  1. As you might have seen here and there, there is a lot of buzz happening around the UM2 release. And as you might expect, the whole company, including me, is involved in that. Which is why the new support method hasn't got a lot of love the last few weeks.
  2. Actually, this is kinda expected (but possibly unwanted) behavior. Having a nozzle traveling on the outer perimeter scars the outside surface, so instead of traveling on top of the outer perimeter Cura opts to retract and move the shortest distance instead of trying to comb a thin area.
  3. Raft always has been 2 layers. But I think the current settings are less then perfect. If someone knows better defaults, I would love to know them.
  4. I did make some changes in the printer window implementation, so could be a new bug. What does the output.txt contain in the Cura installation directory?
  5. The kits are still awesome. I'm a happy owner of the kit, and while the UM2 is also an awesome machine, I still would have bought the UM1 kit if I could have gotten the UM2. I cannot officially comment on a heated-bed-kit for the UM1, but it is high on my personal wish list. We won't forget about the tinkerers and the kit users.
  6. Most likely someone created a press release and send it out a bit too early... anyhow, it creates a nice buzz :-)
  7. The AMF files for dual extrusion can be saved from Cura after a dual-extrusion merge.
  8. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) The fix horrible setting "combine everything type-A" might help in this case.
  9. The STL you select becomes extruder 1. The file you right-click becomes extruder 2. (The red part will be extruder 2)
  10. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Which settings are you using? I just pulled the model in my latested Cura-dev version and I'm not seeing the filled layer with 0.1mm layers. I'm wondering if it's something I might have fixed or a setting difference. (my settings are on defaults)
  11. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) I am planning to add the "skin"/"infill every X layers" feature again. But as gr5 points out, this needs some proper thinking. As you can have infill issues. It should be solvable, but I would need to wrap my head around it. The support material is a higher priority right now.

    WIN 7 shutdown

Sounds like an issue with your Windows install. Normally an application should never be able to trigger a reboot like that.
  13. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Which version are you using? I know one release had this issue when you had dual-extrusion enabled (even in a single extrusion print)
  14. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Most likely it's a memory related issue, the released version abuses memory a bit. Can you see if the version from the new support material test also gives you this problem with the same models&settings?
  15. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) If you put the "center is 0,0" it will put the later view in the corner, this is a bug. Fix is in place for the next release.
  16. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Interesting tests, I see there are some areas that need improvements. The unneeded support material is problematic, but should be solvable. I have some other things to attend to first, then I'm back on the support material.
  17. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) I have little experience with ABS, what would be a better ABS temperature?
  18. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Note, the newer CuraEngine assumes that the firmware will limit the Z speed. I highly recommend configuring your firmware so that the Z speed is limited to what your machine can handle. As it will also do Z moves at high speed.
  19. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Note, all the red-areas in X-Ray view are problems in the model. Could be open faces or duplicate faces. This can cause issues with the slicing process. The fix-horrible settings sometimes help but are not guarantee to help.
  20. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) The Cura GUI can run out of memory while loading models, it's the limit where you run into right now. This is an annoying issue which can cause odd issues. The limit depends a bit on your machine, but seems around 200MB binary STL on my machine. The engine can handle much larger files then that (but using the engine without GUI is a bit hard) It's quite possible that improvements could be made on this area, but it does not have my focus right now.
  21. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) I think this issue is related to the lay-flat algorithm, which isn't perfect right now. But I currently have no plan to improve this. Sorry...
  22. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) Still having issues? Could you show me the compiler output?
  23. (Back after 2 weeks vacation) There is indeed a bug that prevents the line spacing from working. Fix will be out soon. If you have better raft settings I would love to know them, so I can make them default for everyone.
  24. 13.07 has a "minimal extrusion before retraction" to prevent crushing of the filament. This setting still needs to be dialed in correctly. I think it's in the expert settings on 1.0mm
