  1. This is not possible in Cura as in S3D. You cannot specify the layer to switch on/off the fans.

But, there is an experimental setting in Cura "Bridge Settings" where you can define a lot of settings for bridging and also the fan speed. So you could switch off fans completely and set it higher for bridging.

  2. I played a lot with CPE settings because I got similar results like yours with round objects and haven't found a solution yet. Turn off Combing helps a little bit. Here is a thread with my results if you are interested:

I have these holes more on circular objects. When I print square ones, the surface quality is quite good. I also have the feeling, that moisture is also a factor for PETG. Results are better if the filament is dry and has not absorbed too much moisture.

But I generally try to avoid PETG and use it only if I need more temperature resistance. All other technical parts I print with Tough PLA, much stronger and great surface quality, but it has the same glass temperature as PLA.

For those of us who bounce from one to another, it would be nice to have it be the same.

Is your prime blob disabled per default too? It is curious that P3D has it enabled per default on his S5, so it seems it differs from printer to printer or Cura installation to Cura installation. Very strange 🙂

Or P3D has a saved custom profile with this setting?

  4. As far as I know it is not possible to change infill with this plugin, but you can use another function in Cura.

You need a second object, a cube for example and then you define this cube which overlaps your model at the parts you want to change the infill and set the needed parameters. This cube is just to change the settings and will not be printed. Like the support blocker, but can be any model you like/need.

  5. When you use a 0.8 core, Cura changes some more settings than just the line width and therefore you will save material. I cannot say why or which setting it is exactly but maybe the support structure is different.

With an 0.8 print core you can save a lot of time. I have only the AA core but I use it a lot because it is faster than the 0.4. I often print with 0.3 layer height and get still decent surface qualities.

  6. You could compare if the "Initial Layer Height" setting is the same for Cura 3.5 vs. 3.6 with the same default profile. I mean I read something that the initial layer height has changed in a recent version. And if it is lower than before then the first layer is squished more into the bed and the resulting line width is wider. Not sure if this could be the root cause, just an idea,

  7. Hallo

If if anyone knows how I can go about implementing this in the code please let me know. Do I download it on git hub and make the change and push it back for possible inclusion. I haven’t looked at the source for cura before.

As far as I know, it is not a function of Cura, the firmware itself is doing the prime blob. In Cura/Gcode you just say if you want a prime blob or not, but not how.

Interesting, on our S5 the blob is enabled by default...

Checked it again, on the S5 the prime blob is disabled for me in the default profiles. On the UM3 the prime blob is enabled per default.

By the way; are you running the latest firmware; if not I encourage you to update it.

As far as I know, there was a bug which was fixed with the latest firmware. Not all S5 printers had this issue but I read about problems with a non-functional slider.

  10. Try to turn off jerk and acceleration control, this should help with the corners. The downside of turning off is, that you could get some ringing on the side after the corner (direction change) due to higher vibrations, but test it.

And keep the speed at 30mm/sec for these tests.
