Disable Perspective View in Cura

Hello,

I was hoping there was a way disable perspective viewing mode and have it be orthographic. This is very useful when trying to fit multiple large prints onto the bed. Provides a much clearer picture of the relative location of the parts.

For mechanical design, perspective views are rarely turned on in CAD software.  It is generally seen as a detriment for the kind of reason @pa9k mentioned.

What would be nice are a set of hot keys that center and zoom the model/build area from each of the orthographic viewpoints.

They added (I first noticed them) buttons to jump to top, left, front, etc. views in 3.1 and they are helpful, but would be so much more useful if perspective could be toggled off.

How is the panning and zooming sensitivity in 3.1? I have a difficult time with the mouse inputs being hyper sensitive in 3.0.

I think about the same as 3.0. I didn't notice any obvious differences.

In my professional engineering life we have never used perspective except for maybe some renderings.

 

It makes sense otherwise when looking from the front or side when trying to fit a part in the envelope of the printer.

This has been requested several times already. In short: changing the camera types is pretty hard to do (how translate/scale/rotate/zoom works would have to be completely re-implemented). This means that it'll probably not happen anytime soon.

Now we have Cura 4 but still there is only this useless central perspective.
I've been working with 3D CAD and other 3D programs for 20 years-no one seriously uses the central perspective to work here. Here, we almost always work with parallel perspective.
And then there are slicer programs, and almost everyone uses central perspective. What's that all about? Do the programmers want to show what they can do?
For meaningful work, I would like to see the good old parallel perspective in Cura as well, at least optionally. That would be great...
