Cura 3.0.3 won't open

[Printers_Unite 1]

Right so this is a little inconvenient due to the brand new release of the slicer but still (this happened with 2.7 as well);

Everytime I try to open the software, it launches the loading stuff but, when it finished loading machines, it closes. It doesn't even register as an open application (I opened it and then went onto task manager and it didn't appear). I reinstalled 2.6 (because that was the last one that worked with me) and after it loaded machines, it open the software straight away; no problem opening it.

I opened the software through admin and I've reinstalled it a few times; I've also gone to the file location and opened it directly there.

I'm not an advance programmer (Nor one at all) so if you do try to help (thanks in advance) please use simple english ahah

I recommend deleting everything you ever saved in cura. It should all be in %appdata%/cura. Then when you re-launch 3.0.3 it will create those folders fresh.

I have same issue.  So I deleted all the Appdata from local and roaming and the Cura then progresses a little farther into opening, which it didnt do before.  It now opens but then when I try to select a printer type or even try to create a custom type it crashes again.  Same as before.  If i close the printer selection I can get to the cura interface but without anything else because printer isnt defined yet.  Anyone have any ideas for that?  I uploaded my cura.log from appdata/roaming cura 3.0 folder if it help

I'm having the same problem. downloaded several times installed 4 times now. uninstalled rebooted and installed deleting all directories in appdata each time. NO JOY! It gets to the point of picking the printer, you select i9t and next, crash every time. oh, and I've tried different printers. Also, NO JOY! Funny how some people have version 3.0.2 and all you can download now is 3.0.3. It's full of bugs my friends!

Did you try to backup/remove the complete Cura config folder? So not only the 3.0.3 folder? Maybe something in an old version folder is not being updated correctly.

Yes. All directories and all versions were removed. Ran CCleaner and rebooted. Reinstalled and still does not work. Reinstalled net framework 4.7 and still does not work.

Did same thing. deleted every instance of cura in program files, appdata and anywhere else I can find. Updated all windows 7 updates so everything is up to date but keep getting same thing. Only thing I can think of is something in the log. The log has multiple errors about loading: "ERROR - UM.Logger.logException" if you look in the log I posted above. Windows event viewer has some error about office .dll that has something to do with Intel graphics but that is updated also with same Cura error. Is any one else with errors using an integrated Intel Graphics Chip? maybe that is the issue? Using a Toshiba Satellite C655-S5235. Any suggestion would be great. Thanks

Yea so it works with 2.6 perfectly fine. I do have all three folders! I have a custom profile for my CR-10. How do I upload it?

After downloading Cura 3.0.3 (64bit) installer for Windows, my Symantec Endpoint Protection moved the installer to quarantine saying that "there is a strong evidence that this file is untrustworthy". I'm an administrator on this windows (can install apps etc.), but can't disable Symantec even for a while (company policy). Can you suggest something? Perhaps someone from Cura team could check the installer....?

Im still having an issue.  2.7 works fine but 3.0.3 doesnt.  I posted log above but here is newest one after doing all this. Deleted appdata from both local and roaming, uninstalled, ccleaned directories and registry, reinstalled with same issue.  Can anyone look at my log and help pleaseee.  Im missing out on all the new fun stuff with 3.0.  Thanks

I can run 2.7 fine but 3.0.3 crashes if I select a printer. I've uninstalled both and deleted both folders in local and roaming. Still closes.

I tryed with 2.7, this version is fine. I select my Ultimaker Original + printer and start ok.

I work with 15.04.3 and I like save project files function and material profils on this 2.7.

After this I reinstall 3.03, but crash when I validate printer select window.

I search with this new version a better surface finish, because trajectory of the head is bad when we have 2 top surface very nigh.

EDIT 22/10/2017: Congratulations for Cura 2.7, very good job, with 1mm Z offset + good inter-lines space + head trajectory mix choice, the finish of top is very very nice.

Same thing with me

To delete the entire AppData folder would mean I will lose literally hundreds of filament details and several printer data so not a realistic option (did it to install 2.7 but won't do it again had to back in all that data)

This is a KNOWN situation since 2.5 why can't we get it fixed over the long hail but how about a fix so at least we can give 3.0 a try

We all got the message from Norton it is because there are not enough downloads to make it trustworthy give it another week or so and it will work out fine

I just told Norton to allow it but I understand why you can't if your network is secure and you lack permission to allow otherwise blocked files

NOTHING Ultimaker can do it just needs volume as the 3D industry is so small and we don't download things enough

Appdata is a hidden folder under C:\Users\[user]\ directory. When you unhide that, you'll find the Cura folders under: C:\Users\[user]\Appdata\Local\Cura and C:\Users\[user]\Appdata\Roaming.

It's a known issue that was fixed but unfortunately was not included in 3.0.3.

As workaround, fieldOfView has provided a file that you can replace C:\Program Files\Cura 3.0\resources\shaders\grid.shader with. Link to the shader file that will solve your issue.

Sounds like you have something similar as the user above ^. Can you check your logs if it's the same error you're getting? If it is, you can replace the shader file as well.
