembling hoping for smoother movement. Unfortunately while trying to rotate things it "flew" out of my hand and the top gear broke a tooth on landing. I probably had too much oil left on my hands (Lets just ignore the clumsiness for now). Guess I have to print that one again, but didn't have time yesterday as I had to bag my printer for tonights' meet. It'll probably be something for tomorrow. Ow btw: I have exactly the same issue: More than half of my prints are because of the "oooh"s and "aaah"s of my better half hehe.

@Wallen is that first shot really just after printing? It all looks so smooth... Awesome job!

There's a http://makezine.com/projects/make-34/skill-builder-finishing-and-post-processing-your-3d-printed-objects/ on post processing techniques you can use. I've tried the welding and it works, but like Conz said: you really need to practice this, it gets nasty pretty fast

What dremel bits do you guys use for the cleanup? No matter what I try, I always end up with burnt plastic

@Travis: Thanks for the geared heart... My wife was looking over my shoulder when I was reading this topic and now I have to print it too! Anyway: I didn't enable rafting so some of the pins got loose after about half an hour of printing. I didn't notice right away so the printhead moved them and "fused" them with one if the teeth of the gear next to it. The rest was still in fairly good shape so I didn't want to restart everything. So I paused the print and cut off the fused and broken parts. Since the head was already fairly high I would never get adhesion while printing the rest of 3 pins I had to remove. So I got out the trusty 3Doodler and put a bunch of transparent PLA on the bed of about the same height so it could continue printing without moving it around every time: It printed through the night and everything else is looking fairly well. Too bad I have some temperature/feed problems after a couple layers. Luckily that should all be on the inside of the final piece and not that visible

USB printing on the UM2 is perfectly possible afaik. I connected to the printer via Printrun last week to update the E-steps and should be able to print as well. I believe you just have to switch to Reprap gcode instead of UltiGCode or so, don't exactly recall. I'm not planning on doing so though, the SD card thing is way handier

Hmm, as in you have someone that forwards stuff for you? Or some other special arrangement? I'm from Belgium but I wouldn't mind having a USA forwarding address either!

I asked for a quote on some of the parts and got quoted the following prices: 1266 Bowden Tube € 17,50 1154 Print Table Glass € 57,50 1301 Integrated Nozzle Heater Block 3mm Filament € 69,50 1313 Model Cooling Fan 12VDC 0.1A € 15,00 p.st. 1330 Hot-end Cooling Fan 5VDC 0.008A € 20,00 p.st. € 14 shipment cost from NL to BE, for a distance of lets say about 200km. I all find this ridicoulously expensive. €57 for a glass plate? Is it gold coated?

@gr5 I saw those indeed, cool idea, printing with the fans off and upside down. I'll have to order some other colors of filament for that though... Don't think silver flowers are that nice

Sander I actually went to a pharmacy and the biggest they have (knew of/could order) was 50ml (but it has 60ml on it). So I wouldn't know where to get these. I do have 2 of them, so if they're easy to get out of the Bowden, I could fill them both up You can see in my goodies bag picture I've added them already:

I'm not expecting things for free so I will gladly pay for it (although how stupid would I be to refuse if it were free?) but I do keep my promises. Meet the goody bag for next monday:

Managed to get my hands onto 60ml syringes but that was the biggest they had. Is that enough or does it really need to be 100?

Garry: It's an original nozzle but the hole was drilled bigger.

@Daid: I'm from Belgium, we have excellent chocolate chip cookies I'll bring some!

@Daid: That would be awesome, I'll make sure to bring some cash to pay for them (I assume you don't have a money terminal )

@Daid: I really like the hacked version having lots more info on the display by default but it seems it's been a month since they pulled in your latest changes. It's too bad because I would really like that info as well.

@Sander: Perhaps protospace could update the event description as well to include the syringe part?

Now I'm curious! Is that a syringe including needle or just the plastic body? So basically we have to bring filament (color of our choosing), the printer and if possible a syringe.

oh... that's not the answer I was hoping for lol. I hope flowers once in a while fix this.... Hmm, perhaps I can print flowers?

Indeed. Plus I also imagine you'd need other parts to accomplish the hack... Are those provided, do we have to pay for them. I wouldn't mind at al, it's no more than normal. But it would be handy to know all that in advance

I was drinking a cup of coffee yesterday watching the printer do its thing and I noticed that since i got my UM² the rest of my work is just lying there. I'm so excited and captivated by all things 3D printing that nothing else moves. I'm pretty sure that if I wouldn't print something for my wife once in a while she would've smacked me around already I was wondering: Do any of you guys have that feeling as well? Does it get better with time?
