  1. Labern - it was exactly my experience yesterday. However, on other day, it printed well up to 260C. Could it be that the room temperature comes into the play? It's relatively cold here now, about 17C in the room. Last week we had about 23C. Do not know what else it might be. The humidity perhaps?
  2. Hi Ali, Thanks! The design is not mine, all the credits are due to the person who asked me to print this as a present to his nephew. I will ask his permission to make it public.
  3. Hi UltiArjan, It's nothing special, really. The figurine is Faberdashery Desert Tan, 200C or 210C, do not remember. 0.08mm layer, 30mm/sec speed, 0% infill, .8mm shell. The trident is from Faberdashery's Gold, 200C, 0.04mm, 30mm/sec. The bed is 60C all the time.
  4. Hallo foehnsturm, Right now I'm struggling with Colorfabb XT, trying to make a transparent print, with very mixed results. My findings so far: Hotter = more transparent. Usually, not always. Not sure when and why. Fan = less transparent, probably due to air microbubbles entering between the layers. 30mm/sec is better than 50 mm/sec, but the later is also not bad. Bed temperature should be 70C, otherwise it has a problem to stick to the bed and the first layers transparency is bad. 0.1-0.15mm layers are OK. 110% infill seems to produce better clarity but less precise prints. Use as less internal non-straight lines. It is better to set the shell to something very high, like 50mm, ensuring consistent parallel lines of infill (if the infill is required). With all that, there was a nasty surprise: some parts went off the glass bed WITH small pieces of the glass. So now, I have cavities on one side of the glass. How's that? Bottom line - I wasn't very successful in obtaining good transparent prints with the Colorfabb XT. Would be happy to see an advice.
  5. I was contacted a couple of weeks ago by someone from South Africa asking to print a few examples on UM2, as he wanted to see the quality before buying the printer itself. Sadly, he couldn't find anyone closer to him than me (in Israel). However, a colleague of mine was travelling to South Africa just at the right time, so the shipment was timely delivered. So, this is what was sent, in addition of the cuddling cats (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:241748), as a surprise bonus: Now, please see the mail I got in reply (with the author's permission, of course): Admit, this worth every bit of the effort and the hassle that were made to organize the timely prints and the logistics! It would be about second or third person making the buying decision after seeing my UM2 or consulting with me. Shall I ask the UM for a commission? Keep up good work UM!
  6. After replacing my 1-year old teflon coupler with the new one, the printer hits again 10mm3/sec like a breeze! Yuppee-doo!
  7. Well, what is done, is done. It certainly took quite a bit of the thinking and IMHO - courage to announce the decision to abandon the dual extruder. Noone is happy, but that's it. I still appreciate their honesty with the customers. Many companies would have done the things much differently and certainly not better for us, the end-users. My next question is - would UM re-design the printhead of UM2 to allow better cooling, among the rest?
  8. Then, I'm knocked out completely. What resolution/filament did you use to achieve such a great surface finish?
  9. Well, since I posted my problem, it would be proper to post the resolution of it, too. After being contacted by both the support and Sander (sometimes asking the same questions), the UM admitted the mistake of dispatching the order on other address after receiving the cancellation request. They suggested to send me the Teflon coupler to my home, free of charge, and they did just that, via the FedEx. To remind you, the shipping cost of the tiny coupler to me on the UM site is set to outraging 41Euro. All in all, this demonstrates fully why I complain and why I love the UM. They make mistakes, but they are honest, and they try to resolve the ongoing issues honestly, no matter what. We can only wish that every business in the world would share the same guiding principles. My appreciation. B)
  10. Yup, I agree with Solonari, too. Despite all the horror stories, I love the machine and the people behind it. Even the ones from the support.

OK, Skint and TinyDancer - thanks for the suggestions! Eventually, I gave the guy printed owl from the thingiverse with the logo of our department on side and the guy's name printed on a plate hanging on the owl. The WOW! effect was fully achieved. Happy.
  12. Sander, could you please look into this one? http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/8380-delivery-and-order-issues-poor-support-service/?p=87219 #14358537 Sabrina van Beem is nice person and answers patiently once in a while. In her last mail she stated "I don't know why this has happened". At this point, I only want my money back. If the coupler will ever find its way to me, I will gladly repay.

That's for sure, the guy will be taken care of. But I want to 3D print something for him. Maybe, a stretchlet in the colors of Eire?
  14. The largest class - with the best 3D printers, of course! http://www.newsdrawer.com/haifa-opens-the-largest-educational-3d-print-classroom-in-the-world/

I have no food certified PLA. More ideas wanted..
  16. Could that be because the head is so close to the glass that it gets completely clogged by the glue (why would you use the glue at all)? Can't see for certain, it looks like the head leaves a tail in the glue on the glass.
  17. It gets even better day by the day... 6/01 Mail from Sabrina, the UM Support Team: "...I will cancel your order. Could you please inform me how you paid your order." Promptly replied, of course. 8/01 New email: ==================== Ultimaker - Order dispatch Dear Sir / Madam, Your order is offered today to our carrier. ==================== What grass do they smoke?
  18. Well, in abscence of Ian, let's ask the community. The next week a colleague of me is coming from Ireland to have some meetings here. What would you suggest as a small informal gift for him to make?
  19. and the worst part, the Makershit will shamelessly receive all the credits for "their" invention. And noone, not a single Ultimaker as it seems, is going to correct that.
  20. Thanks for the help! After carefully reducing the printing temperature to 205 and even 200C, the overall quality improved as adviced here. However, these horrible underextrusions... They didn't get worse, but when printing the raft, the printer clicks violently many times. Then, it behaves more or less normally when it prints the parts themselves. Well, most of the times. Ohhh. And the UM were unable to ship me the teflon coupler, so I'm stuck....
  21. I do not want to open a new topic as the title of this one suits well. My order #14358537 for a new teflon coupler was put and paid on 24/12. I even got the receipt emailed promptly. However, no coupler yet... Not a single message of when it is going to be sent... Due to some time constraints, I have to cancel the order. Sander - please assist.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys. The nozzle is supposed to be clean, I gave it a few atomic pulls not too long ago. If I will lower the temperature, it will jump and underextrude heavily. My UM2 is almost one year old (yaw!), oiled the axes several times and did all kinds of small maintenance things over that time. However, as I put it in another thread, the Bowden tube looks worn out and there is strong suspicion about the teflon although the visual inspection of the later found nothing outstanding, just wear of the time.
  23. Hi, While waiting for a new teflon thing and the new bowden, there are still prints to do. Please see the surface quality: 0.1mm height, 30mm/sec, 220-230C (no visible difference). Using Faberdashery Architect's Stone. If you zoom the photo, the roughness of the surface can be seen, even with some little underextrusions here and there, although no clicks occur and in general, the result is acceptable yet. However, where is my beloved Ultimaker quality? I want it back...
  24. Blizz - lovely bouquet! Any chance of sharing it perhaps? ;-) I would print the "smile" parts separately and then glue them to the place, for the simplicity. And of course - Happy New Year!
