  1. You are welcome and if nothing else hopefully the pictures and video give you something to compare to. When I first received the S5 I asked questions, many of which simply to garner a baseline understanding of it rather than comparing it to another. It is my opinion that the S5 is a wonderful printer and I feel confident saying that you will too. In closing; Smithy, you were one of the folks that assisted me and for that; I thank you again.
  2. Hi Smithy Here you go I have attached a few pictures showing the top of completed prints, the top of a couple test prints, as well as a video of the last 15-20 seconds of the 2 day print that completed a short time ago. The IMG_3249.zip after the pictures is the video. I had to change the file extension to .zip from .RAR so I could share it with you. Hopefully this answers your question; please let me know if this as you see yours functioning. All the best IMG_3249.zip (This is the video)
  3. No one else has experienced this? Takes care
  4. Since I went back to 3.4.1 I will do a test and let you know; initially my comment is the build plate drops as soon as completed as I see no evidence of a heat spot on prints completed yesterday. I have a print that began yesterday that will complete in 4-5 hours and I will try and catch it at the end.
  5. Thank you I saw the link for the 3 after I posted the reply but would like it confirmed; thank you. The fact that the incidents have been rare is comforting and yet because the cost is low I am inclined to keep a spare on sight. I will await your update and then order. Thank you again.
  6. Like yourself; until it truly saves a print the feature is moderately interesting. It is truly a spectacular feature and it saved me twice during this last multi day print because the PVA filament got tangled and bound during the print. For myself; this feature is a must have for all future printer considerations.
  7. I am finding that as the PVA roll gets down to the last 30% and less that it is prone to tangling itself on the roll. Any suggestions? The PVA condition is fine; it appears that with the act of retractions literally causes it to bind itself up during a long print. I am using a S5 and twice during this multi day print it bound up causing the printer to stop; thank goodness for the filament sensor so I was able to untangle it and simply continue the print. Thank you.
  8. Shirley First of all; I got sidetracked posting within your thread things that had nothing to do with your issue; I apologize. Now to your issue. I have looked over the procedures and am confident that the procedure to correct the issue can be easily tended to. Not knowing where you are located I would be happy to walk you through the process over the phone; eyes from afar. PM me if you would like some help. Take care.
  9. I would like to see the next generation of the 3 series with; 1. S5 style extruders; the simple flip lever and gear sets. 2. Filament sensors 3. S5’s active build plate leveling 4. S5 stepper motors 5. Aluminum build plate With these additions I am a customer for a 3 too. Having shared this; both the 3 and the S5 need a better camera setup. Certainly it is nice to see if the print is progressing however, the present camera location does very little more; no bitch; just a wish.
  10. I just did a search and no part number was presented for the spring. I also searched within; https://fbrc8.com/collections/ultimaker-s5-spare-parts
  11. Murphy’s Law.... never fails. With most of my prints taking days to complete I do all that I can to mitigate risk. After several years of always crossing my fingers tightly when initiating a print I was a bit nervous with the S5 however, it has been roughly 5 weeks and I am finally beginning to relax and trust the printer. I shared in a different thread earlier today that I awoke today to a remote view of the S5 printer having stopped and when I got into the office I found that the PVA spool had gotten bound up and the filament was unable to be pulled. I quickly corrected the issue and hit resume and to my greatest surprise and pleasure, it resumed printing as if it had never stopped and now 11 hours later it is still printing away with target completion in 14 more hours. Prior to the S5 this would have been a failed print and a loss of a day’s printing not to mention the materials. In any case; I too believe in spares and like you, encourage all to maintain at least essentials on hand at all times. Takes care
  12. I agree as such I have what a consider a decent inventory of spares, filaments, Print Cores, Bowden tube sleeves, clips, build plate, hit end fan, etc. and have no issue purchasing addition items; like yourself; when preparing to or in the middle of a project often at the day’s end or at the weekend the last thing I want is to wait for FedEx. If ultimately it turns out to be a warrantable item it can be tended to after the fact but as they say; the show must go on. As soon as the part number for the spring and anything else needed should it cause an issue I will order them. I appreciate your supportive comments. Thank you
  13. Just curiius I assume this setup is the same for the S5. If this is true should we keep a couple springs as spares or is the risk of failure and or issue well below the proverbial radar? What is the part number for the spring and if replaced is there anything else required at the same time? Thank you
  14. You are welcome .... now pass it on to another in need of assistance as I was initially helped too. More than anything, I appreciate you sharing that your issue was resolved. Takes care
  15. I completely understand However, let’s use the issues as associated with the deployment of Ultimaker Cura 3.5. Once the issues are known and accepted by the development team I am sure a plan is created; let this be the basis of the shared list; both the issues to be tended to and the associated release notes as the incremental updates are released so that those affected can remain involved rather than blindly waiting and wondering. With regards to new features, custom tweaks, etc.. let these remain as they are.
  16. Wonderful and thank you again. For what it’s worth. With an open discussion this is great example of the value associated with; 1. A punch list of issues being tended to. 2. Release notes presented as the incremental updates are released. Again, just thoughts and “not” critiques.
  17. Understood Then to clarify my position; when upgrading the profiles should; 1. Remain with the original as they are 2. Port into the new version Thus creating parallel programs. By the way the Ultimaker Cura update popup is still present when loading an earlier version of Cura. Thank you
  18. Thank you for sharing your successful conclusion.
  19. I have experienced similar if not the same a couple time. When I did a Cura Connect reset from the printer control panel the issue was resolved. Early on we also did a network reset however, I believe that the Cura Connecy reset was was cure.
  20. Agreed If referring to any of my comments and or suggestions they are all program and not people related. Takes care
  21. When the S5 was purchased a few weeks ago many things were discussed and considered with the filament sensor always being pushed to the top of the list. To be perfectly candid; I did not see it as a big deal because I always load sufficient filament however; early this morning I remotely viewed in to see the progress of a multi day print and to my surprise I saw no activity but rather the build plate was lowered. Not sure what I’d find when I walked in the office I was anxious because this print needs to be completed tomorrow. I found an exclamation mark on the touch screen and when I tapped it a message that said something along the line of filament empty or ? app sees. I was fairly certain that I knew what the issue was; the spool of PVA filament nearing the last 30% of remaining material. Before starting this print I found it to tangle upon itself easier than when a full roll and sure enough this is what happen; I could not pull the filament as it was bound tight. We had been a watching this the last few prints because the smaller the coils the more pervasive this issue is. In any case; Never having experienced this as typically such an event would have resulted in a failed print I removed the roll of PVA filament and relaxed the winding of the filament “never” removing it from the feeder and then hit resume. After a few minutes of likely the built plate and nozzles warming up the print resumed as if “nothing” ever happened. I am now a firm believer in the filament sensor on the S5 as without it I would have lost 20 plus hours of printing and not be able to complete this print on time. As stated A truly awesome feature of this printer.
  22. Not meaning to create an argument; “suppose to” maybe a better comment as the automatic migrating of profiles between versions into Ultimaker Cura 3.5 has not worked as many have shared these last several days. Furthermore; I suggest taking the idea of running parallel versions a step further and encourage such a practice rather than simply presenting an upgrade path. A thread that introduces folks to to idea of parallel versions and the associated benefits and reduced risk because I am certain that the vast majority of folks would never consider it. It is simply not a typical upgrade practice. Just a thought.
  23. Are you attempting to use the phone application when connected to the same WiFi network that the printer is connected to? I ask because you can’t configure the phone application to connect via a specific URL.
