  1. Bummer..... It is obvious that you are giving it best efforts as such again I say; hopefully someone with greater knowledge with engage this thread as I understand it is frustrating. I wish that I could assist with additional ideas.
  2. As much as I have had many great experiences with the S5; sadly, you are sharing many of the thoughts that I have shared. Particularly after the dismal deployment of Ultimaker Cura 3.5. Like you, I purchase what was solicited as a long term tested commercial printer that was to be pert near plug and play and paid; comparatively speaking; a premium for it however, I too feel as if I am smack dab in the middle of a development curve; this curve being Ultimaker’s. And yet unlike you, I still hold out hope that they will deliver as promised as such I openly expresss my thoughts, share my concerns, implement work arounds as needed, assist others when I can, and throughout; I remain support of the Ultimaker printer because; I think it is a good product supported directly and indirectly by many many folks that care. My last comment included “care” which is pivotal to how I feel today. In my opinion whether an open source environment or not the proverbial buck begins and ends with the core Ultimaker team. You mention how responsibly was shifted as if to say; not/no longer our responsibility and yet it is and soliciting products into and for the commercial arena carries with it responsiblies far beyond those of the hobbiest and enthusiasts. Now this in no way diminishes anyone’s value but rather the associated risk and cost burden is different between the groups. In closing, I too have had my moments of frustration as such truly understand where you are coming from and your ever increasing frustration. For examples; I too was told after the fact that there was no easy way to implement static IP, experience random issues with the printer that akin to a ghost, come and go, firmware issues, Ultimaker Cura 3.5 deplyment issues, and yet I would encourage you to do as I have and take a deep breath and let the process become mechanical rather than emotional because the later will prove to be a fruitless exercise in futility. I will restate; I think that the Ultimaker team want to have the best printer line in the marketplace and because they care I believe they will do it. If I did not I would have boxed the S5 up and shipped it back because at this moment; just like you, it is “not” all that I was promised. Takes care
  3. Good day Erin and thank you. I will include them with my order. Takes care
  4. Gotcha As shared; I recall the earlier thread within which folks shared that Cura was “not” good about this when compared to other slicers. The inference was that changes were being made because, like yourself, it is very troubling. You mentioned printing with nice looking materials and want the finish to be as when printed; this I understand and want too. Particularly as I begin using the CC Print Cores and associated materials. Again, I hope that someone from Ultimaker Cura joins this thread.
  5. Understood; you purposely did this with default settings so as present your concern. Have you since changed the seam alignment settings and if yes; what are the results?
  6. There was a similar albeit different question asked in another thread to which I shared I read an earlier post that discussed being able to alter the layer starting points so as to curtail the ugly vertical line. Here is a excerpt from that thread; “It is a setting within the Shell settings group, called Z Seam alignment” Here is information from Ultimaker Cura https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/52343-shell I hope you find success as I agree; you should not have to do corrective post printing work for a vertical ditch furthermore, anything you do will detract from the finished print.
  7. I read your post and wish I had the steps for you nonetheless, if I understood correctly, then as I understand it; yes you can alter/stagger the starting point of the layers so as an example; on a wall you won’t see effectively a vertical line. There was a thread I read that spoke of; ”It is a setting within the Shell settings group, called Z Seam alignment” Here is a link to Ultimaker Cura’s information. https://ultimaker.com/en/resources/52343-shell Hopefully some one better suited will engage in your thread.
  8. You are welcome In a word; it “sucks” when no one able to replies; truly I remain at a loss for words. Yes; it remains my firm opinion that 3.5 and 3.5.1 should be avoided; been there ... done that .... and it is ...... not good. 3.4.1 has proven to provide consistent dependable printing. Hang in there. Takes care and thank you for the kind words.
  9. Agreed However, if printing a single item; particularly a small item without support then I find printing a small disposable part at the same time such as a small diameter cylinder helps to produce a better print. This allows the layers sufficient time to cool. If printing more more than one piece of a comparable height then a disposable part is not suggested. Now this is simply an example of what works for me which was suggested to me by another.
  10. Most strings can be scrapped off and others a small pair of end cutters, razor blade, and certainly sandpaper or a nail file. I try to stay away from sanding unless my intention is to paint the surface. You should not see much stringing from the PLA. The same is true throughout the print; there will typically be an imperfection here and there and if a concern a little detail work will make you smile.
  11. Last thing first; LOL!!! To bad I can’t just have the Prime Tower advances; oh well. I do recall reading some time ago that tweaks to the Prime Tower can be made in 3.4.1 however, this is no longer the case with the next stable version with a number yet to be defined because it is suppose to be rock solid; I think the ability to tweak should remain but then; what do I know. The Prime Tower failures have all been a separation between the PLA and PVA and in all incidences when the percentage of PVA is very high. Moving forward.... Its all good; I learned my lesson with 3.5; and a big lesson learned it was.
  12. Perfectly understood. The only time that this has ever caused me any mechanical concern is when ....... the Prime Tower falls over at which point the mess can become extreme and even find PVA being integrated into the print. I am looking forward to Ultimaker Cura 3.5...3.6... or whatever it becomes being debugged as I understand that the Prime Tower is more stable. For now; it is Ultimaker Cura 3.4.1. Thank you
  13. I see the same; always along the one vertical edge which is often the ending point for the Print Core extrusion prior to it heading to Prime Tower. If I were to guess; the retraction is simply slow when compared to how quickly the Print Core moves towards the Print Tower and because it is support material it has not been a concern presented by many. Like you; I would like to see it crisper looking and yet I also share that the PVA support has allowed us to do much so I have not thought much about it because within minutes of the print completing it is getting a bath to remove all of it. Enjoy
  14. My thoughts exactly as this happened twice during the last long print and a bound PVA roll was the culprit.
  15. With regards to the second Print Core remaining active post active bed leveling; ugh... I assumed so because during the active bed leveling they both glow red and then afterwards both remain blue and or flashing blue. As such I assumed it remained at a minimum temp effectively ready to extrude.
  16. Gotcha... I check the tips prior to beginning a print but recognize that some folks many not. It still seems to be unnecessary to maintain heat with the second Print Core when not called for in the print. Even the initial Print Core offset checking between the 2 Print Cores when the Active bed leveling begins seems to be unnecessary if only one Print Core is being used. Thank you for your insight.
  17. As shared; a truly wonderful feature and a print saver on a grand-scale. Thank you all.
  18. You are welcome. Initially I followed the menu; meaning hot then cold however, I was not successful until I did “many” hot pulls in a row and the a couple cold pulls. I am confident that you will get it cleared. In my opinion this information should be boldly presented when you receive the printer. Takes care.
  19. Thank you for the suggestion as it will be followed. Any idea why the second Print Core has to be heated; am I missing something? It seems as though Cura could turn a Print Core on and off as the print demands or even manually within the settings menu.
  20. I wish I could help you get the Print Core cleaned. I do recall reading about manually increasing the Print Core temp to a temperature higher than is done when you use the hot and cold pull menu and then inserting the filament, letting it cool, and then doing a hot and or cold pull. Do a Google search. Here is a fellow that does it a bit differently. Now..... When you say domancy do you mean when only using the AA Print Core and yet PVA remains in the BB Print Core? I ask because we realized after a minor issue that even when the BB Print Core is not part of the print it still heats up and we found that the PVA would begin to burn within the Print Core. We did not experience a total blockage however, we had to remove a significant amount of brown carbonized material. Since then we unload the PVA after every print and reload as needed; even if the next print uses PVA as the risk is simply to high if we forget run a simple quick print. Add to this we keep spare Print Cores on hand.
  21. I read your post expecting someone from Ultimaker to reply; sadly I don’t have an answer but am interested. For what it’s worth; when 3.5 was deployed there was an issue with Breakaway support being placed incorrectly; this issue is to be fixed in release 3.6; maybe this is associated with that issue. Regardless; it has been 2 1/2 days and in my opinion someone should have tried to assist you.
  22. Sadly I agree that presenting a problem the best the end user can seems difficult without individuals taking it personally. I know that both you and “ahoben” are trying to assist albeit from different sides of the proverbial table. I hope that cooler heads prevail and that the process to define and resolve remains. Takes care
  23. No Nvidia video issues seen here; GTX1060 in laptop and a pair of GTX1080TII in desktop. Both of these machines have the latest Game Day drivers. I hope you get your issue resolved. Did you try “resetting” Cura Connect?
