Cura is placing an unwanted layer in the middle of my cylinder

Im new at this so please have patience.  Ive been trying to print this adapter i made in Blender and cant seem to figure out why Cura places a wafer in the middle of the mesh. I need it to be hollow all the way through. If i need to fix the mesh in blender i will. I thought my normals were good to go. Any ideas?

if using blender you probably have reversed normals  (or missing walls).  You shouldn't be able to but unfortunately, Blender lets you set which side of a wall has plastic and which side has air (most CAD programs don't even ask or have the option to create non-solids but blenders lets you reverse these).  Here's how to fix your model.

In the upper right corner of Cura click "marketplace" and make sure you are on the "plugins" tab and install "Mesh Tools".  Then restart Cura.  Now right click on your model, choose "mesh tools" and first choose
"check mesh", then if that passes choose "fix model normals" and "fix simple holes".

I have a question related to this (also somewhat of a rookie on this). I am trying to print the simplest tube you can imagine. When slicing it in Cura i see support plastic in the whole of the tube making in useless. I can not find any way in Cura to turn this off. I have unchecked "Generate support".

Any hints highly appreciated.

@jeson, your model is actually 2 models grouped together. Select the group, right-click and select "Ungroup models". Then click on the inside of the cilinder (selecting one of the 2 models) and either move it out of the way or delete it.

MeshTools already checks meshes as they are loaded. It is not necessary to check them again, unless you want to check if the "Fix simple holes" function managed to get the model manifold.

Thanks for the help. My problem still remains, though. The empty space witin the tube gets filled with support structure that I do not want.

@jedver24   sorry, but it does look not even close to be printable at all... 🧐

 

 

I never used Blender (and it's for sure not the best tool to design such technical things).
