Am I having problems with my model or my settings

Hey Everyone thanks for taking the time to read this. 

I have created a model using fusion and when imported into cura its too large I scale this down to 10% to print out (fit on build plate) however I get a few error messages. 

 

I have also attached the model (i think this may be the issue and a screen shot.) Can anyone help?

Seems, you don't model up the smallest part for printing 🙂 :

Your dimensions are 1,24m x 96,06cm x 3,85m = 1240mm x 960,6mm x 3850 mm.

 

Guess, your model is based on imperial units. Cura's world is in metric units and not imperial units.

 

There are 3 ways to solve your problem:

a) You can switch your base unit in Fusion to get an STL export in mm (best solution).

b) You can add the plugin "Barbarian Units" from Marketplace for doing the conversion.

c) You can scale it. (what Cura have already done to fit to your plate).

 

In addition, the origin of your model seems to be wrong too. It is outside the model.

Where is the middle finger?  Are you being nice to keep from offending our tender sensibilities?  Or is it up there floating in the air someplace and causing the part origin (which is the center-of-geometry) to show up WAY off.  I think that's why it won't slice, it's still way too tall.  At 5% it will slice, but it shows as being almost 200mm tall.

 

(PS I made one of these in high school and used it as the shifter handle in my car.  When I took my mother for a ride she would always bring a glove to put over it.)

There is a strange artifact in the model file that seems to be having an effect on the slicing.

I can't get rid of it.  It moves up and down the Z on it's own.  It can't be selected.  Sometimes it disappears, but re-selecting the model it shows up again.  You need to go back into Fusion and fix this.

As @GregValiant noted, there were parts of the model floating about. That created the shadow profile. You can see the parts here:

 

But there are a couple of other parts to this that make this a not so good model. First off, it has multiple parts to this instead of being one cohesive mesh. This is the first piece I found that was separate from the main mesh:

 

When I deleted that, I still found another piece just floating over the main model:

 

Once that final piece was deleted, the model was a single mesh and watertight. I do not know Fusion, but this is a list of the problems the final model had. And, yeah, it was a huge scale.

I had imported that file in Fusion. I make a lot with Fusion and the errors this file have are quite unusual for an Fusion export. This looks like an imported and modified Mesh. Some of the manipulations did not went well.
