  1. One that caught my eye, but I haven't tried out yet, is the Polymaker filaments, such as the new PolySmooth ones. It works with their "Polysher" that uses Nebulized Aerosol Polishing (Isopropanol) to smooth out the surface. It doesn't seem to be available yet but I have seen videos (3D Printing Nerd) of it in action. (http://www.polymaker.com/shop/polysmoothpolysher/)
  2. No problem. You do make a valid point with the zooming. It would be a shame if it gets lost in this thread. Posting requests like this on github has a larger chance of being noticed (and remembered!) by devs. http://github.com/ultimaker/cura/issues I second the zooming suggestion. I wind up doing a lot of moving around to see what I want to see the first time! SolidWorks and others have that same zoom where the mouse is feature. Thanks!
  3. I like the open Beta better...I'm sure Asana is easy for the developers to work in, a bit awkward for me!
  4. Always eject. All the gcode is intact viewing in Notepad ++ Note it's not just me having this problem
  5. Printing from SD Card, using Cura 2.4 (Windows)
  6. 1) Latest version of Cura but it has done this with many previous versions. 2) Latest firmware (since Ultimaker 2+ upgrade installed) 3) I'm not sure how much is being retracted, I do not see the "tip" of the filament in the bowden tube, so it's staying within the print head. Move material doesn't tell me how much distance I am moving it to prime the print head again, but it takes 30 seconds of "moving" 4) If I power off the printer and on again, then load a print, it seems to lessen this issue.
  7. You really should... I don't think UM will put resources on improving something that the community has already 'level up' a lot (I mean @tinkergnome ofc) I think this is a really terrible answer....don't ask, because Ultimaker won't fix it? So I should use someone else's firmware? I don't think that's acceptable.
  8. I don't know if this is a firmware or Cura thing, but one of the biggest annoyances I keep facing is how much material gets retracted at the end of the print. It seems like when I power on my Ultimaker 2+ and load a print, enough material is extruded to start the print. Once that print is complete and I load the next print, no material will extrude (or not enough) to ruin the attempt. (Even with 3 skirt lines!) As a process, I have had to go into the Menu and Move Material and manually prime the extruder for that second, third, etc print. That's become a bit of a hassle over time. Is there a plan to fix this, either in Cura or firmware? Please?
  9. Fabrc8 are good people! Glad you are back up and running!
  10. Okay, this one has me stumped On my Ultimaker 2+ running the latest firmware (installed once 2+ Extruder upgrade installed) I'm printing with nGen which uses low fan, in my prints, fan is set to 15%. I observe the first layer go on, expect to see fans turn on on the second...nothing. I look at the settings on the Ultimaker 2+ console and see the Fan % is at 1% I manually set the fans to 15% and off they go But I've had to do this for a couple prints now. One, even set to 15%, the fans didn't move until I physically spun the fans with my finger. What's going on?
  11. In addition to that, what printer are you using?
  12. Somehow, I knew he'd find a way to blame Trump for this (Sorry...this humorous pause brought to you by me)
  13. That's a great point. Avoid the temptation of cheap filament (Luke, avoid the Dark Side!) I'm a bit of a snob with filaments and have really only used ColorFabb and Ultimaker brand at this point. It costs a little more but when you are spending so many hours on long, detailed prints, why have it fail because of lousy filament? It's just not worth the hassle.
  14. PrintedSolid is great, he's a small shop and I like to support a small business anytime I can.
  15. You, sir, are a coward. You rant and rave here, link us to your additional ranting and raving blog...and delete Nallath's well-crafted reply/comment on it. You like to make a lot of noise but can't stomach a response. Grow up.
  16. So will this lead to all the other 3D printer manufacturers creating "defensive" patents? Because this industry has exploded in growth and development due to expired patents. It seems a little ominous to see the patents beginning to reappear.
  17. Vincent, you must go to the same fitness center as Arnold Schwarzenegger...I've never seen a broken nozzle! I just did the entire hot end replacement on my non-plus UMO. It wasn't a terrible process, just awkward. I had to cut the heater wires and trim them back some more, so the wires would fit into the crimp blocks on the main board. You'll want to remove the wooden top part to make running the wires a lot easier (I tried with it still on...not fun!) @amedee , looking at the assembly instructions (page 45), the brass pipe shown is not threaded. Mine was and I suspect Vincent's is too. Given what we know now, what gap would you suggest between the nozzle and block? Then the brass pipe just goes in a little further. (I might make this adjustment too) I also found getting the aluminum and wood piece to be parallel tough. Maybe this is because of years of use? Despite carefully threading in the long rods, looking at the print head from the side, the side without the nozzle goes up very, very slightly.
  18. When I think of warranty issues, I think of problems with the assembly of the printer or the electronics failing. We've seen some of those problems with the early batches of Ultimaker 3's. But would Ultimaker decline their warranty if they had been printing with ColorFabb instead of Ultimaker brand filament? I just want to make sure I understand that there's a clear difference between problems a filament can cause versus issues elsewhere in the printer system (assembly, electronics, motor failures, etc.)
  19. I just replaced the hot end on my UMO and upon reviewing the instructions, it states to install the nozzle first, making it flush with the heater block (version 1.2 , see page 47) Upon reviewing the UMO+ manual, it looks like it sits flush too?
  20. I know these are popular with the Folgertech FT-5 and numerous other printers for autoleveling Has anyone hacked/modified their UM2/UM2+ to use one?
  21. Yeah I noticed the same thing, if you have to log in again (as I almost always have to from my iPhone) There's a lot of very long pauses and a painful experience.
