  1. So far I have not had any issues losing connection with Cura 4 but I had many problems with it on Cura 3.4/3.6. Very annoying as it often seemed the only way to fix it is power cycle the UM3 and reopen Cura. @gr5 There is a Reset Cura Connect option in the UM3 menu under System or Maintenance. Never really seemed to help me though.
  2. More troubleshooting: realized that it prints fine when I switched to the other nozzle so suspecting the printcore may be getting too hot somehow. I measured the resistance of thermistor and heater but it seems normal compared to the other core, at least at room temperature.
  3. My UM3 is a year old and my prints have suddenly started coming out quite bad. I print with Ultimaker nylon and use a Printdry system, I am pretty certain this is not moisture issues, plus I have tried it with a brand new spool that was just opened. I print with stock profiles and I have done hundreds of these exact parts without issue. I seem to be getting extreme drooping/melting on layers that are not even on overhangs. I suspected some kind of cooling issue but did not notice any debris or anything inhibiting the fan. Cranking the fan speed to 100% drastically helps but does not get everything back to normal. Any ideas on things to look for that may be causing this? I have attached some comparison photos for reference. The far left part is the "control" that i printed a while ago. The middle part is with cooling at 100%. The right part is with stock 40% cooling.
  4. I had this happen and the problem was I changed a printcore and manually leveled the bed considerably. Then I forgot and went back to the original print core. Didn't realize but the nozzle just pressed the glass down and printed "nothing" until the build plate got low enough to start printing normal again.
  5. Ultimaker 3 with Cura 3.4.1 Most of my printing is done "one at a time", but I often need to abort the print half way through. Problem is the build plate will only lower enough to clear what layer it is currently printing, and then the printhead will crash through all the finished parts on its way home. Is there a quick fix for this?
  6. I had to go back to 3.4.1. I seem to have the memory leak issue with 3.5.1 that made everything unusable.
  7. 3.5 seems to "work" fine for me, but it will crash every 20-30 minutes or so. No error or anything, it just closes.
  8. The NFC tags peel off easily if you heat them up. (noticed after running 70C in my PrintDry). Then you can easily store them and just slip them onto the spool holder as necessary.
  9. I have a CR-10 mini and have just been using the CR-10 defaults with good results, adjust the bed size though.
  10. Not the best photo but here is a print I did today that I was happy with. Notice the "blob of doom" in the corner that happened again, although it seemingly recovered from it on its own this time as I wasn't watching it at the time.
  11. Yeah, it just seems like thats the problem for me right now. Infilling thin gaps with nylon seems to cause it blob over the edge.
  12. What kind of speeds are considered "lower"? By default Cura sets UM nylon at 70mm. I also tried at 35mm but didn't really see any difference.
  13. I guess I mean I am tweaking the actual mechanical design, but I don't always have control of these. If someone design a part with 1mm thick wall the slicer will have to make compromises to get it right with a 0.4mm or 0.8mm nozzle.
  14. I am already seeing drastically better results today. I have been playing with the wall thickness settings to better match my 0.4mm nozzle. It seems a big problem is if the printer has to rapidly jog back and forth to fill gaps, if I eliminate this the blobs go away.
  15. I will say I am using the supplied glue stick with my nylon and it works great. Without it I would get warping and sometimes the print would break loose. My glass has always been set at 60C.
  16. My print is relatively small, its 1" tall for reference. I am making some progress by tinkering with settings but I was hoping the UM3 would have been a lot more hassle free. My CR-10 mni at home has worked a lot better although I have only been doing PLA. My UM3 crashed the plate right out of the box with its active leveling and I already had a major glitch where the printer "froze" at the beginning where it moves to the front left side and deposits a bunch of filament to clear the nozzle. It ended up stuck there flooding its nozzle with a puddle of filament, couldn't even abort the print with the display, had to kill it with the power switch. I'm going to try some more prints today so we will see how it goes. I don't mind if you use this thread for your own problems.
  17. Hello all, I am pretty much a 3D printing novice but I am in charge of an UM3 for my work. We just received it this week and we primarily want to print in nylon but I have never really got a print to the point that I like. The prints are very "scabby" and rough. I thought it may have been a levelling issue so i disabled active leveling and tweaked it manually. This seemed to work great for the first half of my print but then it went back to its scabby ways. (see photos) Cura 3.2.1 with default setting for UM Transparent Nylon and 0.2mm layer. I updated the firmware yesterday as well although I can't recall the version off the top of my head. I also have the Printed Solid enclosure/door kit installed. The other thing I am worried about is the nylon-moisture issues, is that something that could cause this type of issue? I opened the nylon filament on Monday and have not taken any steps to dry it out. (humidity is quite low here in Saskatoon right now however) Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
