Must have Ultimaker mods for nubs?

Get wider blue tape. And this:

That's it. Don't get a heated bed. Don't print feet. Don't change the fan shroud (especially that!) as you are likely to make it worse. Do fix the electronics fan if it is noisy.

I saw a fan shroud mod that looked very similar to the UIti2 fan shroud, so I was considering trying that.

Are printed feet bad or just not helpful?

I printed feet for mine (and then added rubber bumpers to those), and found that it made the printer a lot more stable and a lot quieter.

Take a look at http://www.thingiverse.com/illuminarti/collections/ultimaker-upgrades of UM upgrades. In addition to the extruder clip that George recommended above, I also found the short-belt tensioner, wave belt tensioners, and parametric end caps to be very useful. And the quiet extruder housing works pretty well for me too.

I've never seen the point in printing feet in solid plastic unless you want to raise the machine up for some reason. To cut down on vibrations going into the table and potentially amplifying the noise from the printer I simply put some rubber under it.

I think adding a second fan is more beneficial than a new fan shroud. I wouldn't worry about that in the very beginning of your journey though.

There's a lot of really old stuff on Thingiverse for the Ultimaker that made me wonder what's relevant and what isn't (or perhaps outdated ?)
