  1. Hi, since some days I get an additional "blob" of material at the end of the print - see photos. So the print head is not immediately retracted at the end and some material is pressed out of the nozzle befor placing the print head at positon zero. No clue where it comes from and how to cure .... It can bee seen on the blueish photo on the right, on the two others on the left. Object size 8x3 mm without brim. Nd
  2. Hi, I need to know, where the connector for the "Hot End Fan" on the Ultimaker 2 mainboard is located. In the manuals (Assembly Manual V1.1, Extrusion Upgrade Manual) there is a connector in the middle of the board, below the characters "ti" of the printed word "Ultimaker". But on my board there is none. There is a connector on the side which says "Fan 12-24V" - but I have read somewhere in the forum, that the fan is only 5V and thats the voltage I used to test it and it was running as it seemed with full speed. So where to connect the "Hot End Fan" cable ?
  3. Hi, well, the fan is ok. I removed the cables from the connector at the main board and tried with external power - the fan moves. I suspect, that I made a mistake when reattaching the hot end cable during the upgrade from UM2 to UM2+. The problem is: where to attach the cable correctly on the board? The mainboards I can see in the upgrade manual as well as in the general assembly manual V1.1 are different from mine. There is no connector in the middle of my board - the one below the "ti" from the printed word "Ultimaker" on the board. There is only the one above the "e". And the naming of the other connectors do not show any "Hot End Fan" ...... well, will check with support about the schematics....
  4. Ah, ok, thank you. So I suppose if it is not moving at any time, something is wrong - either fan or power from board. Well, so I will disassemble the printer and see what the root cause is..... By the way, I got aware of it when I tried now since several months to get rid of the failure of prints. When printing the base level (first slice) on larger prints (estimated > 5x5 cm) it already begins to be faded. First part ok, then, when it fills the first level the extrusion begins suddenly to slow down, then no extrusion. It looks like the heat is "crawling up", softening the filament in the part above the white insulator and in the first part of the bowden tube. Then the filament is creeping/being pressed into the small gap between bowden and insulator and no longer pushed through the nozzle. Then it obviously hardens and "grinding begins". I have played with several combinations of temparature, speed and material flow, nothing helped. But when the fan is not cooling the upper part, its is obvious why it happened.
  5. Hi, tried to find some information about the hot end fan - but could not find if it should run - always - only together with the two fans on the print head side - sometimes - depending on - ??? The settings in Cura obviously only apply to the two print fans, so how about the "hot end fan"? Regards
  6. Would be glad to do so - the Cura.log one I suppose. Have created one with only the following action: Start cura 2.7.0 Selected Ultimaker 2+ Add printer Opened "settings" - "configure cura" - "materials" - crash.... 7. Sorry, forget the second part - how to reset Cura - I have overlooked it in the FAQ. But it still crashes. Now I even can not configure Cura after deleting the configuration folders.... Switching back to Cura 6.2.1 - no problem, everything works fine under Linux
  8. Hi, I added some "custom materials" to Cura (colorFabb Corkfill, HT, ngen_FLEX) in the Linux AppImage version 2.7.0. This worked. Now when I start Cura and want to change the material - no matter if via the main page or the menu on top Cura closes immediatley (crashes?). I already downloaded again the latest version, but since Cura obviously keeps the settings etc from one installation to the other it is still the same effect. I created an export file from the windows version, but since Cura immediately closes now when clicking on "materials" I can not import this either. So why is Cura crashing/closing when clicking on "materials" under Linux version? No problem with Win version on the same PC. How can I cleanly set up Cura anew? - well its kind a of an image under Linux but obviously somewhere some variables are stored which are not "reset" when using a new clean AppImage. How can I remove them? Kind regards Ndimensional
  9. So just to be complete: I created clean systems for each version of Linux Mint 18.1 and installed only cura. Results: Cinnamon - success Mate - success Xfce - success KDE - fail I think this proves that the problem is KDE related. So we will see if it will/can be solved by the KDE experts in the Linux Mint forums.... (forums.linuxmint.com - desktops - KDE - Link: "https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=242763"
  10. Well, at least ntohing we can do here in this forum. Will check in the according Mint forums if the python problem in Mint KDE may be solved. Thank all of you for your help with this!
  11. Well, seems that my system is not broken, but the problem is the "Linux Mint 18.1 KDE Edition" in general - or you take the KDE edition as broken 8^( Checked the "hit 18" relating to kubuntu-ppa/backports. So I was wondering about the referral to "kubuntu", then it became clear to me: I am using the "Linux Mint 18.1 KDE Edition"version: ----------------------------------- KDE-Plasma-Version:5.8.5 KDE-Frameworks-Version:5.28.0 Qt-Version:5.6.1 Kernel-Version:4.4.0-64-generic 64Bit OS ------------------------------------ and it has this from the beginning. Looking via Synaptic at the installed files for "kubuntu-ppa-backports" there are some KDE modules/parts with a referral to different QT modules.... Also this is as the single additional PPA source in a clean MINT-KDE installation without any additional software installed. I tried now to install cura on a newly installed, clean system- only KDE. And see, same error. Then I tried the same for a Cinnamon edition - and NO error. So it is the basic Linux Mint KDE Edition which produces the problem....

Only due to consistency I would prefer to use the PPA, but not solving the problem would now not be a show stopper ....... so I would fully understand and agree if we stop here .....

  18. Hi, when trying to install Cura 2.4 PPA to Linux Mint 18.1 I get the error message from the "apt install cura" command: "... could not be installed... The following packages have unresolved dependencies: cura : depends on: python3-uranium but should not be installed" Well, the following python packages ARE installed: Python 2.7.12 AND Python 3.5.2 The standard/ default python is the 2.7.12 ... all versions checked by commands "Python3 -V" "Python2 -V" and "Phyton -V" So how can I make cura using the installed Python 3? Or is there another thing I am missing? I dont want to replace the default Python2 by Python3 since there may be dependencies in the whole rest of the programs and system to Python2..... Anyone any idea?
  21. Some other recommendation - don´t know if I have better opened a new thead, feel free to move to a better place: Additionally to "Reset to Factory Defaults" with all the bed levelling and loading of the new filament (which is a bad idea unless you have remembered to remove the old one before resetting ....) a new "Advanced maintenance" function "Reset parameters to factory default" without all the mechanical stuff would be convenient .....
  22. Ok, Danke !
