  1. had this issue also yesterday but thought it was my fault as I´m struggling around with .json files to get my dual print setup done....

b.t.w.: @foehnsturm, how have you managed to get the dual setup done? I´m struggling around with it since yesterday morning without a positive result... Could you maybe post how you did it?

  2.

So custom firmware upgrade is definitely buried now?

For this version, yes. Permanently? No. To be honest, I kinda forgot about that feature. If people really want / need this feature, I'll make sure it gets added back into 2.x

I assume especially on UMO users it is relevant!

Honestly, I get the impression that the support for UMO users is gradually decreasing.... :-(

Not everybody has the budget to switch over to UMO+ or UM2 so PLEASE keep this in mind screwing on CURA...

  3. You could hack it together by adding the setting "machine_extruder_count": { "default": 2 }"  to the .json

Then use per object settings to set second to be printed with extruder 1 and then merge those objects.

Sure, I could, but as it is in life, I´m a pro in many things but not SW design/programming/hacking :-)

I guess the extruder is not the only thing to modify - the head dimensions and extruder offset also have to be considered...

Currently the missing dual extrusion support is the main reason I´m staying on 15.04.

  4. :-) Great!!!

Time goes by but finally it was worth it.

Nevertheless, one thing makes me sad... [..] Ultimaker Original (no dual extrusion support) [...]

I hope that somebody will take care of it as UM sell dual extrusion upgrades or even provides a (detailed) tutorial (also for non-SW guys) how to get it configured in the .json files....

  5.

Guys, I found the latest Beta (2.1.99) out there but @nallath, is there a dual extruder support implemented? I can´t find the settings...

Maybe someone could give me a hint...

    Yeah, it's just a tad bit hacky to get it to work. So here goes;

You need to have a printer that has more than one extruder (json file).

Then there is a setting that tells the engine which nozzle to use for an object. Then use per-object profile to set the nozzle it needs to use to print it with to something non default.

After that, merge the objects and you should be good to go.

@nallath, thank you for the hint - nevertheless, as we in Austria say - I understand just train station :-)

Maybe you could guide me a bit..

  6. @ataraxis, currently on he way soldering the stuff - hold on a minute :-)

    edit:

seems to work on my UMO but the question is how to check if it´s really working as my FW has just a "move Extruder" without selection... :-(

Think I have to find somebody assisting me in implementing a Heat T1 and Move T1... :-)

    edit:

no chance to check the extruder movement without printing something. Will take a little....

  7. @ataraxis, (thank you, works :-) )

ok, I made the measurement and created two videos - one of the movement, one of the value reading.

it seems that unpowered (pluf in but not ON) the value is 0.022V (I guess that´s the cap),

when powering the UMO, the reading goes up to 4.96V.

Unfortunately I have no idea how to post them so I´ll send you a PM with a direct link to my share.

  8. Hi ataraxis!

    Thank you for reply!

@1) is it always the same movement?

=> yes, it´s always the same movement/mount. Looks like in your video

@2) Please try the following: Switch the drivers from E0 and E1, is it still E1 that moves at startup?

=> switched the drivers, it´s still E1 which is moving. So it seems not driver-related.

I crosschecked also my changes in the FW. I only changed "true" vs. "false" in the related lines for X, Y, E0, E1.

    Any idea?

  9. So, finally installed he SSS Drivers.

The heatsink I got were also to high so I simply cut them to 6mm hight so it fit´s perfectly.

Regarding VRef, I put it to 1.0V and will take a look.

Might be a good idea to share just the VRef you applied to compare

    Maybe some kind of table?

    Anyone interested?

I started just summarizing the values found in thei thread:

    Ataraxis: 0.8V and up

Tommy: around 0.9V @ RUMBA board

tsp42: to get 1,2V I had to adjust the sense resistor to 8,6 kOhm resistance between VRef and Gnd

    Starscream83: ???

    yoveo: 0.85V

mariuszem: Vref set to 1,25 V

    Drayson: 1.0 V

  10. @mariuszem: if you change it for the z axis too, you have to touch the firmware anyway - or use the ulticontroller. But a new firmware is never a bad idea I guess. It's good to understand MARLIN at least a bit... :D

that´s true... there are so much interesting settings and possibilities for extention...

So I´ll invert my settings also for E to get my UMO sshhhhh... :-)

    Guys, thank you for clarification...!!!

  11. sorry for maybe asking stupid questions but I had tooo less sleep the last nights... :-(

    @Atraxis, when you write

    ...

6.2) Toggle "invert axis" everywhere you install the new drivers.

    ...

you also mean at the feeders?

I´m asking because in Marlin (not the builder!) there is the following note:

#define INVERT_E0_DIR false // for direct drive extruder v9 set to true, for geared extruder set to false

#define INVERT_E1_DIR false // for direct drive extruder v9 set to true, for geared extruder set to false

So changes at X, Y are clear (= invert) but what to do at E? Also invert?

Maybe it´s already written and I have overseen it, nevertheless any hint appreciated...

  12. 1  A random infill option.. Like in 2012 versions....  To get a infill not visible in the outer shell and to use with transparent materials.

2 The possibility to extract profiles from earlier prints. A LOT easier than keeping track of saved profiles.

3 For the dual extruders, the use of different nozzle diameters and flowsettings .

I heavily support all 3 of them - but especially for the 3rd one... :-)

Hopefully somebody at UM (nallath??) could give us a hint if something like those ar on the short/long/backlog/whatever-list..??
