Posted · Ultimaker 2 material feed/reverse incorrect after firmware upgrade

Hello,

We upgraded the firmware on our Ultimaker 2 to the latest version as provided via Cura. Since doing this the material feed/reverse functions on the machine is doing the opposite of what they should be.

Basically, when the machine tries to feed material, the material is actually reversed and likewise when the machine tries to reverse material, the material is fed forwards.

Looking online, it looks like the issue maybe that the incorrect firmware has been applied - firmware for the UM2+ instead of the UM2 firmware.

I would like to know what is the earliest version of Cura that supports the UM2.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks!

All version of cura should have both UM2 and UM2+ firmware. You can manually select the one you want to install by selecting install custom firmware. In the (cura version)/resources/firmware folder you can find UM2 and UM2+ firmware

But you should have a look at Tinkerware. Its a great addition to your UM2 and you can even change the direction of the feeder in the menu. you can find it Here

Did you read the post just above yours?  this problem is very common - most likely you installed the wrong firmware (UM2 for a UM2+ or the other way around or you modified your feeder for example by installing a bondtech feeder).
