Can I ask... If I have a loose idea can I post it on youmagine and just keep on working on it from there.. then I can submit it later.. when it works to the instructables.com site ? That wont screw up any of the small print details to trying for this competition... ? Plus another question... I really love this forum because you can share ideas with other clever creative people and that really helps make the idea better. So question is.. I would really like to share my idea here.. show some sketches and 3d models iv done and get some feedback if possible... would that be cheating ?? I mean its the same as if an engineer went into a hackerspace and got his designed checked by other engineers... this way we do it online... Ian :smile:

Robert keep up the good work... not only for you but for us... every time i read about you doing sports.. i look down at my growing irish belly and say.. your next mister.. of course the fact that i hate the 12 hours im away at work these days.. does not really fill me with energy and dedication to start into sports... the whole moral just slowly sinks lower and lower... Good morning guys :-) So sitting down.. the office is strangly quiet this morning.. ? Have a nice fresh cup of tea made.. and sitting infront of Cineam4D modelling my version .. 5 of my new feeder system. There are little benafits to no one careing what you do.. always... but its a blessing short lived.. But im really looking forward to next week. Iv booked a week off holidays and doing some job interviews down in beautiful Bavaria. Doing a jumping tour of southern germany... Nurenburg.. Regensburg.. Munich... Salsburg... Berchesgarden... back up to Ulm.. Stuttgart... Frankfurt and back over to Leipzig.. Please god the weather plays ball and we get a few nice days.. To keep the budget down low.. we are kitting out the back of our car like a little B&B.. bed.. food drinks and camping in the car for a week. Parking up in forests and in the country at night and then finding out where the local swimming pools are for a little washy washy.. so things dont get too.. natural... LOL ;-) Should be a cool adventure :-) Ian :-)

ok... but still... im not sold... iv seen people race around with ultimakers on the backs of their bikes... carry them in IKEA blue bags while shopping.... its not a big problem.... if the print quality some how was a lot better.. then id say.. cool ok... But this just seems like a..... dud concept when you can grab yourself a bombproof ultimaker1... Ian :-)

still have to get around to printing that thing... :-) Can I ask you Robert.. how did you model up the paths on the side of the cylinder ? Did you just setup a few dozen planes along the lenght of the cylinder.. created simple box profiles in section.. extrude to next plan and when you had your design.. chamfer all the edges ? Im just thinking how best to model something like that.... Ian :-)

thats really crazy... i only saw this happen kinda once before... so it appears to be very rare... maybe just a bad one in the batch ? I would recommend you contact sales about this and explain what has happened. Ian :-)

looks very cute.. ahhh a little baby ultimaker... but i have to ask... if you have a nice ultimaker1 original with 2 or 3 different nozzless.. you can print amazing prints... so whats the big thing about a little smaller printer ? Ian :-)

nice idea but I would definitly buckle the front side right beside the hotend... Iv printed so many fan schrouds that turned to butter after a few minutes beside the hotend.. Ian :-)

nope !! thats all down to heat my friend ! Too much heat and not enough cooling at the top of the trunk. make sure the cooling is 100 percent on at that stage and bring down the print temp a bit... what temp are you printing at ? Ian :-)

it looks like funny gcode to me... did you try it with a different version of Cura ?... did you have a look at the layer view mode.. can you spot the difference ? it could be that the grass part under the belly of the elephant is badly intersecting with the belly itself and so causing some bad mojo on those layers... might be interesting to try the different combine bodies options in the advanced option of Cura... tell me what you find out... ? well i will keep things secret until next month but i am printing evey night and day at the moment with my design.. im doing a 30 hour print at the moment with zero skipping..... I dont think there is anything 100 percent with 3d printing.. but my design is... damn good ! ;-) Ian :-)

There are other ways of driving filament with zero skipping... just sticking with the existing ultimaker2 thinking wont do that. I have a very good zero skip system designed.. tested and printing and its very different.. actually totally different to what ultimaker do. I was not happy with the inital concept of the feeder system so i went back to stage one and worked from there. I am going to release my design in the big Fabcom 3D Fair (Germany) in my Presentation next month. But I am also working on a smaller more conpact lighter version to be fitted to the top of the hotend.. then we dont need any bowden anymore.. It will be a very very interesting presentation I think ;-) did anyone not notice I havent posted any photos in the new prints tread recently... LOLL... all my secret work every night... Ian :-)

i did this guy twice now. first time came out amazing with an ultimaker1 and i placed it on the ultimaker table in germany and 10 minutes later it was stolen.. second time i printed it also with an ultimaker1.. it printed until his forhead and then blocked.. im using him as my piggy bank now ;-) Ian :-)
