Cura 5.9

I upgraded from 5.8 to 5.9, but 5.9 does not prime print core 1 before starting to print, hence prints fail as material is not extruding properly at the start of the print.

I reverted back to V5.8 and the print core 1 prime works Ok and print is a success.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue with V5.9.

 

Note if you let the print proceed the first part associated with print core 1 is missing but the material will start to extrude part way through and hence is OK until the next pass over the initial missing print portion and from there on the print is a mess.

You mean Cura 4.9?

 

I just upgraded to Cura 4.9 from 4.8 too. I am having a similar problem. But on the 2nd extruder of my Ultimaker 3.

 

No matter what I do, enabled Prime Blob or not... toggle the checkbox, power cycle, etc. etc. The 2nd extruder's Prime Blob was never generated with 4.9. It always went directly to the first adhesion layer of the 2nd extruder without the blob. The 1st extruder's prime blob worked for me though.

 

I use breakaway on the 2nd extruder extensively -- pretty much every print except trivial prints. This caused the first few layers to be dry and incomplete thus rendering the whole support useless, thus pretty much all my prints failed. I had to revert back to 4.8.

I think few other people have the luxury of a timemachine. I don't think Cura 5.9 will be available before the end of 2023.

Yes apologies I upgraded from 4.8 to 4.9, the issue is with 4.9.

 

I'm using PLA extruder 1, Breakaway extruder 2. Issue is with the opposite extruder to Hempstead.

Indeed, prime blob of extruder 2 is not performed. For extruder 1 it works as used to.

Cura 4.9 has indeed a bug that affects all S-line printers (and probably also the Ultimaker 3) in the way described above. Ultimaker is working on it. In the meantime, it is recommended to use Cura 4.8 for the affected printers (for dual prints).

It is being addressed, but wouldn’t you rather have a tested solution than a quick one?
