  1. are you able to extrude manually, turn the wooden gear in the back by hand so the plastic runs out smoothly? Did you close the extruder on the back properly, black lever to the bottom? Does the black wheel in the extruder on the back turn freely?
  2. first advice: look at the xray view for red areas, there is probably something wrong with your cad model.
  3. Any updates on the 'surface' in surface mode? It still refuses to slice something. And is there a reason for not asking to overwrite a file on a sd card? Saving to file does ask permission.
  4. check the x-ray view for cad problems. Red is bad.
  5. if you hold it with pliers (no finger burn) close to the nozzle and shove in it bit by bit. It is soft, yes, but very available. For harder wire I use strands of a metal wire brush.
  6. recognise these? the clips inside garbage bags or small plastic bags for sandwiches etc.? Don't know if these are common in other countries... But they are perfect to unclog a nozzle, there are always plenty of them unused, and the metal strand inside is small enough to enter the nozzle and doesn't damage or break anything.
  7. the wire didn't feel loose but it looks like the contact wasn't great. Probably due to heat the grey cover melted... I will clean it as much as possible, looks dark inside, and retighten everything.
  8. On closer inspection one of the cables looks suspicious. Starting to think that the problem started over there. Can I use it again? Read in other threads that the wire ends should not be tinned?
  9. Is this the only part that got fried? Did you check the rest of the cables going to the heated bed? Mine had the same problem and on closer inspection one of the cables looks suspicious. Starting to think that the problem started over there. Just for experiment I ordered IRF8736PBF MOSFET to see if I can repair it myself 8). They are very inexpensive, just 0,35 Euro a piece (and 9,50 Euro delivery)
  10. did you look at the layer preview? Do the first layers show up in the bottom layers? Just to be sure..
  11. looks more like a cad problem. Inspect your model with the x-ray or transparent view (upper right), red areas are bad...
  12. Kun je in Cura kijken onder Machine->Machine settings of het formaat van je bed goed staat ingesteld?
  13. are these safe to order? (Netherlands) Mine are the same as yours: P411G 087Y F873? Can't read the last number, too dark. There is a production sticker (?) nr. 8276-0356 on the PCB. I have another UMO-HB with the same MOSFET, but sticker nr. 8276-0389.
  14. put a washers in between, I had the same problem.
  15. I used the printer lately without the heated bed: in the controller set the preheat for the bed to zero (and Cura too). Doing a lot of small things on tape for a demo, so not having to wait for the bed to heat and cool. Noticed the smell and the temp of the bed when turning it on. Sounds dangerous as well, this runaway temp, shouldn't there be some kind of safety?
  16. wow! that is expensive!, but what causes this? is it going to happen again?
  17. Neotko is sending me a replacement PCB, but if there is a short somewhere, it might happen again. I will try to find somebody who can debug this with me, I don't have great electrical skills. Soldering is fine (being a goldsmith).
  18. you might want to invert a pattern: black is slow, white is fast
  19. Came across this great development by Mark Wheadon who makes beautiful prints with his idea to combine a pattern and print speed. His idea was made into an app by Guillaume and is easy to use. Find more about this here and support these guys! A video tutorial can be found The idea is that you take a good black and white picture (white is fast, black is slow) and use one of the projections (x-y-z-cylinder-sphere) on an already sliced gcode. The viewer on the site makes it easy to see the result.
  20. For now back to the old situation without the heated bed until I found a new PCB.
  21. Turned on my UMO with heated bed Upgrade and it smelled strange. Trying to determine where this came from, discovered that there is a part of the HeaterBoard loose... where it says Q2. There is a red light left of it which turned off the moment I touched and shifted the Q2 part. Looks like it was never soldered well to start with, there is no stress on the part, it is covered and protected all the time. It came off easily, hanging on 1 or 2 joints... It smells bad, probably means that it is bad...
  22. direct from engine, newest Cura beta2
  23. can somebody else check this: Cura 2.5 Beta2 UM3 layer view: an AA (pla) and a BB (pva) core active, the layer view highlights everything in the pla/AA view and the pva/BB view is dark. The support should be highlighted in the BB view, isn't it? The print is fine..
  24. @peterbrown77 I guess it has something to do with how Makerbot handles things, as you can see I fitted 9 in with 'one at a time'. The resolution bug is not something I have encountered with an Ultimaker...
