  1. Wait, what? So when you choose a first layer of 0.1mm, Cura is expecting the nozzle to actually be 0.1 + one sheet of paper = 0.2mm? Does it also over-extrude the first layer to account for this?
  2. The gauge is used to get accurate bed leveling (especially when new to 3D printing - I don't use it much any more). That doesn't mean a slight adjustment won't still be necessary, but it's a really good starting point. I also treat each first layer thickness the same from a leveling perspective. I use the gauge so the first layer will be exactly what you request from Cura. If you level the bed to 0.1mm while it is set to 0.1mm Z height, then you get a precise height. Again, fine adjustment may still be needed. So yes, probably +/- 50 microns or so. It can be important for proper bed adhesion when no heated bed is present. I agree with the overthinking, but as a beginner it is one of the many things a person must get a feel for. Then it isn't complicated or difficult to adjust realtime.
  3. I have a UMO. I assume you have a similar "move axis" option in the UM2 menu on the printer. I just turn the screws slightly (knobs in your case) and remove pressure from the screw driver between adjustments.
  4. I use the same leveling regardless of first layer thickness. I level my bed using feeler gauges like @xeno does. I lower the bed from home position to 0.1mm using the UltiController, then match nozzle height to 0.1mm feeler gauge. Leveling from home position using a sheet of paper increases the first layer height by the thickness of said sheet of paper, so I don't use that method. After an occasional re-level, I mostly use my eye to make minor adjustments during the first layer, often while the brim is printing.
  5. did the location change? I bet it's the same.
  6. Why? The last version has errors? 15.06.xx is basically a public beta and may or may not work depending on your hardware and printing needs. 15.04 is stable.
  7. I would stick with 15.04 for now, regardless of your OS.
  8. Use M104 instead. M109 waits for the temperature to be reached before continuing.
  9. What about Flow Compensation for various parts: Bottom Flow % Top Flow % Infill Flow % Support Flow % etc.. vs. the one Flow % setting that is currently available.
  10. Check the "Bed Temperature" checkbox in Machine settings and set the value to 0 degrees in Advanced. It will not insert the M190 line into your .gcode that way.
  11. If you Run as Admin there is.
  12. Huh. That is weird. Does the firmware update show when you select that one? Yes. The only Extension that shows a dialog is Update Firmware. Check for Updates does not.
  13. Just a note for OS X users. The plugin goes in Cura Application /Contents/Resources/cura/plugins NOT /Contents/Resources/plugins. I mistakenly trew it in the wrong folder the first time. @nallath, the plugin shows in my menu bar but I get no dialog box when choosing it.
  14. Have you tried 15.04? You should be able to update firmware from that stable version.
  15. Did you download 15.06 or 15.06.01? 15.06 didn't work unless you had a beta version installed prior.
  16. Do you have a "Print to USB" button available on OS X version? I only have "Save to Disk". Issue posted on github But maybe it only works when the USB is connected? It is. I just wanted confirmation that I wasn't the only one with no Print button.
  17. Do you have a "Print to USB" button available on OS X version? I only have "Save to Disk". Issue posted on github
  18. Installing a beta version (15.05.97) and relaunching 15.06 allowed it to run on Win 8.1.
  19. Same here on a Win 8.1 VM with 15.02.1 being the last installed Cura.
  20. I have only ever seen a "Save to Disk" option. Never a "Print" option. Issue #74 and #76 on github are still present (#76 was just created).
