WelI, my problem is still not solved. :(
Sometimes it's printing a few millimeters (a few layers) and sometimes up to layer 30 or a bit more. (then I got lucky!) Sometimes the printer decides only to print the brim and than says this was enough. The problem for me it's printing a bit, when it would not be extruding at all then it would be much easier to solve imo. And the first few layers are also perfectly printed...
I already increased the temperature up to 235°C and downscaled all my retraction settings. But still my filament is grinded. This was with the UM2 filament feeder and this is also the matter with Robert's feeder which I printed a long time ago but last week assembled.
I'm struggling with this problem for a few weeks now... It's driving me nuts to be honest. My colleagues started laughing with my "failprinter". How dare they, I'm their boss!
As you can see on my last printer stats :
Not much succes for me lately.
I replaced many many parts of my printer. (bowden tube, fans, different teflons just to make sure, the hot end insulator, way too many nozzles, ....) and used different kinds of filament. I'm sure I replaced way too many parts, that's why I kept them all.

@tinkergnome: You're talking about the combination I2K+DupTef, correct? (not about I2K + TFT = TF2K?)
Actually only the "new one" is an I2K + DupTef, the "used one" is I2K + PTFE Coupler (from the Ultimaker shop).
No TF2K yet - but it's a thing to consider... The "DupTef" has disappeared from the 3dSolex shop anyway...
Dang, I just bought and installed the I2K + Duptef combo, is that already replaced by something better?
yup.... TF2K 300C http://3dsolex.com/teflon-replacements
same here btw, I got 5 spare duptefs here

Hey gr5,
My bottomlayer speed is always 30% to 50% of my printspeed (which is between 30mm/s and 50mm/s) and my temperature was 225°C.
So that's an average of 20mm/s on 225°C. Which should be sufficient right?
-
done, keep us posted about the results

230c
30mm/s
.4 nozzle
.2 layer height
Give it a try with the above settings and 210°C instead of 230°C... Could you try this?

Cleared out by @SandervG (thanks!)
De feeder @ Trideus is with the knurled wheel included while @ fbrc8 it's without the wheel. That makes the price difference.
@ultiarjan You probably have special prices because the official price for the knurled wheel is
15€ excl. VAT, so that's 18€ (got this price from Sander also)

what are your print settings?
-
Hmmmmmmm I have to find another reseller for my spare parts....
These are the prices Trideus.be asks for some spare parts.
Prices are ex-VAT. So add 21% to it.
Unacceptable in my opinion. Also not good for the Ultimaker brand.

Hello people!
I looked for it but couldn't seem to find it but is there a price list available for UM2 spare parts?
I'm asking this because I ordered some spare parts from our reseller and I was astonished with some prices.
For example this part (without the instrument even!)
costs 21 euros, while the complete filament feeder (knurled wheel, bearing, spring and all the other parts for the feeder only costs 39 euros.)
To me this piece of metal didn't look at all worth 21 euros...
I made the mistake by ordering a few of them without knowing the price, thank god I was able to send them back.
So a price list for the spare parts would be welcome... Is it available somewhere?
cheers
Frederiek

its all the bridging, these kind of objects are better suited for resin printers like the form1. also all the retractions that are an issue. some people just use a blow torch to lightly melt away the strands. I tend to print more solid stuff though so cant offer too much advice on this.
That's what I thought too, until I stumbled on this article : http://www.extrudable.me/2013/12/17/highqualityultimaker2/
To be clear, I was not able to reproduce these prints. But I tried

ill try replacing the ptfe coupler first. is this covered under warranty?
nope, the PTFE is a consumable which needs to be replaced each XXX print hours. XXX hours because this depends on the materials you are printing etc.

@Labern any updates on the metal version of the fan shroud for our UM2?
-
I missed that blog post That's a good read....bookmarked!
In your settings you can choose to receive notifications when we publish a new blog post. You never have to miss anything again
great tip thnx! when will the next part "printing" be published?
very interesting read was part 1 btw, thanks a lot for that!

Change coast at end to 0.30
Activate wipe nozzle for 0.30
Can you explain what those 2 settings are for?
-
I understand what you're going through. S3D has a very steep learning curve in my opinion. Thank god an experienced user (thanks again @neotko! <3) helped me out with my settings or I still would be struggling how to get things right.
On topic, can you post a screenshot of these 2 parts or retraction in your S3D?
Above settings were approved and are working just fine for me.
Like @neotko said, when you master S3D, you can do almost anything with your print.

@LePaul, your R2D2 looks very cool! I'm officially jealous now, really!

This is a great pose and funny character. Who is the original artist? A few quick pokes and pulls in zbrush, mudbox or sculptris should get you there in a few minutes. time.
Here is a quick version on my laptop with the trackpad. LOL I am sure if you took a bit more time you could get a better one.
For a first draft, this looks amazing
The statue was made by Guido Deleu (from Belgium) and the name of the statue is "The visitor".
Imagine different sizes and colours of this great thing on your desk!

I was wondering if it's hard to design this in a printable version?
I don't know much about designing so I have no clue but the model looks simple with not that much detail to take care of. But it looks so cool right?
Anybody want to give this a try to design for our beloved ultimakers?
-
how's the quality of the V6 E3D nozzles compared to the 3Dsolex ones? anybody compared these 2 nozzles with each other?
-
hey @neotko, I got an UM2 and a well configured S3D (thanks to you!). Which tests exactly do you want me to do?
-
-
Well, thank god you mentioned me in this post otherwise I would miss the contest imo...
First time I visit this "collaborations" forum. I would repost or mention the contest also in the general forum too. (Coffee Corner or Official Ultimaker News?)
Because I think you will miss some participants for your contest for the simple reason many people never visit the collaborations forum.... I don't have access to your analytics but the post before yours on the collaborations forum is 20 days ago.
Don't forget my other prediction: the UM2+

Go bald and grow a beard!
Amen to that one!

Thanks for your time again @gr5
Most of your questions are answered in my post above of you. But some other stuff.
Nozzle : always 0.4 mm nozzles from 3Dsolex or E3D. I want to master the 3D printing more before starting with other sizes... Same goes with filaments, it's only PLA of PLA/PHA I'm using at the moment.
The feeder is Robert's design I'm using for a few days now. I like it a lot cause it saves me a lot of time.
The UM2 is located in my office, I don't think there is a lot of dust there. There are no carpets and stuff. Plus my UM2 has a door installed in front and a cover on top. (to filter the noise, it helps a lot btw).
