@asb Yes I did. Works fine here. However, on some S5, enabling the LAN requires a bit of patience. I saw cases where it jumps back to disabled as in your video and then after something like 20 seconds to enabled.

On the Mac (Apple computer not MAC ? ) you can create a wifi network with two clicks...
Windows 10 needs 5 clicks for this (mobile hotspot).

There should be a way around this (if it has not been suggested before). Connect the S5 via a lan cable to your Mac (or pc) and setup a temporary network between the two. Then you can see the mac address. The command "arp -a" would be useful too since it shows all connected devices including their MAC address.
It is a nuisance for sure but until it is fixed, it is a workaround. And I disagree about the point that the S5 is not meant for a proffesional environment. Every IT dept. would be able to apply this simple workaround.
If you connect it with the LAN cable you will see the MAC address of the LAN connection. You still will not know the MAC address of the WiFi module which will be needed for the MAC filter of the WiFi.

We try to put easter egg games in all machines. The UM3 also has one, but that's a bit harder to find (and much harder to beat!)
Sounds like the S5 does not have an easter egg?

@GBuchwitz, the LAN cable does connect printer and laptop directly. Windows takes over the role of the DHCP server. See also https://support.microsoft.com/de-ch/help/220874/how-to-use-automatic-tcp-ip-addressing-without-a-dhcp-server.

You should not operate the board in such a condition. It's a high risk for a fire as further short cuts are likely due to the decreased resistance of the plastic (burned plastic gets conductive).
At least you should replace the connector with a new one if the pcb itself is undamaged.

Or it is printing in Dolby Digital... ?
I think @gr5 got it.

PS i turn off the lights of the room where my UMS5 is. whenever i dont turn lights off, it prints well. pretty strange.
What kind of lights do you have in that room? LED, light bulbs, fluorescence tubes?

The LAN cable (standard, not crossed) version works fine with Windows 10. Both laptop and printer will get a 169.x.x.x IP address. You can connect to the printer and use the full connectivity features.
If you are still worried, why not going with your laptop to your UM reseller and ask if you can try to connect to the S5 in the showroom?

Print very slow and insert something in your Bowden tube that puts high temp resistant oil onto the filament but not into the feeder.
-
You can use a 0.8mm or 1mm nozzle and set the line width to 1mm for the spiralize mode which is limited to one line.
-

While I like the versatileness of that mod I recommend to protect the bushings and bearings from dust.

BUT, I recognized the day that I made this print that the feeder did not advance the filament enough for it to print out the first "blob" before going to printing the brim... so I helped the filament very fast with unlocking the feeder suspensiton and pushing in the filament manually.. then it worked. So it should be an issue with the feeder I suppose. I will look in it again and send you in some fotos. Can it be that the feeder "didn´t get the info" sometimes from the hardware to advance and retract?
Does this always happen or just when you have newly loaded a filament?

@nallath This might be an interesting Cura Connect feature in the future?
@GeheimratEcke , do you have a superquiet office where everybody is heavily concentrating or is there a special thing on the printer you consider to be very noisy?
@ahoeben : ?

The PVA might have picked up humidity. Is it sizzling during extrusion? If yes, it certainly has.
Then you would need to dry the filament.
Another thing you might want to check is your feeder. If it grinded the filament due to a clog, you need to clean it; otherwise it will just grind the material again.

PC and Breakaway adhere very well on each other. Rather too well for breaking away the breakaway reasonably...
But still better than having to cut the supports made from PC itself.
-
If it is only left-right you also might want to check if the print table glass is moving. If it does, squeeze the back clips together so they hold the glass tightly.

Y is 240mm. Not one millimeter more... ?

Yes. Ask @SandervG or one of the moderators. Depending on the name you want you have to pay in cookies. ?

Breakaway seems to work well - are there any downsides?

atm PC+Breakaway is experimental because the two materials stick really well to each other. But we might soon see something in Cura (thx to @smartavionics) which improves that situation.
