  1. ahh yes i meant metallic rather than metal, my bad, i need to look into those paints, but with lighting we can pretend its perfect! lol. tried to be as creepy as poss...
  2. Here you go.. loads of unfinished bits but luckily most in cavities and stuff but some bad ones here and there too. Will take more phots later, off to sleeps now. Night!
  3. My answer is usually....PATINA!! YAY hides all the problems and makes them look cool! Paint may also have to be the answer as i can't sand or polish it now because the unplated areas edges will rip up and might tear more plating off so i need to be more careful around them, A few of my techniques I need to perfect, and certain conditions are real issue. Im going to be painting my new prints, this is going to be the last plate for a while. I want to experiment with car style high gloss finishes. I've seen duplicolur even has a copper effect spray, but the base needs to be polished metal as its a transparent paint! I've decided Red Gloss is going to be my next finish. Lol. I wanted to paint UnicronV2 in red, but defaulted to a plate. While I prepare to remove my lizard out of his blue bath, I thought I'd entertain you with a bit of DYK? (did you know?) DKY I kept snapping off one spike on this model so I got my dremmel and filed a nail down to roughy the same size drilled a small hole in the old spot and replaced I it as I have found that once something breaks either replace it with something that is far stronger or it will simply keep breaking again and again further down the line! funnily enough I also just remembered that I forgot to glue it in! Oh bummer, oh well. it was a real tight for so should be fine. My lizard is now a secret weapon!
  4. This one is gonna be a fail....sucks, but i need to modify the model before i print it again anyways. Have far too many issues with my paint at the moment and the solution is a bit too contaminated as well. I may try to patch fix it, but there are spots on it that have refused to plate. not conductive enough and all my wires have come loose. The problem with plating is that there are so many things that can go wrong for you if you do it casually at home in your kitchen! ill post pics either way, the cape is not working but you may not see it from the front anyway!.
  5. Just done my unicron v2 yesterday, will defo do shape shifter today, even with my contaminated plating solution...v1 and v2
  6. Pre Patina photos... fell asleep while plating this! woke up at 5am on my sofa!
  7. All colourfabb pla/pha with brushed acetone. Some red some blue some transparent. But all smoothed pla/pha from Colorfabb. Then electroplated with copper with varying densities of coatings and different matt/gloss finishes.
  8. As I said in the main thread, I have loads of these faces I can knock them out within two hours now, and a bunch of photos, but I didnt take a photo of all of them as i got bored of it. Here are a few, you get the jist, quick 1.5Hour plates, 6 per day, matt plates mean the solution needs boosting or replacing.....or something else.
  9. Settings? Nah not me. I go for one click solutions. Hence loving the s5! I take all my photos on my sammy note 4 and uploaded these to autodesks 123 catch/memento/recap. All the same pretty much. Catch 123 was crap qualilty mind you....AND these arent raw scans i do posy work in zbrush. I showed my workflow in one of the threads were i talked about scanning and ios scanning software that utilises depth sensors....which is none that i know of. Lol. Photogrammetry scanners dont do hair too well! I love drawing hair though so i got no problems there. Autodesks apps were literally upload your photos and wait to see whay it makes of them. Agisoft is the same but has options for manual adjustments which doesnt help much on live subjects. Its a bit noisier than recap in my view and demands a bit better lighting conditions. I took far better photos of those faces ages ago, Ill post them up so you can see the details. They are all retouched by hand.
  10. They are my work colleagues, im going to do bobble dogs as well. Ill do silly bobble heads for myself. Ive done 21 of these. Still got a few at home! They are memento scans.
  11. not sure if these will ever be finished but this is the arty direction they have taken....mamy more to do no many hours to do them in.
  12. Thanks, I could have done it yesterday but was tired from work...tired of work more like! Lol. My new copper arrived today and kinda reminded me to do it even though i didnt use it. My current copper is unfortunately contaminated! But ill do the shapeshifter tomorrow and see how that goes in the 3ltr, this was a 1 ltr job. Came out better than expected considering how many factors are against me with my current setup. Something always seems to go wrong somewhere. This damn shoe wanted to float so bad it really annoyed me!
  13. ....as the title suggests, but perhaps a bit too shiny! will age it later, if at all, but most likely will, nothing stays shiny for long with me these days....lol. Had fun with the photos....took way too many as usual.
  14. Look good to me! I assume you used PVA support for these sperical prints?
  15. Thanks man, I think I got this scanning business down now... Im happy I don't need to rely on expensive online services anymore! I just found some 4K drone footage of some iconic london buildings! only from a few angles but I don't really care, I've not printed buildings before and can't wait to give it a go this weekend!
  16. And the Black Edition....(pre plated of course) I went real light on the acetone as i wanted to keep all the tiny details that an abs acetone vapour bath would have no chance in keeping. I used a tiny brush to apply the acetone. I should have gone heavier but after a plate ill be able to polish it up anyway!
  17. And my first real agisoft scan and print. I spent a few hours cleaning this up but didnt really need to. Only one lace was messed up and the logos. The rest was cosmetic. And a the sole is simplified because i lost interest as it was only a test.... Cute Airmax 95, my left one. Heard some weird grinding sounds from the head during this one so glad to see it came out ok!
  18. Thats why I love Dynamesh in Zbrush. It a real game changer. It means you simply remesh whenever in trouble and, as if by magic your have clean geometry. Obviously you need to understand what you are doing in the first place but once you do, meshes are totally irrelevant! It truly is like working with clay!
  19. Ill show you easy booleans! Zbrush style! Realtime style too. Clean and sexy, and as many as you like!
  20. Yes please. How do you do all those greeble things. They look more bespoke than the usual hull stuff. Love the boosters as well!
  21. Ill show you how to plate you show me how to make spaceships! Deal? Lol. I love ulysses, i already modeled the cartoon guy!
  22. I like the idea of voxels and will explore this......
  23. Just for anyone else trying this lithopane stuff. White is probably the worst colour to be doing it with. Its just very unforgiving letting in light compared to other colours.
  24. I dont know 3dcoat. Almost installed it, for retopo right? The alternative would be to dynamesh it in zbrush and spit it out again. Im guessing its essentially the same thing. Taking a load of crap polys and essentially wrapping them i good polys fixing any internal turbulence. The tightness of the wrap equates to higher accuracy and higher polycount on the new version. The edges are the problem i think. The model is not closed somehow. when the image is flat the TOP AND BOTTOM is red, suggesting seriously weird business i've never seen before. BUT....it does print ok as you've seen. Even though one came out way thicker than the other? Could have been me messing around though? Its not like im going to be making loads of these though, but the blue ones do havecan eerie look to them.
