  1. Welcome to the club Aaron! I'm a volunteer as well and I printed a test hand not too long ago, plan on printing a new one as I like how you and others have used a two colour scheme for the hand as I just printed mine out in black initially. Love the Wolverine hand, will you be making those designs available for others to print out?
  2. Anyone make one of these? http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:51806 Just wondering as it mentions using a raft and supports, specifically 30 degree horizontal, whatever that means.
  3. Thanks for the info Valcrow. And I shared your video with a few friends, nothing but praise for your airbrushing skills my friend.
  4. Nice page. Looks like there are only a couple of other hubs here in Ottawa, and the neither of them are using printers that can rival the mighty UM2, so I think there is an opportunity here. Btw, is there a way in Cura to show how many cubic centimeters are in a given part?
  5. It took a few tries to get it right, but it was a good learning experience as I hadn't printed anything that small before. I printed most of the parts at a little lower layer height, so maybe that's why they look better. Great design though, everything fits together quite nicely and I love those interlocking bits as they hold quite well. Looking forward to following your tutorial once I get around to getting an airbrushing system.
  6. Finally made one of those lightsabers. Really impressed at how well it turned out.
  7. Anyone have a 3dhub? I was thinking of joining that site.
  8. I'm almost finished printing out the complex lightsaber. Have to say that paint job you did looks amazing, well done! I'm thinking of getting an airbrushing kit and learn how to paint. Do you have any recommendations on what kind of system to get?
  9. Please do! I was so happy when UM started distributing out of the US, as I wasn't keen on ordering all the way from the Netherlands. Now make the spare parts available out of the US as well, dammit! (I know, customers are never satisfied  )
  10. This kind of thing just baffles me. When I did my research a while back and literally had a spreadsheet for every 3d printer available that was within the price range of the UM2, there wasn't a single printer that came close to it. You could go a little cheaper if you wanted to sacrifice something, but in the end it was apparent the UM2 was the one to buy. And it looks so FANCY!! Imagine a print farm of UM2s? One can dream. Although I'm going to buy a 2nd one in the new year, no matter what kind of bitching I have to hear from my bank account.
  11. Thanks for your responses, I'm going to have to look into those methods. It would be nice to have an easy way to repair prints rather than printing them again to avoid those imperfections. Cheers!
  12. I print at 40-60 microns all the time, to me the prints come out looking amazing so I've never tried anything lower.
  13. Yes that's right Valcrow, sorry I have a terrible memory. :-) I think I might try some of the Taulman next or maybe some Ninja Flex from Voxel, but I'm skeptical if their cheap ABS will work with the UM2. Let me know how filaments.ca works out.
  14. I posted a few of my creations on facebook and had people make that exact remark. I love the aesthetics of the UM2. Nice work Illuminati!
  15. In the future for anyone who might be ordering from the US, I suggest to go through Dynamism. Great customer service and I received my printer here in Canada from Chicago in 2 days after shipping. Even had payment issues and they were quickly handled once I got things sorted out on my end.
  16. Dynamism said they get in new shipments every week, at least when I bought mine a month ago. They have great customer service if you haven't contacted them already.
  17. I'm not sure if it was you or someone else that tipped me off to them, but I have ordered 3 spools from them already and with a $15 shipping cost, I got them 2 days later. Have to say I'm very impressed and thankful for the suggestion as $40 a roll is quite reasonable. So thank you!
  18. I have to say I agree with Korneel. I plan on ordering the Hot end pack with an extra PTFE coupler, but I really have no idea what other parts I should get as well. Should I get an extra bowden tube, belts, or any other parts as well? I live in Canada so obviously I wouldn't want to have a lot of downtime if I have to get parts from the Netherlands. I wouldn't worry as much if I could get them from the US, which hopefully is planned for the future since mine was assembled in the US. Luckily I only plan on printing with PLA for the time being so at least that gives me some piece of mind about wear and tear on the coupler.
  19. Yeah I can't wait until they start distributing Ultimakers in Canada, would be nice to not have to pay the higher shipping costs as I'm thinking of getting a second one in the new year. That doesn't surprise me about the 5th generation MBs, after extensive research I found mostly negative reviews and horror stories about people having to get multiple smart extruders sent to them because they failed again and again. I have to say that after putting over 200+ hours on my UM2 since I got it a month ago, I am more than pleased with my purchase.
  20. Hey folks, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with using some sort of filler material that you could use to correct some errors in prints using PLA that you could apply and then sand them down to get a better finish on a part? I'm looking at model making, and the parts would be airbrushed afterwards. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers!
  21. Lots of great information here, I'll likely get a couple made in the next week. I'll let you know what it costs me. Thanks!
  22. I searched but couldn't find anything on it. Since the glass build plate is so important, I was wondering if it was a certain type of glass as I'd like to have some replacements made in case I ever break it. Anyone know?
  23. I thought there would be more of us. Cheers Valcrow!
