Ultimaker s5 - printing problem

Hello everyone,

We have 4 Ultimaker s5, we have a job print to do.

1 of them ( which is a newer one) have some print quality problems.

We used the same file, on all 4, only this one came with this problem.

We used the same filament, cleaned the nozzel, switched the print core from one that is printing ok, tighten the bolts all the bolts, re sliced the file. Same and same results.

Any tips?any ideas what can cause this?

I will attach also a benchy test.

Thank you in advance!

Those fuzzy lines on the bow are the same results from time to time not often  on my S5 with air manager

one print layer can be slight off cause the issue then back to a fine print.......I think the filament is the issue.....

Settings are the same on all s5's, only this one is printing like this.

Fan's are cleand and working perfectly.

I see you have swapped printcores between the printers and still get the same problem, i wonder if the fan's in the new model are not as good as the fan's in the older model. I'm guessing you have already tired other spools of filament on the printer and get the same?

Could it be the "Core" to "Glass" setting?

Looks to me like the core is too close and squashing filament....

    Hello

Your text sounds almost like a kind of ghost hunt.
To me it also looks like printing too hot.

If it's not the two component vents (right and left of the head), it could theoretically also be the sensor on the print head.
The sensor is more or less just a resistor that can have different values depending on the manufacturing process.
Have you tried a print core on the printer?

Quite a stupid idea. Looks like PLA is used instead of others like ABS. So I would also try a different filament roll.

    Many greetings

ABS and PLA, same results, 2 different spools.

Sensos on the print head works normally, we tried different print corest.
    Vents works perfectly.

We try now with Air stationd dissabled.

We tried a different print, with air station removed.

Without Airmanager, the PLA may warp if the build space gets too warm / if you do not open the cover.
The ABS prints just as well without Airmanager. But it smells more.

I also like to confuse too hot with under-extrusion.

Another idea. Just take a guess in the blue.
Are all printers from the same model? (as you know, there are two model series of the S5).
I don't know the model differences in detail. But I know that the newer ones have different feeder rollers.
So I can imagine that it can be such a problem if you swap the firmware of the printers.
If you update the software manually and there are different model series of the S5, this can happen.
I don't know if it looks like this. Theoretically, it could just as well hail errors. I haven't tried it yet.

We know the difference from PLA and ABS, we use them for 2 years now.

We event print PP Nylon CPE+ and soon with Metal.

The problem is on the newer printer, witch is a new model series.

Setting are the same, the printer is now without the Air Station. Same problems.

Change the settings on the newr model, what Cura recomands, same problem

For us it's seems like is a belt problems, but before opening the printer we wanted to see if there are other opinions.

Have you updated the firmware with the correct model version (old/new)?

So you have four printers of the new model series ... because otherwise it's not the same. As written, because of the differences in the firmware version in relation to the model series.
    https://support.ultimaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360011545559

If you were to work with 1.75 filament instead of 2.85 mm, it would look the same.

Be that as it may, I would still try a firmware update. Maybe it messed up the steps/mm or some other value somehow. Files are copied during the update. If the printer or its Linux has not locked a file at the same time, this can happen. I don't know to what extent the update recognises filelocks. In any case, the SD on the core board sometimes ticks.

    Also ghost hunting

Updated firmware manually, as the link above. Same.

    Updated Cura, same.

Printed with our settings, printed with Cura predefined settings, same.

Ultimaker PLA, and Ultimaker ABS, brand new spools, 3x PLA, 3x ABS, on the others printers, everything is ok, only on this one.

    Another PLA print, same results

I would try to tune the printer settings in relation to the individual sensors.

For example, if you set the temperature 25% lower, it is then evident from the result that it is the ADC of the board. This would mean that the printer always prints 25% too warm.

Unfortunately, electronics is basically very analog. Such errors are possible.

      • S-Line Firmware 8.3.0 was released Nov. 20th on the "Latest" firmware branch.
(Sorry, was out of office when this released)

        This update is for...
        All UltiMaker S series
        New features

Temperature status. During print preparation, the temperatures of the print cores and build plate will be shown on the display. This gives a better indication of the progress and remaining wait time. Save log files in paused state. It is now possible to save the printer's log files to USB if the currently active print job is paused. Previously, the Dump logs to USB option was only enabled if the printer was in idle state. Confirm print removal via Digital Factory. If the printer is connected to the Digital Factory, it is now possible to confirm the removal of a previous print job via the Digital Factory interface. This is useful in situations where the build plate is clear, but the operator forgot to select Confirm removal on the printer’s display. Visit this page for more information about this feature.
