  1. Hello; while my main focus will indeed be on the UM2, most of the things i talk about will be applicable to the UMO as well
  2. ik geloof ook niet dat we wat met mijn suggestie gaan doen?
  3. Hi; may i inquire why? I think it might be easier for you to just use 3D Hubs if it's for printing something.. honestly, I wouldn't rent out my UM2 unless i knew the person who was using it and he was a skilled printer..
  4. it could also be the parts are just too small. not that i would be expecting that from E-Nable, but you never know.. does Cura in the layer view show a complete fill o that area? if yes, how many hours have you printed with your current teflon piece and at what temp?
  5. I like how people are starting to find my spacer https://www.youmagine.com/designs/ultimaker-2-spring-replacement this is it.. just make sure you don't overtighten the connection! it should fit just right.. slowly tighten the hot end coupler until the heater block doesn't move anymore.. overtightening it will destroy the teflon piece!
  9. morning.. is the presentation available online as well?
  10. so shall we make this a bit more concrete?
  11. yes we got a demo on a hot-end replacement.. but i think a lot of practical stuff was left out.. like how to correctly remove the heater and temp sensor..
  12. haha well, months ago but yes, I would be happy to host but also love to get other people's input. one is never to old to learn.. but only if others feel this is interesting too?
  13. sure! i think it would be fantastic to share experiences on the following; 1)what maintenance do you do and when? 2)what are the most common failures and how can you recognize and fix them? 3)what are your experiences around printing with the UM2 (and ofcourse the UM) 4)what would be critical spareparts 5)what to prepare for when doing special prints. something like that would be extremely helpful to me..
  14. Sander; I'll try to be there. might make it might not. I do want to offer a suggestion; I think it would be great if there could be an evening focussed on maintenance lead by the community. I'd be happy to share my experiences, I have around 15.000 printing hours under my belt with several Ultimaker 2s.. I know a lot of people ahve also spend a lot of time and effort maintaining them and doing this that you won't find in the manuals.. is that an idea?
  15. Although I am sure to voice my concerns when I don't like things.. I am also one to pipe up when things are looking up.. While I do not belong to the group that was approached, I do want to applaud the team for reaching out to the community. I think this would have been better before this overhaul took place, but at least it's being done.. I have no idea where this is heading but if people like Anders are happy I feel it will be the right direction good job!
  16. @SandervG I was wondering, in your earlier posts you were very confident that you were looking into something to compensate buyers for breaking the dual extrusion promise. since then it's been very quiet.. you also referenced that there would be a new section of the site that would be opened for users to work together on improvements of the UM2 and sharing some of R&D's findings.. I'd love to quote those points you made but the "forum" already killed my post twice so I don't dare doing this again. I'll just leave it at it's somewhere in this thread
  17. Hi Sander; i had a very detailed and long post here but this "forum" deleted my post when i pressed post. I just don't have the energy to type everything again. in short; i'm sad to hear you believe that I want to have ammunition to attack the choice or that you believe I want to burn this "forum" down. I have respectfully given you my opinion and you can do whatever you want with it. In the end, I'm not the one responsible for the community All I wanted to know was if the new "forum" has gotten the traction that you hoped for and if there is an uptake over the past week. In this thread there have been some very rude and personal posts adressed to you that were totally uncalled for. I want to applaud you for how you handled that, there is no reason to get personal or rude. I hope you did not take any of my comments personally. I have no intention on attacking you or the company you work for. in the end, you are a community manager. I'm just a bit sad that at this point the perception I have is that there is more interest in pushing a vision through than actually caring about the community. Not saying that's the truth, just saying that's how I perceive it. something with truth and an eye and a beholder. I'll check back in a month if there are improvements in the usability for me. perhaps there's a post with onem of the community members starting their own forum, who knows. I'll certainly be back but contributing is too much of an effort in this format.
  18. so, my first post in a week.. most people that were heavy posters have voiced concerns around the usability of the enw "forum" and that this might drive people away. Sander, can you share forum statistics? I'm very interested to see how heavy this new "forum" is used as compared toi the old one. I for one just, let's keep it in english terms, "be arsed" to go through this new style, it is too counter intuitive.
  19. I will give you a more detailed reply then. The intentions of my reply is find the reason of your discomfort or the discontent with the new forum. In my opinion I could influence your feelings in 2 ways, either explain why we did why we did and create understanding and insight, or change whatever creates your feelings and turn them into more positive ones. I have already tried to explain why choices were made and that this forum is part of a larger concept. That is also the same reason why we can not migrate back to the old/another forum. Instead, we will make this forum better. In that case, we are all happy, no? In order to successfully do this, we need an overview of the things that are lacking. We have already started developing these new features so we should experience improvement (hopefully) this week. In regard of your reply you address a few reasons of why this forum does not do the trick for you. For example; You have to dig around through spam; A better spam filter is in the works so you shouldn't have to worry about this for long. You have to log in every time; another fix that is on our developers desk atm, you shouldn't have to worry about this for long. Chat: Something that we are looking into too and will most likely be implemented soon in a rather basic but functional way. A filter on last visit + notification improvements are also in the works. Maybe it is difficult to envision it now, but by taking away these obstacles we think the forum will be more like home for you. There is no reason to compare it to the progress of YouMagine. Ultimaker and Youmagine both operate as separated organizations and have our own tools at hand. I do understand the train of thought, but we are pushing for fast progress so it shouldn't something to worry about. We understand the feeling you are trying to get across. Which, for some users is a slightly dissatisfied feeling. My attempts are to acknowledge them, and work with your feedback. Work with your feedback so in return hopefully to change your feelings towards more positive. My apologies if my replies have been to pragmatic. If I have missed anything from your original posts or something you want to know, please feel free to ask. I just think we have reached a point where we will have to agree to disagree. I can give you my opinion and views, and you are free to use them as you want. there is no responsibility you have towards me, and I'm just happy that Ultimaker has always supplied a platform for opinions, lessons to learn and just in general good fun. I completely understand your vision Sander. You're moving into a communmity instead of a stand-alone forum. totally understood. I think you vision is sound. no discussion around that. now let me tell you about my background. without going into great detail, at the end of the day i'm responsible for selling, envisioning and implementing new direct communication systems for customers with 30.000 employees and more. One of the things that I do is talk to customers on how to migrate from an old to a new telephony system. Out of experience I have noticed that if I take away someone's phone, give him a very good looking new phone, but take away ability that user has been using on a daily basis, my project will fail. honestly, I feel the same thing has happened to me know. yes I got my shiny new phone. but things I did on a daily basis, chat, new topics, good overview, posting and attaching pictures, so many things are just not possible anymore. to me it feels a date has been agreed, first the 16th, then the 21st, when a new community HAD to be online no matter the consequences. and that is what has happened. a new community site is online. By not having feature parity nor meeting the communities expectations I think the logical step is to take a step back, work with the old forum for a while (which should be online anyway per the promises made) and work with the community to get a new community environment online. If you can fix everything that you said you would in a couple of weeks with the best developers, You can make a lot more money for a different employer..
  20. it's interesting when even the UM people start replying with things like "the person that designed this should be shot" I'm just happy i'mm not the only unhappy cookie
  21. Hi Sander. I would love to see the more detailed reply. I felt bad writing the topic. I am not one to complain but try to see the good and try to offer constructive improvements. If I'm wrong, I've learned to admit that over the years.. I understand you are going to improve this system. fantastic. But nowhere in your post do I detect the least bit of worry around my core message; This new system is alienating people that loved going here. Ofcourse there will always be people complaining. There will always be room for improvement. In my opinion, when designing for a system, that's what you go for. a solid base, with room for improvements. The solid base is not there at the moment. If I log in and try to find new posts, I have to dig through a lot of spam posts.. I have to log in again every single time. There is no way for me to visit the old forum that was publicly advertised even though it was promised. There is no more chat. honestly, there is nothing here that is better than before. sure, some stuff is not worse. Search was not working before, it still isn't. I'm not saying you should go to a new forum. I'm saying, why not put the old one back while you work on improvements to get at the bare minimum feature parity. It was great having a usable forum hosted by Ultimaker where people could be free to express their questions, thoughts and customizations. While making posts on the old forum was not always fun (using Internet Explorer was hell, you had to use Firefox or Chrome) and there were a lot of weird things, it did get me through. I tried uploading a print here. failed. tried different method. failed. well, perhaps I'm simply wrong. or to old to understand these new things I'll check back in a month when\if the fixes have been applied
  22. best functionality ever. ghost posts!
