  1. Yeah I had a nasty tangle job when some of the ultimaker PLA decided to wind itself off the spool. Not nice! I`m hoping the faberdashery goes on nicely. A sunday afternoon with dinner in the oven and a glass of red on the go... wondering what to print next
  2. Hey Cor3ys Thanks again for the files and the information on Faberdashery filament. Almost done, just the centre hub to print... I gotta figure out which diameter I need, not sure what i`m spooling it on yet. Now I can order more filament! B)
  3. Yeah same here. I even went out and spent £60 on a dremel today after seeing your design haha
  4. Point taken gr5, but I only learnt this morning about the way cura and the speed percentages work... so quit being mr grumpy pants
  5. gr5, thanks a lot. I posted the result of the print in the " print latest part " section. It can certainly be better! I thought about printing it on the side too, I will try that option next time. With the fans, is it always best to start them at 100% and just leave them on it ? That`s what iv`e been doing so far... I will slow it down a lot and drop the temp. Thanks for the advice!
  6. Thanks Woofy. Its about half way through now, time seems to have fluctuated quite a bit. So far its looking pretty decent. Ill post a pic when its done. If it finishes as well as it looks at the moment, I will run the other 2 or 5 arms later Edit: OK its done! Not too shabby, there is just one small section on the r/h side of the arm which looks as like one layer went a bit funny....at this point I panicked a little as the filament shot off the spool and got all tangled, so I spent the last 15 minutes of the print feeding it like a baby. The filament really tangled itself hard like a python wrapping a pig! Next job possibly some clips that attach to the spool to prevent filament from slipping off !!
  7. Woofy, how long did that one arm and one hook take approximately, do you remember ? I just started one arm going, at 65% speed. The display started with 2 hours, which I was happy with lol... but it has risen upto 5 hours now? I`m not very patient obviously! Edit: Still rising. 6 hours now? Edit 2 : 7 Hours Is it meant to be this long and rising :???:
  8. oh yeah, if you were running a bunch of them these robot arms could be great.
  9. I am sure it would be a positive feature, not necessarily for my initial use of testing print speeds... But if you wanted to set a print going that consisted of two or more parts, and you knew from past experience that a part had a better success rate at a certain speed, then you could have the option of printing at varying speeds. Just a thought.. i`ll leave it you the pro`s to think about it I need coffee!
  10. Unfortunately I still need to work for a living :???: lol... for my Job I work in a company which produces high quality hardware for the construction / fenestration industry, mainly producing hardware for Window and Door systems throughout the world. My main role is working within the architectural hardware department designing such things as window and door handles, ergonomic shapes, letter boxes and full length multipoint door locks etc etc.... anyway... This is a baseplate for a window handle that I have recently designed and it is my first real print attempt  As you can see, the base of it was a bit of a disaster and I almost aborted the print after just 15 minutes or so... but I left it to finish off to see what the end result would look like. Gotta learn somehow right? The rest of it turned out not too bad, finish is nice. Printed at 80% speed which I am guessing is too fast ( Wish could print two at once, but at different speeds? ). I don`t fully understand Cura yet and what it requires from me to help it design better structures. Didnt realise how hard some of the structures were to get off. I need to buy some nice sharp craft knives and a dremel
  11. Pretty cool..but. Why would you need something to automatically remove a print? Unless in future you can set up print ques so that I can print lots of stuff whilst on holiday
  12. Hello, Apologies if this is a completely ridiculous idea..or indeed if it can actually already be done. As a complete novice, I am finding myself trying to print a part...seeing the results, then printing that same part again but at a different speed, so that I can compare the different results and see which speeds work best. Is there a way, or is it a silly suggestion, to be able to set Cura to print two identical parts at the same time, but one at a different speed to the other? Wayne
  13. Congratulations Telo I have no idea what I am doing either lol. Noobs are going to take over the printing world!
  14. Can anyone access this? Ive not used dropbox before  If so, any advice on how you would print that part? https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v7pxt775gbo77pn/625G6JAHpX
  15. Does Cura set the speed in the Gcode ? My cura speed setting on my model is set at 50mm/s however when I load it into the printer its always 100%. So Cura doesnt set the speed ? The estimated print time. Does this ever seem accurate? So far, my prints take much longer than suggested.
  16. Chrisp, I love that! Looks awesome. I thought about making something very similar... hmmm time to go buy my dremel.
  17. oh but Ian.... you have so many good beers over there
  18. I can only offer my opinion too, in that I have had the ultimaker a few days but I am already learning so much... and this forum has a wealth of information and everybody ( so far ) haha is so willing to help out. Any technical info I have needed so far I have found within these pages. Sniper... really hope your OK and that things turn good !
  19. Thanks for the files mate, I will have a go at these over the weekend. Autodesk always do good stuff, I may have to get tinkercad just to be able to mod .stl files, unless I figure out how to get CREO to do it. Going out for a few too many beers tonight... so I fear Saturday / sunday is going to be a nice quiet printing weekend haha
  20. That`s because your going for the old ladies with their shopping and walking sticks in hand Robert
  21. So Cor3ys, does that software allow you to modify stl models? I`m using Creo ( formerly Pro-e ) and I need to figure out how to mod stls. easier for me to remodel I think. Email from faberdashery...out of stock on black until next Thursday boooo !
  22. Thanks cor I`ll have a looksy at this later. 200m black Fab ordered
  23. I would also like to see a " Complete Noobs guide to printing ".
