  1. Awesome Aaron, so cool that you are printing away !! I cant wait to see a Geeky image of you wearing your printed glasses haha. I really need to set myself a nice big design project, so I can put the UM2 through its paces!
  2. Aaron... Whooo Hooooo Happy Printer days Nice spool woofy... I stopped at 3 arms and so far its working ok. The faberdashery filament is nice, I got some green glowing stuff lol
  3. Yeah I have thought about posting the same suggestion. It would be very helpful if print settings were suggested when uploading models to sites like thingiverse etc... even as a basic guide.
  4. I do the same as Robert, I stick a knife or tweezers into it and pull the excess to one side before the print starts.
  5. Anyone got any jobs I can have to earn a few extra quid... I went to Cheltenham yesterday and returned home considerably poorer than when I went haha
  6. I printed this at the weekend too, used 0.15 layers and it was fine. Had a few technical difficulties during the print but nothing too bad Your cable does look a bit shorter than mine, I used the full 12 segments plus end pieces. I had to enlarged the screw holes on the main connector to get the bed screws in though.
  7. 0235, yeah they look great! Agree on the blue/grey material...nice
  8. Your cable chain broke my printer robert..you owe me a beer Haha ok, it was Cura that did it.
  9. Illuminarti Thanks for highlighting the issue on github. I`l glad it wasn't just down to me being a noob and planning the print badly. As for the squeaking, its still there. Its not a major issue or concern, i`ll figure out how to get rid of it one day. Thanks for the help guys ! Oh Edit: Cura is version 14.01
  10. Another one converted to Roberts cable chain. It looks OK in blue when the lights are shining on it, although other users white ones look cool. Had a few issues when building it though :???:
  11. It printed Front Left to Right as shown in the second image, the "Crash" happened when the head was going back across to the left to print the next clip above on the second line, hitting the centre component as it travelled back across. It has put a little bit of fear into me, as I thought that relying on Cura to "show green" was the right thing to do.
  12. Hey All Am I correct in assuming that if Cura displays all models as GREEN on the display, then all should be OK to print? If one of the models grey`s out then it would fail. This layout was all Green and I thought it was safe to proceed. I started printing Roberts cable chain. However...during the printing of the main attachment and a bunch of the small lids as per that screenshot above, the print head collided with the central component causing and almighty smash and resulted in the steel cage that the fan is mounted on all bent up. Luckily I was in the room at the time and heard/seen this almighty smash bang wollop and managed to abort it pretty quickly. The print head was jammed against that central component and was crashing against it. I managed to bend the fan casing back to something like the opposite one and am hoping it is ok. I have a small squeeking/grinding noise now coming from the " left to right " bar, there is no way this would of bent right?
  13. Heat the bed at 60c mate not 75', and where your print sits just spread a small amount of the glue stick. So far I'm having more trouble getting them off than parts lifting, use brim may help in cura too.
  14. Great post Nico. Glad your much happier with your printer this time !! 1) Packaging of the plate. Completely agree. When I set my printer up I had no idea how to remove the plate and YES I heard that loud noise when I switched the printer on and thought I had broken something. 2) Test print. Agree on this too. I have a blue test print, yet the nozzle had remains of brown or silvery colour inside it. I must get Robert`s chain too, it seems I`m the only one who doesn't have it yet lol
  15. Braddock, that's awesome! Do you perform the investment casting yourself too ?
  16. That's "Fabb"ulous news I need to order some colorfabb, a company I deals with orders from Cutwel in the UK so I will steal some of them to test
  17. Niko, yeah I did just that, but didn't quite find that quick one click away download lol. Thanks CEZ, I have used traceparts before..but I don't think I have used Partcommunity before, I`ll check that out !
  18. Really apologise to state the obvious, but have you checked the threaded bar at the back of the machine for any blockages or obstruction or if the casing is making contact somewhere... It sounds more mechanical than software based issue?
  19. Yes I don't blame you Keith. I just ordered 3 rolls of Faberdashery Black, which prints really nicely. Only minor negative to Faberdashery is that its not spooled, but so far I`m not seeing any issues with it printing from just a coil on the floor ! If your desperate let me know and I can bring you a roll of the black over to Rugby, for 25 quid and a pint lol (I`m working in Cov near the Ricoh!)
  20. Hey Jonny, Yep I agree that standard bolts & nuts are the best way to go. But last night I needed a M16 bolt which I did not have lying around, also I wanted one which was 120mm long. Sometimes maybe we need a size we do not have. Your right about the time, they do take a while!
  21. haha, drayson... funny. you sound like my g/f I was playing around with some design ideas last night and thought it would be great if I had a set of G-codes for Nuts & Bolts, lots of premade printable sizes from M2-M16. So.. I thought I would have a go at modelling one ( I use PTC Creo for 3D modelling ),...and see how hard it is to get a working nut & bolt set. Here is an M16x70 bolt and nut.... it worked quite well, although my clearance's need to be a little larger as it was a little too tight in some places. Does anybody have such a library of parts? Maybe this forum should have a " Request model`s section " ?
  22. hitman, there`s a really nice new way to shop now... once you have the experience you`ll love it... check it out, its called the World Wide Web hahaha
