  1. Cool, good to know I'm not the only one with a buggy update. Dim3nsioneer so we're switching back to 2.1 I guess, will reinstall the previous version and report back whether it fixed the problem for me as well. EDIT: Yep, the supports system works fine now, no more hang ups and crashes, thanks for the idea Dim3nsioneer, silly of me not to think of this myself, especially since I'm an ATI owner lol and have to do this almost monthly...
  2. Hi guys & gals, anyone else experiencing issues with MeshMixer lately? Since I installed it I never had issues, but for the last two days, with same models that I could fix and create supports for with no problems, no get hung up in the "Sampling" stage of the "Add supports" process... crashes the programme, need to manually shut down the process in Task Manager in order to close it and restart it... If anyone else has this issue and has found a solution I'd be grateful for a tip. Btw, I redownloaded their latest version and reinstalled it - the problem persists..
  3. Well that's scary  there go my ideas of overnight prints :-P
  4. Coolness, especially the meteorites for me personally! Thanks for the share Blizz
  5. Well I'm primarly a graphic designer, dunno perhaps I could contribute with my design skills in more of a branding way? Other then that I work in 3D as well, been using C4D for years now, mostly for fun so I doubt I could contribute by modeling scale-relevant parts for this... Ummm I would be happy to print out different parts when we have some models and test if as well. But right now I can only offer a creative input as in designing graphics, who knows maybe I will have some useful ideas in the building dept as well. Will certainly keep an eye out, mind open and try to contribute in any way I can Let's make this happen.
  6. wow cool stuff dirk, thanks for the numbers, will give them a try one day
  7. Soooo now that my third rose is finally finished, a report follows. So the print finished fine, just when the countdown got down to 6 seconds or so was a bit jumping up and down (trying to estimate I guess), but that's I'm guessing due to the print head moving out of the way for a few seconds, to let the top layer cool down it gets a bit confused. So at the end it did again say 6 hours remaining, however the print ended well only a minute or two later, so again Sander you were right. One thing that did bother me though and it might be that I made a setting which is doing this and I don't know about it (I am guessing something to do with retraction?) is that when the print head moves away from the print to let it cool down a bit, the material doesn't stop extruding from the nozzle, which means that of course some of it acumulates and when the print head decides it's time to continue printing it adds this small blob of material on to the layer, which results you can imagine how in unwanted artifacts. Also when the printhead moves to cool down the top layers, it drags a string with it so the end result at the very top of the print is stringiness - which can be of course cut off later. So any ideas how to disable the extrusion of material during the "cool off period" when the print head gets away from the print for a few secs? Aaand a nice little photo of the rose for you all
  8. Yea I thought it might be that since I did set it to 8 sec (Minimal layer time setting). So I think I will just leave it finish and see what happens - although the 1 min to 6 hours time change distracts me and I then think it must be a "bug" or something. Will report back, thanks Sander Dim3nsioneer
  9. Ah ok, although up till now the time was pretty much dead on, counting to the last seconds and the print actually finished on time. On another note, just wanted to add to this post that I am experiencing the same behaviour (on the same model, the open rose from thingiverse). After it's done (time countdown wise) it goes to Time remaining 6 hours and keeps moving the head away from model for a few seconds (as if wanting it to allow to cool down a bit) then going back on the model to add a few more layers, even though in all honesty I believe the model is finished. I have to make another rose any way, so this time I just might leave it and see how long it will be in this loop. Will report back.
  10. I think it's an awesome idea, bringing 3D printing enthusiasts even closer. So how can one contribute?
  11. Hi Phil, thanks for the post, was just about to make a post with the exact same question. I really love Meshmixer UI and the works, so I would love it if it was possible to add UM2 into the software so we could model, fix etc. objects for our UM2s in Meshmixer as well optimally of course. So any takers on this question?
  12. Yep good call, that was the problem. Gcode being "empty". Did a swipe of all gcodes (pretty much just the default ones) generated new gcode for a model, ejected the SD card and off we go - printing again Thanks Dim3nsioneer EDITED: Although, I was thinking if that was the case (and it obviuosly was), why would at the final minute of my print from yesterday evening all of a sudden go from 1 min left to 6 hours remaining. Could it be that because of not ejecting the SD card properly it messed up the last part (sorry if that sounded stupid but I am no developer) of the gcode?
  13. Hi I have an interesting problem, which I have no clue why it happened or even worse how to fix it. Until yesterday afternoon everything was pretty much printing as it should now all of a sudden for let's say an object which Cura says would print 2h 12mins, and when I put it on SD card and insert it into the printer, when pressing Print it initially also says 2hours, but then things change. 1.) All of a sudden it says Time left 6 hours (no matter which object I want to print). 2.) Buildplate lifts up, but the print head remains in the front left corner with material oozing out as if it started the process, but the printhead just doesn't move to position and starts to build. Hmmm... Any suggestions? The first time this happened was yesterday 1 min till the end of a print, when it said 1 min left, and all of a sudden it went to "Time left 6 hours" and kept oozing material onto an almost finished object. I did a Factory reset yesterday evening when this first happened, but it didn't help much. I am seeing the same problem today. Help :???:
  14. Man I love Meshmixer - thanks for the tip gr5, you can set everything from the base, tip and post crazy this is gonna make my life so much easier. Actually the tube came out quite nice at 0.2. On the lower part ,where the supports were there's a lot left, but that's probably normal and there probably isn't much one can do about it other the post process it by sanding etc.?
  15. Welcome to the forum Matej you will find it is a very resourceful and helpful community thanks to a few very quick to response and skilled 3D printing dudes, developers and actual Ultimaker Staff.
  16. Quick and easy fix then glad you found the solution so fast.
  17. Cool Deep, but isn't it then harder to disconnect the support from the object or do you make sure that the connecting points are thiner then the actual pillars (support)?
  18. Didier but how does that help you mid print. Pause at height being a plugin in Cura, I assume is only useable for planned pauses correct? Not for a damn, gotta go (insert here) for an hour or so, but am too chickened out to leave the printer running
  19. @ Meduza Oh wow awesome print and post work, looks so effin realistic.
  20. Found a link to where gr5 explains further on the issue of curling, so if anyone else sees my topic here, they can check this link: http://umforum.ultimaker.com/index.php?/topic/4094-raised-edges/
  21. Thanks for the tip about adding additional supports. Will keep my fingers crossed for the print that is in the process right now, but have added aditional supports already to the model, so if the first one goes to hell, I will go fresh with the modified model.
  22. Hi, another day another problem for me to solve with your help So I have noticed on certain more "weak" 3D models I was trying to print, that on some level, my nozzle going back and forth and left and right tends to touch the latest layer, I mean it actually starts to move (or push on, smear) to the print when going over or adding a new layer and sometimes it ends with a tipped over print middle of the print process. Please see video, for what exactly I mean, the problem happens for both the supports (not seen on this video) and on the object (seen on this video). https://vimeo.com/101391757 Annnnd there we go, in the middle of me writing this post, for this exact reason (described above), one of the supports got tipped over and as a result of course it starts printing wrongly and it screws the whole process. P.S. If I add supports in MeshMixer, should I disable supports (Everywhere or Touching buildplate) in Cura and just leave the Adhesion type on? See photo below. Also that red "orb" or dot in the left corner in the MeshMixer viewport it's supposed to be an issue and by clicking on it you should be able to try and fix it, but nothing happens in my case.. any ideas?
  23. Cool thanks Daid! If there isn't a "Tips&Tricks" section on the forum yet, that'd be a great idea, you know those every day things that you might think off and save someone else a shitload of time... would be cool.
