    Hey guys,

    I'm interested in using the tinker firmware on my UM2 with an 35w Heater.

    Is it recommended to use the stable version (V17.10.1)? or is V19.03.1 proven stable? Sinds it hasn't been changed sins Mar 10, 2019?

    My other question is, it this project still being maintained?

    Hope to hear from one of you soon

    As far as I know the project is not maintained anymore.

    I use the latest version v19. Sometimes in the middle of the print it stops the print, remove the filament, put it back again and then resume.
    I use a 40w heater cartridge.

    Then again, neither is the Ultimaker 2 (or 2+) firnware, so there is little to "maintain".

    So i  have been using the V19 for a bit now. until today I haven't had any problems. but today I came back home and my printer was slamming the X axis repeatedly in to the wall of the pinter :S btw this was the first print over 3 hours sins using this firmware.

    The printer almost vibrated it self of the desk and probably caused some damage.

    Do you guys think this won't happen with the stable (v17) version?

    I hoping V19 is still going to get a stable version. because I really like the extra options and menus.

    It inverted de X or Y axis by itself. It happened to me sometimes...

    Is that because of the Tinker firmware? Or is this something that happens to normal firmware aswel?

    I upgraded my UM2+ with an Ultitop (enclosure) but the bowden tube is hitting the top plate when it's in the left upper corner 😞

    To 'fix' this problem i want to shorten the bowden tube by 50mm, but i still want to be able to use the 'standard' load/unload procedure (change filament).

    I changed this line in the Configuration.h file

    #define FILAMENT_BOWDEN_LENGTH 705 -> #define FILAMENT_BOWDEN_LENGTH 655

    And clicked the 'export compiled binary' in the Arduino IDE

    It generated 2 hex files: 'Marlin.ino.mega.hex' and 'Marlin.ino.with_bootloader.mega.hex'

    Which one should i upload to my UM2Plus using Cura?

    Another question:

    In the  Configuration.h i see several '#ifdef UM2PLUS'

    Where do i define this? I wish to compile a hex for my UM2+

    Best regards,

    Ray

    The "Marlin.ini.mega.hex". A bootloader is what lets you update the firmware via the usb connection in the first place, so it is already on the controller. You only need the version with the bootloader if your controller is fully bare, or the bootloader is broken. But you would need a different connection to the controller board than the usb cable to flash it.

    Somewhere near the top of the Configuration.h will do.

    #define UM2PLUS
