I finally finished the upgrade of my UM2 (all 3Dsolex upgrades, thanks DidierKlein for the quick service!). But after my complete installation, I found this small ring on the glass platform. Anybody who has an idea where this ring goes and if it's important to disassemble my UM2 again for this? :s Thanks for the advice!

Yep mostly personal project, we did print a few 3D logo's of our best customers and gave it to them. They were extremely happy with their present. Sevenedge is an office full of gadgets : a collection of drones, VR devices, parrot robots, ... and our UM2! We use most of our gadgets pure for fun. My team loves our UM2, the first thing they do when they arrive at the office in the morning is checking out the print that was finished. And during the weekends we try to print high quality objects because the office is empty for 60 hours when we close the door at friday evening. As for that, it sux we can't get the Octoprint installation at Sevenedge working properly... But I'll keep watching my thread for somebody to help me out. I can't wait to experiment with the special filaments from Colorfabb, but step by step because I'm still learning to get good quality prints with the simple PLA.

We print different kind of object with our UM2 at our office Sevenedge. We use the prints as decoration on the desks of our staff. So no real use tbh... There is even a waiting queue for printing objects right now, as for that we'll probably buy an Ultimaker 2 extended soon. Or there would be rumors of an UM3? :-)

I upped the length to 5 mm and the speed to 35mm/s now... Is that ok?

I did another test... 200°C 40mm/s print speed 250mm/s travel speed And still strings :s This is printed in Ultimaker PLA Bronze.

hey guys, I was wondering, which version of Cura do you use? I've been using the beta versions and currently I'm using 15.04.02 on my Mac. Just to make sure which is the most stable version currently to use?

Still, I was able to clean my model a bit but I'm sure my UM2 can do a lot better :-)

Hello, I spent many hours with my Octoprint installation, I got it working (also on remote with a DDNS) and even the camera is working etc etc. But prints keep failing :( Today I tried again and today's problem was the extrusion, it was like 50% of what my nozzle is normally producing... I also noticed the "glock glock" from my filament feeder which means something was wrong So I stopped the print with Octoprint, and flawlessly printed the object with my SD card and without Octoprint... I think my start.gcode of my Cura for my UM2 is not correct, I've been reading a lot about modifications for this start code but I'm unfortunately not a programmer so it's Chinese for me that code. Anyway, somebody who has some tips to get my Octoprint working? and good quality is 0.1mm for you or do you go any lower with those settings? (205°/35mm) And do you also have your travel speed that high? 250mm/s?

Ow that I didn't knew... I never changed the temperature for my PLA, I always sticked to the 210°/60° default settings... When I use 0.06 and 25mm/s should I go lower than the 195°C you're indicating? Should I save my slicing in reprap or Gcode? Cause when I use Gcode then I have to make the temperature changes on the ultimaker itself and not in Cura?

Hey Didier, I made some small changes to the retraction settings. The default settings are : Minimum travel : 1.5mm Enable Combing : all Minimal extrusion before extracting : 0.02mm Z hop when extracting : 0mm These are my settings : Minimum travel : 1mm Enable combing : all Minimal extrusion : 0,01 Z hop when retracting (mm): 0,0 I made these small changes after reading this article : http://www.extrudable.me/2013/12/17/highqualityultimaker2/ (check his pics, he made some really nice prints...) Any good changes or should I go back to the default settings? I'll change my travel speed to 250mm/s and I already got rid of the blue tape.

Hey LonderJan, I'm a noob too :-) I bought my printer (an Ultimaker 2) 6 weeks ago now. I started as a complete noob, really, I didn't even knew what a gcode or stl file was. I didn't knew there were so many different options to tweak before getting a great print. And last but not least, I wasn't expecting such a steep learning curve with 3D printing in general. I've learned A LOT from these guides : http://support.3dverkstan.se/category/31-guides They are all awesome! You can forget about the nozzle problems when you buy the Olsson block upgrade for your UM2. This is highly recommended cause you can switch nozzles in no time and you can use a stainless steel for the special filaments from Colorfabb (wood, bronze, copper, carbon, ...) http://3dsolex.com/olsson-block I'm a marketeer and I would personally give the Olsson block free with the UM2 so your potential customers can avoid hours of frustrations. well, this is the beta and this is the same model in 15 04 2 and my build time indicator is not really changing when I make changes to my model.... I'm using Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11 on a Macbook pro 2014 edition.

My build time is not updating automatically... Also I don't see the support in the layer view?

but it's printed in PLA and I have a heated bed, do I still need the glue?

UPDATE : another serious try to print the iron throne. A lot better than the first spider's web print though. Still many small threads I had to remove with a pincet afterwards, but I'm getting there. Also, as you can see in the 3rd photo, the plateau did bend at the end of the 45 hours printing, any reasons for this? Any other tips to improve my throne a bit more?

Paul, your friend did save the STL wrong in his 3D program. There is a selection to choose from : millimetres, centimeters & meters. He has to choose millimetres for the export to STL.

you can add a new printer in Cura, that way all settings will be reset
