  1. πŸ‘‹ @blondthecolorist, Regarding the Custom Support Meshes, this has been reported on our Github as well and should be resolved in the Stable release. πŸ‘‹ @mrb17 We have a Support Brim Line Count setting that adds a brim only to the trees. You might have missed them because the support brims are build inside of the support instead of outside like the model brim. Can you let us know if these give you the adhesion you are looking for?
  2. Hey @Gero, The following settings have been introduced and updated for tree support. Maximum Branch Angle Trunk Diameter Branch Diameter Branch Diameter Angle Preferred Branch Angle Diameter Increase to Model Minimum Height to Model Initial Layer Diameter Branch Density Tip Diameter Limit Branch Reach Optimal Branch Range Rest Preference If you are seeing too many retractions it might be worth it to tune the following settings. Trunk, Branch, and Tip Diameter, or Branch Density. It might also be worth it to check the support interface settings. Good luck!
  3. Hey all πŸ‘‹, Thanks for the reports. Quick update on our side. A. Upgrading from 5.4 to 5.4 requires a little more investigation, but we have someone looking into it. B. The {extruder_end_gcode} that is broken, is added to the list to be resolved for stable C. The Support Horizontal Expansion being applied to tree supports even though it's not an available setting is also added to the list to be resolved for stable. D. We've been getting reports that the setting Connect Top/Bottom Polygons is broken in this release, so if suddenly custom profiles are not working, that might be the case. That's also one added to the list. Thanks for all the input! If you see anything else, please keep them coming πŸ’ͺ
  4. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE CURA 5.4 BETA How about this? I've also updated the post so it can be found there as well. Thanks for the feedback @Gero 😊
  5. This looks like the type of crash we reported internally. It would show up if you would load one 5.4 to another 5.4 version. It was a cash issue related to: the implementation of this feature. I was under the impression that it was resolved for everyone, but seeing this report, I'm not sure if that's the case. I'll have to double check with the team. Thanks for the report πŸ’ͺ
  6. Hey @Cuq, I recall that we were having a hard time finding a good name for these settings. So I think the team is open to a good alternative if you have one. Can you help me understand, what you are trying to suggest? Which of these settings do you think deserve a change, and why? Rest Preference The preferred placement of the support structures. If structures can't be placed at the preferred location, they will be placed elsewhere, even if that means placing them on the model. "Force Only Buildplate" or "On Model If Necessary" Support Placement Adjusts the placement of the support structures. The placement can be set to touching build plate or everywhere. When set to everywhere the support structures will also be printed on the model. "Touching Buildplate" or "Everywhere"
  7. Hey @onthuhlist, Thanks for reporting this. πŸ‘ We accidentally changed the wrong link, we meant to update the Learn More link. The download link should now be restored and point towards https://ultimaker.com/software/ultimaker-cura instead.
  8. Hey @gisireji, This report reminds me of https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/15179 Can you try the following: 1. Turn off "Generate Support". 2. Go to the Mesh Fixes settings and turn off "Remove Empty First Layers". 3. Turn on "Generate Support" I believe it's resolved with the next release with this fix: https://github.com/Ultimaker/CuraEngine/commit/3b1f2e612534f0ed05e022159a5308a6d2c30479
  9. Hey @Piezoid and @prd0000, This report reminds me of this issue on Github Can you try the following: 1. Turn off "Generate Support". 2. Go to the Mesh Fixes settings and turn off "Remove Empty First Layers". 3. Turn on "Generate Support" I believe it's resolved in the next release with this fix.
  10. Hey @dingleberry, Welcome to the UltiMaker Community πŸŽ‰ One I often forget to check is if the lift switch is correctly calibrated. I also like this list of troubleshooting tips: https://support.makerbot.com/s/article/1667410781005 Good Luck πŸ’ͺ
  11. Hi all, Community Manager announcement here. I'll be closing this discussion thread. I've seen real change happening in the hallways of the UltiMaker office as a result of this thread and I believe you can see that in the releases of Firmware 8.1.1, 8.1.2, and 8.1.3. A lot of different issues, frustrations, and emotions have been discussed. Some feedback was more constructive than others so I would like to point you again to the community guidelines for the forum because we can only improve if we work together. I'll be locking this discussion so no new comments can be left here. But if you have any new issues (that have not been addressed here) you are free to start a new discussion on the topic. Keeping discussions on topic is the best way to focus our efforts. Happy printing everyone! πŸŽ‰
  12. Hi @vegeta, I'm so glad to hear your issue has been resolved. πŸ‘
  13. Hey @syntax1269, Very cool! Welcome to the Cura Contributor Club πŸ‘‘ I'll bring it up to the team so they can take a look so it can be included in the next Cura release. πŸ’ͺ
  14. Hey @Wernight, That's a super interesting model. We see that in the Variable Linewidth Engine that Odd Walls aren't always closed, which results in lines being interrupted where they weren't in 4.x. Our developers are looking into a way to improve this behavior. This model would really help with the research. Do you have a project file for us? It contains the printer and settings we need for troubleshooting. To save a project file go to File -> Save project.
  15. Hey All, Quick update on our side. We might have a fix for this issue. πŸŽ‰ It's a bit hard for us to test, but we have a nightly build available. Can you please try it out and let us know if it resolves your issue? You can find the download links and the discussion here.
  16. Hey @yacinbm Quick update on our side. We might have a fix for this issue. πŸŽ‰ It's a bit hard for us to test, but we have a nightly build available. Can you please try it out and let us know if it resolves your issue? You can find the download links and the discussion here.
  17. Hey @MakerspaceAuckland, Welcome to the UltiMaker Community πŸŽ‰ I think you might be seeing this. https://support.makerbot.com/s/article/1667417396348 The new Cura 5.3 Stable contains quite a number of support improvements. Could you test if that's the case for your model as well? You can download it here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/releases/tag/5.3.0 If that's not it, I'll need a little bit more information from you. Do you have a project file for us? It contains the printer and settings we need for troubleshooting. To save a project file go to File -> Save project.
  18. Hey @Suemm3212, Could it be that you installed Cura 5.3 but dragged them into Cura 5.2? Do you see them if you open Cura 5.2? Do you have other Cura installations in C:\Program Files?
  19. Hey @ELDANS, Thanks for sharing your files. Your Benchy is not the project file I was looking for, but your MicroAmpCorners is! You seem to be running into the problem that's mentioned here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/issues/14728 That's good news for us because we can now easily reproduce the issue, and learned that people are running into this by accident. Unfortunately, that also means that there is no easy workaround, yet. I'll bring it up with the team to see if they can fix it or provide a workaround.
  20. Hey @HFJuli, I just tested the model mentioned above and it seems to work for me: The issue was resolved during the Beta period, so the fix is not present in the Alpha or Beta. Are you sure you are on 5.3 stable? You can download it here: https://github.com/Ultimaker/Cura/releases/tag/5.3.0
  21. Hey @Geckoas, I recognize your report πŸ‘ It's related to the Settings Guide Plug-in. People who don't have that plug-in installed, like me, just see this as tooltip: You can temporarily disable your plug-in in the marketplace by clicking the gear in the top right corner and then disable. If you are done editing your gcode you can enable it again. @jlspeeddragon I believe you might get more valuable feedback about improving your top bottom printspeeds if you start a new thread in the Cura part of the forum here: https://community.ultimaker.com/forum/108-ultimaker-cura/ instead of the Cura release notes. I believe there might be more people here who can help you get the answer you are looking for.
  22. Oh! This model lends itself quite well for the New Tree Support Alpha. You can also give that a go, you can read more about it here I really like printing dragons and miniatures myself. My colleagues even convinced me to talk about it during a webinar
  23. Hey @jlspeeddragon, Welcome to the Ultimaker Community πŸŽ‰ We moved the buttons to update and discard to a place where it's easier for people to find. You can now click the save and reset icon to alter your profiles. Have considered working with Top Surface skin speed? Don't forget to increase your number of Top Surface Layers to match your actual top layers. That's how I achieve the speed differences. πŸ˜… Hope this helps πŸ‘ Let us know if you run into anything else πŸ’ͺ
  24. Hey @pbdroid, Apologies for the confusion. I shared the coding efforts done to make the fix. You can follow along if you want. We'll have to wait until the next version of Cura comes out to actually use the fix.
