  1. I wish i could draw like a cartoonist!
  2. Very nice work Kman. And you said you were only a cartoonist! ?
  3. Well for those interested theres not much difference in detail in dousing the object in acetone other than you get more spots for longer than a quick brush. But thats about it, i guess i must not have covered the bottom of this other one above all that well. The issue with over brushing is that after you have brushed off the additives in the PLA PHA then there is less smoothing material left behind because you have essentially washed it off/out. If you over acetone it could split due to drying out. But I must say since using the s5 I have not had one model split on me regardless of how much acetone I used. It must be the fact that on my UM2 I was printing so low that some layers had simply not bonded as well as I had thought.....Oh well some nicer photos, had to be done. The one on the left has been brushed on for a whole minute as i didn't have enough acetone to dunk it! and the one on the right is just a quick wax on and job done. I finally need to buy some more...Id say 1 litres of acetone lasts me about a year. Thats good value!
  4. I thought about it, but not that much is lost, and considering i model everything by hand (no fancy edge loops or hard edges, altering and trying to get a perfect amount of depth in a groove or over raising areas which will melt down seems an impossible task. also i print at random sizes and vaying the size would alter the detail level. Im going to soak the next skull in for my usual 35seconds just to see whats lost and do a comparison. This one has practically no loss of detail and even the layer lines on the bottom are visible.
  5. Bye bye soft and hello shiny lol! However the soft coating felt really nice like silk or satin or something, very smooth to the touch! I have 2 more skulls to play with, The shinyness really brings out the subtle imperfections! This is because im not dipping and only light brushing trying to maintain maximum detail. A long dip would sort out most layer lines but at the cost of sharp corners and subtle cavitities.gonna try a blue patina one next. They always look sexy but decay real fast if not sealed right!!! I may have to do a terminator skull next...
  6. Finally the secret is revealed! Looks nice! I like busy designs and stuff like this. I had some good tuts for 3ds max about a dude who made loads of these things on table legs and such. Reminds me of Russia.
  7. This was a new version of plating i was trying out. Not so happy as it took much longer to polish up and i had to use a dremmel as i got bored of hand polishing. Thick coat but coarse. I shouldnt get carried away with the voltage....
  8. Heres modesty from my new solution...hmm interesting texture. Again smashed the current on this and a few areas didnt get done. It layed about for too long me thinks. And i know i went too cheap on the coating hence the missed spots!! This face looks to wrong to me now....soon we shall see what your 'cover' covers. All will be uncovered!
  9. I will vary the amount of evil in them! Lol.
  10. My first skulls! Had fun trying to make my perfect version, didnt realise how much our skulls vary. Gonna experiment surface tests on them
  11. Is it a sword handle? I just looked at it and thought...sword? Hmm duuno why. I just made a skull inspired by your demon skull on that desk...
  12. Ive been having a few boo boos as well. But from rushing. Luckily the s5 can resume after running out of filament!
  13. Looks like its not a full semi sphere so its not half of a bauble? hmmm.
  14. Keep on keepin on! look forward to seeing more of your weird things!! liking the skeleton stool a lot as well. Are you doing post work to these, they look real nice!?
  15. Amazing work @kmanstudios, you truly are an inspiration. I was waiting to see something from you for a while. you were too quiet lately I knew something good was coming! I absolutely love those baubles as a fan of details which they seem to have in abundance! very very, nice indeed! and that scene you are making is shaping up real nice.
  16. I spend a long time thinking about doing things and usually never do them. Procrastinating is my worst enemy. My printer has been idle for a few days now. I am going to do a real nice print soon.....a few in fact. Hope you like them! A day for that size is real nice, Im getting larger and larger also , I want to make a max vertical size soon!
  17. Well at least its good to know we have sense of humors!! Lol i know many that dont..... And heres the lip i was on about. My front cover never opens btw. That must be a pva related thing i assume.
  18. I totally agree that patience and not being in a rush are key in this game. It can lead to perfect prints or total failure. When you go into autopilot it can be good or bad depending on if your autopilot has forgotten to do something!! Lol. How about coating the pva in a film of oil to prevent exposure? I dunno i'll think of something to try and get over natures problems my way. Im going to try pva at 0.06 after my night shifts...but I always think about how im going to clean up my prints before I even start them. It tends to make me think of the best ways to print them. Im going to do a little write up soon about a technique thats lets you print thin detailed parts on tiny things without using pva, but it also has its limitations. For some things I can see im just going to need to use PVA.
  19. I think so, last time i checked, but it wasn't as easy as I expected to get it in.....it might not even be in correctly! lol. at least its not falling off. I think there is a little lip on the bit to push in the gap in the middle...could be wrong though, I'm not in front of it at the mo, I'm at work. just something to think about, and check for yourself, I'm not entirely sure about this, but think im right?
  20. Damit, stop frightening me!....how come you don't seem to have any problems? or do you, how many jams do you get? just looking at some baubles to print ?
  21. I'm with you there, as I come from UM2 single filament town, and finally I found a perfect model to try PVA on the S5!!! Im gonna try my best to de-humidify my PVA, which has been open for AAAAAAAGES! I've put it in a bag with loads of those silicone sachets and kept it out of the light and any form of damp/humidity. Ill leave it on a hot bed for an hour or so as well just to be sure, this summer was a real stinker heat wise, great for plating but not so great for PVA! And the nozzle cover is quite tricky to clip in place, I had to use a thin bit of metal to force it in.
  22. Hi Folks, I was just wandering if anyone has sketchfab pro and could possibly convert this model for me to either dwg or OBJ? I would be very grateful! Thanks CF Synthesizers_com Studio-110.skp.zip
